Great owners!! Fantastic home great place to relax for a few day and close to great restaurants.

We rented this home to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. It was a great choice for several reasons. First Donna was so helpful in recommending a florist, restaurants and even got us some chocolate covered strawberries and cheesecake. Second we decided to have dinner at the house and Tom was gracious enough to play some great dinner music for my bride and I. All furniture in this house is so comfortable, easy to relax. The pool area provided a great place for us to relax and enjoy a nice sunny day. Community is nice and quiet and sidewalks provide a nice area for running and walking. Pinehurst and Southern Pines are super close for golfers to enjoy some great rounds on elite courses. Tom and Donna are extraordinary owners, so helpful in so many ways. We will be scheduling this home for another family vacation. If we could give it a 10 we would.

Oasis in Aberdeen

  • 5 of 5

We spent 5 nights at this lovely historic register Craftsman style Home in Aberdeen. We couldn't have ordered a more wonderful host or a cleaner, more comfortable place to stay while participating in a combined carriage driving event at the Carolina Horse Park. On arrival Donna greeted us warmly and pointed out all of the features of this spacious house, plus all the provisions she had brought in to make our first overnight super easy. She had supplied us with muffins, juice, half & half, coffee cake, cookies, etc. No need to run out after a long day on the road with horses to find breakfast items for the morning. These goodies were all purchased from a lovely bakery/cafe just a couple of blocks from the house. This was a great introduction to a popular and delicious local business that we frequented several times during our visit.

This thoughtfulness was typical of the way we were cared for by Donna during our entire stay. She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and always asked if she could do anything to make us more comfortable.

The house is exactly as represented in the photos on the Home Away site. The house has a good Wifi connection. There is also the possibility to stream programs to the TV, but we never turned it on. I assume it works. The two queen size beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of space for 4 adults and 2 dogs to spread out and cozy places to gather when we wanted. There is only 1 bathroom and, with our competition schedule, we did need to plan and negotiate who had priority, but this was a small issue.

The house is very quiet even with someone living upstairs. I appreciated this as I am a pretty light sleeper and sensitive to sound. There is a train nearby, but as it was going through town, it was fairly slow moving and I didn't find it intrusive.

I can't say enough good things about Donna and Tom. They welcomed us like family, took time to ask about how the competition was going and generally included us in their lives like neighbors. Our last evening was spent by the pool while Tom played guitar and entertained us with some of his music.

Donna even checked in with us while we were on our way home to see if all was going smoothly and expressed concern for my daughter and her husband as they were making the long trek with the horses back to Massachusetts.

We loved our stay with Donna and Tom and hope to be able to book there again.

Pleasant Stay in Aberdeen

  • 4 of 5

Donna Shannon was the perfect host. In an older home, very well kept up, all the amenities were provided, including beverages and snacks. A pleasant neighborhood and within easy reach of Southern Pines and Pinehurst. Large swimming pool but too cool during my stay to take advantage. Be prepared to search for electrical outlets to plug in phones, etc., but there are several in the modernized and spacious kitchen, which also has new appliances. Perfect for a couple or family visiting the area. Donna is very attentive and helpful.

Stunning Craftsman Home! Donna lovely hostess!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you Donna for your hospitality! The home authentic to its time with beautifully arranged with amazing furniture! In Aberdeen, NC. We had an 11 hour trip

Half way stop to Mount Dora, Florida and boy did we need rest! Donna is an amazing host, had buns for us for Breakfast! We got there so late I realized we forgot to get milk 15 minutes later Donna came back with milk. That was so kind of her this is the type of hospitality and care you get when you rent this home! We were there one night I wished I had more time to stay! I recommend Donna's authentic Craftsman home and hospitality to people I know and any one who might ask for an awesome place to stay in Aberdeen, NC! You will not go wrong staying in this lovely home!

Peaceful / amazing home in the heart of Aberdeen

  • 5 of 5

This is a great property in very quaint and idyllic Aberdeen. You are just minutes from Pinehurst and Southern Pines golf - restaurants and attractions. This is a very cool home on the Historical Home Registry and the entire main floor is available including a spectacular pool. Donna and Tom are great hosts and provided a great breakfast and baked goods. Aberdeen is an ultra quiet town and very charming - you can walk to town in minutes for shopping - antiques and dining. We use VRBO often and this ranks high on our list of great places to stay and you will not be disappointed.
