Amazing stay at a magical place

  • 5 of 5

We spent the whole month of May 2017 in Half-Moon house, and were really sad to leave. The house itself is just wonderful, with large windows, amazing views, all the amenities one could need.

Within 24 hours of arriving, we felt the peace, tranquility and quiet of the place seep in; and the stars at night are spectacular!! We enjoyed walking in the upper and lower areas around the house, and had picnic lunches several times in the beautiful surroundings.

The house itself was spotlessly clean, very comfortable; with a fully equipped kitchen - full sized refrigerator and stove, dish-washer, coffee-maker, plenty of dishes and pots/pans. I enjoyed preparing meals there. For groceries, a large grocery store is only about 10 minutes drive – super easy to get to. Other features of the house include a full-bath (with tub), utility room with washer/dryer, very comfortable beds, lots of comfortable seating in the larger main room, and a magnificent fire-place that was the focal point of the main living room.

Brenda, our hostess, is just wonderful. She was so easy to reach by email, phone or text, she was super-quick to respond. Brenda is also just a lovely person, and I'm so pleased we had the opportunity to spend a little time with her and get to know her. Thank you Brenda – for sharing your home, and yourself with us.

Peace and quiet; wonderful views; convenient location (less than 10 mins to I-91), gorgeous and comfortable house, plus a wonderful hostess … what else could anyone need. Highly recommended!

thanks again Brenda!!

Knockout views and comfy, snuggle-in feel

  • 4 of 5

In good weather, with an SUV, the bumpy road up to the house is not bad. Just take it slow. Not sure I'd want to drive it in the rain, and certainly not in the snow. But when you step inside the 'cabin', the view across the mountains makes everything more than OK. And after you start a hot fire to take the chill off, you don't want to leave. Not fancy, but fine (and a little funky)

Serenity

  • 5 of 5

We came for serenity and we found it. Me, my wife, my mother-in-law and daughter stayed recently and had a wonderful, peaceful time. It really worked for me and my family. Thank you so much, Brenda, for sharing your home with us. You are a pleasure to work with and we are looking forward to future stays at the Half Moon House.

Total Peace and Quiet On A Hilltop Far, Far Away from it all

  • 5 of 5

Half Moon House is a truly unique house in a beautiful setting. Unfortunately we arrived on a day where constant rain urged the streams and rivers from their banks. A mudslide on the main road forced us to travel to HMH via narrow dirt roads! I never realized that Vermont is the land of dirt roads. Happily the house is a welcome haven from the storm, which raged into the night and provided quite a light show atop the hill.

The house is spacious, with two bedrooms with comfy mattresses, a sunken combo dining/living room area, a compact kitchen with everything right at hand, and a two-sinked bathroom with an orange walled bathtub. A washer and dryer and plenty of closet space add to the comfort.

The real star of HMH is the serenity and the views. Huge windows in the living room let us commune with nature. Sunrises are wonderful as are the sunsets and the moonrises. Instead of watching TV or fussing with our computers, after dinner we spent the evenings sitting by the cauldron of a firepit while discussing the day and what would come next (and, of course, drinking wine). Landlord Brenda has a great supply of firewood and newspaper for the cauldron. An amazing fire had been set up in the huge interior fireplace, but the warm weather called for sitting outside.

We found patches of wild strawberries while walking around the vast property. A promising crop of blackberry bushes is tucked at the end of the cut lawn area. Wildflowers like daisies, Black-Eyed Susans, milkweed, purple clover, and yarrow add color to the lawn's edge. Lovely!

If you’re looking for total peace and quiet in a rural setting far, far away from it all, HMH is the place for you. I didn't want to leave. Thanks, Brenda, for offering this amazing house to city-dwellers seeking silence.
