Located in the heart of Bend’s River West neighborhood is this beautiful newly constructed (completed in June 2015) studio apartment. This is a custom constructed dwelling designed by the Bungalow Company. This dwelling was designed and built specifically to serve as a vacation rental and is fully licensed and permitted.
Bend's 10.4 % lodging tax is included in the listed price. You will have your own private entrance from the alley adjacent to your dedicated parking pad.
This studio has a full and well equipped kitchen, queen sized bed, comfortable furnishings, AC, a cozy fireplace, and a beautifully outfitted bathroom.
This addition to Bend was platted in 1923 and the first homes were built soon afterward. Some of the homes are the original houses built by and for the town’s mill workers. Many of the homes have been completely remodeled and the area surrounding the apartment is uniquely Bend: an eclectic mix of old and new; craftsman and prairie; ranch and bungalow; modern and primitive.
This is a great location to experience Bend’s outdoor opportunities. To get to Mount Bachelor exit the alley, turn left and drive straight for 20.5 miles. Phil’s Trail – hop on your bike and ride 20 minutes west (or drive 3.5 miles).
You may choose to leave your car on the parking pad and walk. Within a five block radius you will find the Victorian Café, Parilla Grill, Sip Wine Bar, Brother Jon’s Publik House, 10 Barrel Brewing, Oblivion Brewing, Growler Phil’s, Longboard Louie’s, Versante Pizza, Columbia Park (the Deschutes River and foot bridge to Old Bend), Good Life Brewing, Volcanic Theater Pub, Cabin 22, Baltazar’s Seafood Restaurant, The Village Baker and more. Downtown Bend is a 20 minute walk or a six minute drive or bike ride (on your bikes or the cruisers provided with your stay).
You have a private entrance from the alley. There is approximately 45 square feet of outdoor area on your side of the fence adjacent to the walkway to the stairs. This is primarily for bicycle parking. We also provide by request secure bicycle storage in a shed which you access from the parking pad. You have a 10 by 21 foot concrete parking pad immediately outside the entry gate. The apartment is 484 square feet and is above the detached garage used by your hosts.
Our interaction with guests is very limited. Even though we share the same property, the studio is separated and has private access. Because the studio is located above our garage, we occasionally meet guests by chance when we're leaving or returning at the same time. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.
We like Bend so nice we moved here twice. We came in 1999 when John took a job with a technology start up but returned to Salt Lake City two years later after the startup shut down. In 2008 we had the opportunity to be selective about where we live and decided to return to Bend in April of that year.
Lisa is from San Pedro, California and worked for Western Airlines and then Delta Airlines after the purchase. She has been a flight attendant for 28 years and retired three years ago. She does volunteer work now and her hobby is real estate.
John grew up in Kensington, MD and moved West at 18. He worked for Motorola for 15 years and then another dozen or so at several similar companies and the aforementioned start up. He now works at Mount Bachelor six months a year and spends much of the other six months mountain biking, camping, hiking, and trying to figure out the guitar.

This studio apartment was built in 2015. We purchased the property in March of 2014. The main house was built in 2007 by Urban Custom Homes as a spec home. The real estate market in Bend and elsewhere collapsed about the time the house was completed so instead of selling it the builder operated it as a vacation rental. When we purchased the property we operated it as a vacation rental for five months before moving in. As a vacation rental our house was called The Cumberland Bungalow. So now we call the apartment the Cumberland Bungalette.
Both the main house and this studio apartment were designed by the Bungalow Company of Bend. This Bungalette was designed from the start as a vacation rental. This property is licensed by the City of Bend as a vacation rental.
Walking. We bought this home (we live in the main house on Cumberland, the apartment is accessed from the alley between Cumberland and Baltimore Ave.) because we can walk almost everywhere we want to go. We leave our cars in the garage for days at a time.
The Cumberland is beautiful, well appointed and carefully laid out. Nothing was left out, even down to the lighting. We stayed for 2 nights on our way through and will hope to return in the summer. It was quiet and gave us the respite we so needed while allowing us to explore Bend and its awesome shops and great restaurants. Everything could not have been more perfect. We have already recommended to friends!
The Bungalette was extremely well equipped and was a spotless property. Nice touches included were a growler and even beer glasses in the freezer along with a coffee maker with coffee and tea supplied. Would definitely stay here again. Walkable to the Galveston restaurants.
This place was lovely..Just what we needed for a nice vacation. Everything you need..Bikes, Cooler, beach Towels and more. The bed was so comfortable and the kitchen had everything you needed. The owners even had a beer growler for you to use for getting beers to take out from all the Breweries around. Bend has wonderful places to eat too. So much to do with all the outdoors within driving distances to all the attractions around the area and within walking distance to places to eat to walk around the river and just enjoying the outdoors.They even have an adventure pass for you to use..Which I took with me by mistake..I would highly recommend this place and if we go back to Bend would love to stay again..

We do not allow bicycles in the studio. If you are bringing bikes you can park them inside the fence and lock them or, if you prefer, you can park them in our shed using your padlock or ours.
1. CHECK-IN TIME IS AFTER 3PM PST AND CHECK-OUT TIME IS 11AM PST. No early check-ins or late check outs. This agreement does not create a tenancy or residence. You must depart at the appropriate time. (If you would like an earlier check-in, please ask.) No more than two persons and one vehicle are permitted. Minimum stay is two consecutive nights.
2. This is a NON-SMOKING rental, indoors and out.
3. DAMAGE/RESERVATION DEPOSIT – A damage/reservation deposit of $100 is required. This must be received before or on your check-in date. The deposit automatically converts to a security/damage deposit upon arrival. The deposit is not applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable within fourteen (14) days of departure, provided the following provisions are met:
a. No damage is done to the unit or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear.
b. No charges are incurred due to contraband, unauthorized pets, or collection of rents or services rendered during the stay.
c. No excessive utility usage (may be subject to a utility surcharge).
d. All keys are returned.
e. No linens are lost or damaged.
f. No early check-ins or late check-outs.
g. The renter is not evicted by the owner (or representative of the owner) or the local law enforcement.
