Where do I start!
After meeting Brenda, the gracious owner, we drove right on up the winding road leading to our home for the week on Christmas Day.
The outside of the home was awe inspiring a complete half circle with a massive fireplace, in the middle, already we were so excited and we hadn't even entered the house yet!
Once inside, there is a very roomy bedroom with a king size bed and a couple of bureaus to unpack your belongings. Another spare with a full size bed. Both beds were extremely comfortable and all bedding was clean and warm. A full bath with a bathtub, which was important to us as my 5 year old only likes taking baths!
The kitchen had everything we needed, stove, dishwasher, full-size refrigerator, coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes, utensils and even a small crockpot! I was able to cook all week for my family.
There was a small utility room with a stackable washer and dryer, and enough room for some storage.
The main room which was the room we used the most had a 19'-20' inch television equipped with Netflix and DVDs. It has a table and 3 chairs, a futon and a love seat. The focal point of the room was a massive floor to ceiling circular fire place. It made the whole home comfy.
So many great aspects to this home and included details, like the pegs on the fireplace to hang coats or the fire pit outside, to included wood.
Brenda was so easy to get in touch with, every question was answered quickly and efficiently.
My 5 year old son, my little dog, my husband and I couldn't have asked for a better place, it suited our needs to perfection. Being able to watch my son sledding right out the front door while sitting inside enjoying the fire was priceless.
My family and I will be back, it was peaceful, tranquil and a special way to spend Christmas and the New Year! If you have any hesitations, I hope this review helps ease any concerns!
As you wind your way up the driveway thru the woods and reach the cabin you are in complete awe of the scenery. The views from inside and out of the cabin are incredible, the giant windows give you the feeling of being outside with nature. The cabin itself is beautiful and has all the amenities, the huge field stone fireplace is the center piece. We even had a deer visit us at breakfast one morning. Brenda the owner is such a gracious host and made sure we had everything we needed. We absolutely loved the Half Moon house and cannot wait to return!
My dog and I spent a week at the cabin in mid September. It was exactly what I wanted: secluded, quiet, well-equipped, peaceful. The back field is huge (great for the dog) and the view out the front is wonderful. No trouble staying cozy on the cold nights, and although the living room can get quite warm on sunny days (all those windows!), the bedrooms stayed cool. Plenty of hot water, lots of books, lovely spots to sit and eat breakfast in and outside the house. Brenda is very responsive but respected my desire for solitude and has a lovely sense of humor.
Solo travelers: I felt quite safe there (not because of the dog, she's 14#, arthritic, and 3-legged,) but when the oven ignites it sounds almost exactly like a car door slamming, which startled me horribly the first night. Wine helped. Bring wine.
Half Moon is well provisioned with all the amenities necessary. Thanks for the cool weather, gorgeous landscape, and peace. We enjoyed ourselves immensely.
We had a fantastic vacation at the Half Moon House. Brenda is an amazing host, very responsive to any questions asked, and she even took the time to make personalized suggestions for family activities with our young children. There are plenty of fun daytrips around the area. Then at the end of the day you get to comeback to a private home on top of a mountain with gorgeous views. What more could you ask for?
Brenda was very accommodating to all of our requests. The beds were very comfortable. I've never stayed in such a unique place before! Our only regret was the lack of time we had to enjoy it.
