About Marianne Brownfield

As almost native Floridians NIck and Marianne have lived in Central Florida since the late 60's early 70's. We enjoy all outdoor activities. That's why the Suwannee River Spring house was perfect for us. We fell in love with the house and property the minute we saw it and wanted others to enjoy it when we couldn't be there.

Marianne Brownfield purchased this house in 2015

Why Marianne Brownfield chose Florida

Our entire lives together and even before we met we both enjoyed all Florida has to offer. We have always enjoyed visiting the many springs in the north/central Florida area. Because we are surrounded by water, gentle breezes make the Florida heat somewhat bearable even in the hottest part of the summer. This property is unique in having a spring to enjoy even when the temperatures are in the upper 90's. The spring water is a constant 72 degrees all year. We wanted a place close to nature and away from the hustle and bustle of every day lives. Something on the Suwannee river was a must and we were fortunate enough to have the spring as a bonus. We hope you enjoy as much as we do.

What makes this house unique

The things that make this property so much more unique than others is the spring, The Suwannee River, all the other springs surrounding the area and the close proximity to the 3 major cities in north Florida. We are an hour and half north of Gainsville, west of Jacksonville and east of Tallahassee.

The property was beautiful, especially the view of the river.

Marianne was a wonderful host, and was always available if we had any questions. As soon as we walked into the home we felt like we were at home; there was even a bottle of wine waiting for us! The spring did have some algae, but that didn't stop my husband from jumping in it as soon as we arrived! It was a wonderful trip and we hope to return soon.

She said yes!!! My now, fiancé and and I stayed here and loved all the surroundings. The home is wonderful. The springs were great! We walked to the river each morning. Had breakfast on the deck overlooking the spring.

We are returning in May of '17 for a weekend honeymoon. The owners are so kind and excellent communicators. They were happy for our engagement.

Nice large property but not good if you're there for the spring or river

  • 3 of 5

The property was absolutely beautiful and the cabin was clean but the spring was loaded with algae and river was not safely accessible. I was sold on the private spring and ability to easily access the Suwannee River (as the owner mentioned both of these features over the phone) so felt mislead when I arrived and didn't have access to either. It was disappointing. I was also told I could call the owner's daughter with any questions but she didn't return my calls. Also, no wifi, cable, dishwasher or laundry available at this cabin.

Private Spring made for a perfect stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a family of 5 stay over Memorial Day Weekend and our intentions were merely to stay on the property and relax the entire weekend. The private spring made it worth the stay. It was awesome to have a private area to swim in and just enjoy our family time. The owner was very quick to respond anytime I had a question. The house was clean and provided everything needed with plenty of extra's such as paper goods. There were outdoor chairs provided which was nice for the spring area. The river is just a short walk through a beautiful wooded area and with a small embankment to climb down we were able to fish the Suwanee. We are true Floridians and were prepared for mosquitoes but surprisingly they were not a problem at all. However, on the last day we were packing up and were walking the property and river to make sure we left no trace, we didn't get to take a swim so we did have chigger bites, swimming must have washed them off the first 2 days we were there. I suggest using a bug repellent when you visit. The chiggers are very common in wooded area's and not something a property owner would be able to control. Simple fix would be bug spray. This is a great place for large groups to stay, lots of room for kids of all ages just to be kids. We even got a visit from a neighbor's sweet hound dog who spent the day relaxing with us.

Owner's Response: Lisa, Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We are so happy you had a nice time! Hopefully the next time you visit there will be a dock to fish from. We started it this past weekend. Come back and stay again! Marianne and Nick
