Lydia's Rustic Lodge at Happy Ours Ranch, located between Bryce and Zion National Parks, is the perfect retreat for a weekend get-away or a long, slow vacation. Lydia's Canyon, just north of Glendale, Utah on Color Country's Scenic Highway 89, is known for its colorful maples and towering pines, lush meadows, and clear creeks and ponds. The property includes horse stalls and pasture, as well as a unique canyon with rocky ledges and grand views, perfect for an afternoon hike.
The three-bedroom, two-bath lodge has a roomy living area with classic open beams and a 55" screen TV. The upstairs bedroom is good-sized and boasts a large built-in closet. It is near the full, upstairs bath stocked with comfortable towels and all the amenities. The basement stays cool in the summer and houses an open game area and two more bedrooms. Both have comfortable queen-sized beds. Bedroom #2 adjoins a bath with a shower, and bedroom #3 has an additional twin bed. There is twin-over double bunk bed and a queen-sized futon in the downstairs living area. The kitchen hosts an antique cook stove with full electric capability and is fully stocked, whether guests want to eat in or take food on the go. The large, covered, wrap-around porch complete with a new BBQ grill "makes" the log cabin and is perfect for a quiet evening or a cook out with a crowd. Come and enjoy a rustic feel with all the latest technology, including wifi and a smart TV.
We are Hal and Mercy Stout. We met while attending college in nearby Cedar City and moved to Lydia's Canyon to build a home on family land in 2002. Hal spent his childhood summers in this canyon and it has proven to be the perfect place to raise our family. Lydia's Lodge is located a half mile up the canyon from our home. We were thrilled to acquire it along with 18 acres as an addition to Happy Ours Ranch. We are excited to share this amazing place with your family or group as headquarters while you explore the marvels of southern Utah.
Hal and Mercy Stout purchased this cabin in 2015
Lydia's Lodge is conveniently located between amazing Zion and Bryce National Parks. It is a two hour drive to venture to Grand Canyon or Lake Powell. The Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Red Canyon, Escalante Grand Staircase and Cedar Breaks National Monuments, as well as Brianhead Ski Resort are all within an hour's drive. In short, you'll never see it all in one trip! Make the lodge your headquarters and visit the sights of southern Utah.
At Lydia's Lodge, we can turn your get-away into a counseling retreat for couples or families. Owner Mercy Stout is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health counselor. Mercy innately believes that positive change is possible and knows that the peace of this place makes it ideal for reconnecting and strengthening relationships. Call Mercy directly to inquire about this unique benefit.
Thanks for a great vacation stay. We had everything we needed for a relaxing get-away from our busy lives. Accommodations were spotless and spacious. We would have stayed forever if real life didn't interfere. Multiple families were comfortable. Thanks again!
Our family of four had a wonderful stay at Lydia's Lodge. The booking process was easy and communication with the owners was excellent. The cabin was easy to find. The vacation cabin was as advertised, and everything was clean and worked well. The location of the cabin between Bryce Canyon and Zion made visiting both parks a breeze. In addition, we visited Red Hollow slot canyon in nearby Orderville. The cabin itself was very roomy and had ample space. The kitchen was well equipped. The air hockey table downstairs was a big hit with our kids. The front and side porches were great places to relax and also to dine al fresco, and the outdoor fire-pit was nice and toasty during the cool evenings. The dark night sky at the cabin made for great star viewing. When it was time to leave, we appreciated the simple check-out process. In addition, the owners refunded our security deposit without delay. We were very pleased with our stay, and would highly recommend the cabin to other families visiting the area. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place with us!
I stayed in this property between Sep 5 to Sep 7, 2015. This is one of the best vacation I ever had. The place is very nice, clean. The owner is very helpful! I would love to stay here again!
We were so blessed to have had the white Christmas we dreamed we would have in this beautiful, peaceful cabin. The views were breath taking and the cabin was very comfortable, warm and cozy for our entire family of 10. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed. The only thing we brought was our food, and items for games and activities. From the minute we opened the cabin door, and saw the Christmas tree with decorations and lights we knew we had picked the perfect place to celebrate Christmas with our family. Hal and Mercy we so kind and gracious. They ensured we were comfortable and Hal even gave us an interesting history lesson on the canyon. We totally unplugged from the busyness of our lives and enjoyed the seclusion and privacy the cabin provided us. We enjoyed quality family time and made amazing memories that will last forever. This was the best Christmas EVER.
We are hoping to return to the cabin in the future and bring horses to ride. The property has horse facilities and there are beautiful mountains to ride in.
If you are looking to get away from the craziness of a very busy and chaotic world.....this is the place to go. Thank you to Hal and Mercy for sharing this piece of Heaven with others. We appreciate you and your hospitality.

We enojed this cabin with friends. It's conveniently located between Zion (1hs) and Bryce. Hal was waiting for us at the beginning of the road to welcome us and show us where the cabin is.
Thank you so much for a beautiful weekend! Our family enjoyed this cabinvwry much and felt so at home! I highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable vacation!
We had a wonderful stay at Lydia's Lodge, which serves as a great home base for local attractions. We did day trips to Zion, Bryce Canyon, Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Cedar Breaks National Monument, and Coyote Buttes, all within about an hour or so of the cabin. I really loved how the Cabin had a rustic look (wood exterior and interior, porch swing, etc) but all the modern conveniences (Wifi, smartTV, fridge, microwave, etc.). I was also impressed with how clean the cabin was when we arrived, and how restrained the interior design is--charmingly rustic but not kitschy or old-fashioned. The hosts were very helpful and responsive and we loved roasting marshmallows on the fire pit outside while looking at the stars.
For future travelers there is no cell service (at least for us) at the cabin. While there is a small grocery store nearby, there are virtually no places to eat out for miles, so you'll be using the kitchen a lot!
