Why David Cooper chose Eastern Market

Historic Capitol Hill is truly a downtown suburb that offers all the excitement of the city yet retains a safe and small neighborhood feel. The residents here are a tight-knit group comprised mostly of families who possess a strong sense of community. Nestled within the long rows of neighborhood homes you will find pockets of excitement ranging from a multitude of eating establishments to DC's only remaining original public produce market, known as Eastern Market. And of course it's extremely close proximity to the Capitol and various Smithsonian museums puts you literally at the doorstep of our nation's history. It is an absolutely wonderful location for both residents and visitors alike!

What makes this townhome unique

No expense was spared in remodeling and furnishing this house. You will be staying in an historic home complete with modern amenities. Location-wise, everything you need (restaurants, groceries, shopping, Metro) is within 2 blocks and everything you want to see (Capitol, Library of Congress, National Mall, Smithsonian museums) is just a few blocks further and within easy walking distance. Live amongst the locals and truly feel at home during your visit!

Great property, Excellent Neighborhood, Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was very functional and well appointed for our small family of four. It was absolutly perfect for our visit to DC with our young children. The unit is conveniently located within easy walking distance to the metro station and located on a quiet street within a nice neighborhood. It was great having the corner grocery just a few doors down and a nearby coffee shop less than a block away.

A very nice and unique feature was the garage. Parking was no problem and access to the apartment was very easy with the keypad.

Each morning we enjoyed breakfast in the kitchen and it was nice to have a laundry room as well. Not sure if it was planned but there was Shiner Bock beer in the fridge and this Texan says "Thank You!" The owner was extremely responsive in all communications. All in all it was a great place to stay on a budget, with a small family, and we would definitely go back!

Convenient, great neighborhood

  • 4 of 5

The basement apartment was conveniently located, close to the Capitol Building yet nestled into a quiet street with a nice neighborhoody feel. There's a very small upscale grocery right on the block and several take-out options in easy walking distance. A little further there is a real full-size grocery store, a specialty beer shop and many other amenities.

Street parking was not a problem for us. We used the provided parking permit and just left our car on the street the whole time and took Uber when we needed to go further than walking distance. It was easy getting in and out of the apartment with the keypad on the door.

The apartment itself is nicely appointed. The modern kitchen has a dishwasher, coffee maker, full-size refrigerator with sub-zero freezer, dishes, cookware, and plenty of cabinet space. There's also a tucked-away laundry room with modern appliances and a bathroom with a large shower (no tub). The finishes were all tasteful and contemporary but there were a few items that were in need of cosmetic repair.

All in all it was a great place to stay on a budget and we would definitely go back!

Comfortable and Cozy in a Great Location!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely little row apartment with everything you need. This is a perfect location with easy access to the Capitol, National Mall, and all the things Washington DC has to offer. We brought our bikes and enjoyed riding around the city. The neighborhood is friendly and has a great coffee shop, local grocery store, and an Italian restaurant within walking distance. We loved it!

Basement Apartment.

  • 5 of 5

Apartment is located on a very lovely street within walking distance of many restaurants. It was close enough to the Capital Mall, where we walked to every morning we were there. The apartment itself was very comfortable and updated and clean. It is listed for up to 4 people, but I think that would have been a little tight if there are four of you. Has one bedroom and the sofa makes into a bed, and one bathroom. I think it is better suited for two people. It was perfect for us. There is "walking noise" from unit above. First people while we were there were very quiet (shoes off). Second ones were noisier as they had on shoes, but never heard any talking or tv. Enjoyed our stay and working with the owner was very good. One thing I suggest is that you have mosquito repellent with you. Entry area seems to be good place for them to congregate as it is low and covered by above unit's stairs and landscaping as you come down the stairs. There was some spray in the apt. we used a few times to keep them away from the front door. Other than that, we had a wonderful time.

Great location!

  • 3 of 5

We appreciated the opportunity to stay in this unit, a 5 minute walk to the Union Station/Metro, which we used to go everywhere! As the homeowner is no longer living in the DC area, there is some slight deferred maintenance, nothing too major. The most difficult was the very firm mattress. The seller was very nice and ordered a memory foam cover to help soften the bed and it was delivered the next morning. It helped however the mattress went from rock hard to firm.

Owner's Response: Mattresses are obviously a matter of personal preference, and this one happens to be, in my opinion, one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on. Regardless, I did my best to accommodate Annette by purchasing a mattress topper at her request.
