We have been coming to Bandon since 2000 with our children and have enjoyed every second. In July 2015 we became the proud owners of the Pelican's Nest, a home we have enjoyed in the past. We look forward to sharing our home with our guest and hope they find Bandon as beautiful and relaxing as we do.
Rick Swenson purchased this house in 2015
Some of the many things we really enjoy about our home are the views from the living room where we can sit or lie on the couch, watch the water and/or read a book. I always seem to fall asleep though listening to the waves and enjoying the sun and light through the skylights. When the weather permits sitting out on the deck is delightful and there are times during the whale migrations that we sit with binoculars and watch the whales pass by. Also, the sunsets are magnificent. Our dining area, kitchen and TV room all open up through a large glass slider to our fenced, private, wind protected backyard where we enjoy nice BBQ's on our Gas grill. The beach access is just two doors down from our home and we love to take dogs and walk for miles. During minus tides the tide pools are unbelievably full of sea life. Bring your camera!! Bruce and I also enjoy the many whitewater views from our home through the many large picture windows. Doing dishes is not so bad when you can watch and enjoy the ocean. When we first enter our home we love the smell of the cedar walls and close our eyes and take deep breaths. We love the openess of our home and the ease in getting around.
There was 6 of us that stayed here as well as our extended Coos Bay family who came to visit/have dinner with us- there was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen/living area downstairs was large as well as the upstairs living area- all of us were very comfortable; it did not feel crowded. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking meals- pots, pans, dishes and whatnot. You'll need to bring your own oil/spices though (not provided). The beds were very comfortable. Very cozy house with interesting architecture and skylights. Easy walk to the beach. We were happy we were able to bring our family dog along. Rick- the owner- was quick to reply (phone call) after we inquired about renting and to all of our questions. We would stay here again.
The house was overall beautiful, with a very well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and wonderful views upstairs. The carpet had stains which we overlooked because everything else was in good condition. The fireplace was unfortunately not working which would have been nice during the cold nights but the owner assured us the gas company would have it fixed for the next visitors. I would definitely return.
Access to the beach is close by and the house has lots of room for a large family gathering. The fenced back area was great for our dog and the bag of doggie goodies was a nice welcome. The upstairs carpet needs some tlc as it had lots of stains, but over all the house was very clean and the kitchen had plenty of dishes and cookware. We will be back again.
This is the third time our group of ladies has stayed at this house and it's become our favorite. There are plenty of beds and - most importantly - bathrooms. The house is clean and comfortable. It's just a short walk to the path to the beach. The owner was a pleasure to work with, texting shortly after our check-in to make sure all was well. I expect we'll be staying there again.
comfy beds, good private areas and spacious common room; appeciated the well-appointed kitchen and up-to-date appliances. Thank you!
My wife and I enjoyed our stay. The house was very comfortable with lots of room. We slept each night to the sound of the Ocean surf. We enjoyed our walks on the beach. We enjoyed our walks in downtown Bandon.
You have to crab at the local dock, especially if you have kids. You can purchase a shellfish license at the fish shops and get turkey legs at the stores (sea lions love the people who use fish for bait!) and go get dinner. The West Coast Game Park is also a must if you have children. Our kids have held bear and tiger cubs over the years. Kumari, a tiger cub they held is now a mature female there.
The Bandon Horse Stables are right around the corner from the Pelican's Nest.
