Welcome to the cottage, where you can kick back, relax, and appreciate down time, Southern style. Whether you're a kayaker interested in exploring Eastern NC waterways, a family visiting a loved one at Camp LeJeune, or a couple wanting a romantic refuge, the cottage at Cedar Point can provide a wonderful base for a few days or more. Your well-behaved dog can join you!
Enjoy the rockers on the front porch. Stretch out with a novel (or take a snooze) in the hammock on the screened porch, where you’re looking out on the White Oak River. When feeling more ambitious, you can put in kayaks and paddle toward the marshes of Croatan National Forest, or around the bend and under the Swansboro bridge, across the Intracoastal Waterway, and out toward Bear Island State Park. The cottage is located one (empty) lot from the White Oak River. It’s about a 5-10 minute drive to the public beach at Emerald Isle, or to the scenic Tideland Trail of Croatan National Forest. Swansboro is a historic fishing village, a fun place to browse. Go to the Visit Swansboro website to learn more.
Inside the cottage (which was completely repainted in fall 2016), there are vaulted ceilings, lots of windows, and heart pine floors in living room and kitchen. Dining room table seats 6. Great collection of puzzles, games, books. Internet access; TV with cable and internal roku.
Master bedroom has a king-sized bed; master bath has a heart-shaped jacuzzi and walk-in shower with two shower heads. We are in the process of re-installing a steam generator for the shower, which will be an added amenity. Second bedroom has two twin beds; second bath has a combo tub/shower. Both baths have heated tile floors.
The house is a no-smoking zone. Ours is a quiet neighborhood, so please, no house parties. The yard is not fenced, but you can walk your dog along the road, which borders the river.
We prefer a maximum of 2-4 guests, for at least three nights. For those who want to stay longer, arrival/departure times can be negotiated (as long as there is not a same-day turn-around) and do not need to be on weekends. In fact, during peak season we encourage arrivals to be on days other than Saturdays.
Swansboro offers several dining options, but if you’re inclined to cook, you’ll enjoy the cottage’s well-equipped kitchen. And you won’t find seafood fresher than the fish sold at Clyde’s, just over the Swansboro bridge.
We are intentionally inclusive in welcoming guests and do not discriminate based on race, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, family structure, or political affiliation. If you love the coast and are seeking a quiet place to rest and regenerate for a few days, we hope you'll inquire about the cottage.
This is our second home, and we enjoy sharing it with friends. It's a refuge!
Swansboro is a delightful town!
Although this property does not have a dock, it is one (empty) lot from the White Oak River, and it's easy to pull kayaks across the path we keep mowed. Paddle under the Swansboro bridge, and head toward Bear Island. Or paddle toward the Croatan National Forest.
The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed. Kathleen was very responsive to emails. We lucked out and had a really warm couple of days, so we even got some good hammock time in November!
Cottage was as described and the photos were accurate. Easy access to spot to launch kayaks. 8-10 minutes to great beaches. Pleanty of book, puzzles and movies for those so inclined. Owner very responsive to any concerns.
My dad and brother were really pleased with the Cottage at Cedar Point! It was well appointed, quiet, pretty and very comfortable! They would love to go back if they had a chance. My dad particularly liked the hammock! The two bathrooms were very nice, and the kitchen and dining areas were laid out well and everything they needed for a nice stay was there! They both thought the beds were comfortable. The decor was charming and the house was light and airy. It was a very peaceful and relaxing place, especially the porches--front and side.
We had a relaxing time in this beautiful cottage. It was clean and had all the needed equipment to cook. We loved the master bedroom and especially the his/hers shower. The extra bedroom was nice for my daughter and son-in-law to stay over a few nights. It was very convenient to restaurants and beaches. Kathleen was very thorough and informative. I like that she answered any questions quickly. I would definitely recommend renting this property.
We had a great time at the Davidson's house near Swansboro. It was bright and cozy, and we felt right at home. Kathleen's input was very helpful and informative, and we used her recommendations. We even found some common ground to chat about. Definitely recommend this charming house and it's owners, close to the beach. - Tom and Kathy
We found the cottage to be exactly as shown, with lovely furnishings. The two bedrooms are very nice, as are the two full bathrooms. We especially liked the screened in porch and the adjacent deck. The large front porch with wonderful lighting, ceiling fans and rocking chairs was a great place to relax after our kayaking excursions. The location is nicely secluded, yet close to Swansboro and beach activities and restaurants. The short path to the river made our kayaking so convenient. I enjoy a quiet vacation and this cottage was perfect for that! We plan to return every year.
