About the property

An amazing home on its own peninsula

This home has just been remodeled with a gourmet kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 3 custom bathrooms. The Master suite walks out onto the deck with a hot tub just steps away. The views from the Master and the living spaces are like no other. Everyone that comes to visit cant believe how wonderful the views and the remodel is done with high end finishes. Watch the sea crashing all around, children playing on the beach,, birds soar by the edge of the cliffs and sunsets are never missed with the over 180 degree view. I dedicated the last 1 1/2 years to making the home as wonderful as the surroundings. I think you'll agree, this is a dream come true .....

We where so excited when we arrived at the rental house. The views are just amazing!!! We where taken away by the location & the views from all directions. The house is newly renovated with beautiful bathrooms & a cool kitchen. The view from the Master Bedroom & Master shower are just perfect. The sound of the ocean all day & night are so soothing. We enjoyed the hot tub too, also with an infinity view of the ocean! We would love to come back with the rest of our family next time....what a great time. Thanks for having us.

Great property in beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here for four nights during the week of July 4th and had a great time. The house is located about 10 minutes north of Fort Bragg on a rock outcropping above a beach area. We had four adults and one child in our group and the home had plenty of room for all of us. The home had all the amenities needed to make our stay comfortable: kitchen supplies, comfortable furniture and bedding, BBQ, hot tub, TV's, DVD players, etc. We cooked meals every day while there and were always able to find the right pan, pot or utensil. The owner has done a great job of stocking the house with everything needed. The home has lots of windows and skylights, creating a bright and inviting interior. Overall the house is very clean and well kept.

The location is amazing. You can sit outside on the deck and overlook the beach area and the ocean. Even better, you can do that while sitting in the hot tub. There is a trail that the owner has built that leads down to the beach that is well maintained, making it easy to access the beach. The beach itself is very nice and at low tide we were able to find some good sized sand dollars. It's also a great place for watching the sunset.

As other reviewers have noted, the owner lives in a small cottage at the very end of the bluff. He met us when we arrived and showed us around the property, explaining how things work, how to access the beach and gave us the general lay of the land.

Overall, we had a great trip and really enjoyed staying at this property. It definitely exceeded our expectations and would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area.

The most beautiful views

  • 4 of 5

The views here are amazing! We watched whales while eating on the deck! There are some binoculars in the house but I would suggest you bring another pair! The beds are super comfortable and the beach is superb! Deryl made a great little trail down to the beach. My son loved digging for sand crabs. The cliff was a downside, we have young kids so it was nerve racking to have them outside. The guesthouse that the owner stays in is right in front of the house, the sun set just left of it so we still had a view of it. We liked that we were able to park the cars behind the house so we didn’t have them blocking the view. I’ve stayed at several VRBOs before but never with the owner on site. It wasn’t as secluded as I liked with the owner stopping by daily but deryl was kind and took the trash out for us and gave us great suggestions. Deryl suggested a hike for us that we absolutely loved! We had a great time, loved the hot tub! I wish there was a washer and dryer available at the house but that’s my fault for not checking before we went. In all it was a beautiful home that is beautifully furnished with the most amazing views!

Owner's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed your visit. Yes watching the whales breach and play as your day goes by is amazing. Although most my guests bring kids, I only reccomend well behaved children as there are cliffs on the property. There is an acre of land away from the cliffs if they want to play or ride bikes ... Being out on a private peninsula is what makes the view so spectacular. Yes sometimes I live in the guest house there and I'm always kind and helpful the few minutes a day you may see me. Although tiny it's 200 yards away and blocks only a tiny tiny bit of The View a few days of the year as the sun sets in a different place every day of the year. It's a landmark home so it actually adds to the view. As for watching sunsets, my home is one of the few homes that sees the sun set every day of the year. Most homes are in coves or are restricted by peninsulas like mine for seeing the View or they don't face proper west. You told me it is the nicest vacation home you've ever stayed in so I appreciate that. I might recommend longer than a 3-day stay to really get to know the place. It's just more beautiful here than words can say. Endless Blessings friend

Follow-up comments on VRBO #735150

We four seniors recently completed a delightful week at the magical site and home-away-from home at Deryl Deavenport’s property. It is located a 10-minute or so drive north of Fort Bragg. Our stay met every expectation that we had developed as a result of the marketing information provided on the VRBO’s entry. Indeed, our expectations were exceeded. This is because of the high quality of the property and the area.

The house and the site: the house is modern and fresh. The infrastructure works. The furnishings are attractive and just what is needed for four (or six) people. Everyone had the space required for privacy as well as for group interaction.

The region of the house: we went to the property expecting to be content with spending most of our time relaxing in the house. This was our mindset because we had driven through Fort Bragg within the last decade and we were unimpressed. On this visit to the area, we had the time to drill down into the particulars of the town and some of the nearby attractions. Fort Bragg is a kind of gritty place where folks are working and making the place work for them. Tourists have plenty to do; a week is not enough time to do the area justice. Some of the small and medium-size businesses, especially on Laurel Street, are worth exploring. The restaurant scene is good. The seafood places of the Noyo Harbor and marina area are highly recommended. The town and area have a range of breakfast places, located from Little River to the heart of Fort Bragg. The northeast corner location of the intersection of California Route 20 and California Route 1 has, among other retail options, fine grocery and diner choices. Saturday night jazz and excellent ice cream in town also are noteworthy. There is more to discover, but we don’t want to spoil your exploration of Fort Bragg’s region by listing more.

Lastly, Deryl, the owner of this VRBO-listed property is a fine host. Most of the above attractions were a result of his useful answers to our questions. We did not have the time to take advantage of the many California State Parks nearby; nor did we begin to tap into the nearby deep wine tasting and wineries of the region. Deryl is open to suggestions and his knowledge of the touristic resources of the region is a major bonus in renting this property. Would we return to Deryl’s place? Absolutely, we would return; already we have begun to talk about when.

Beautiful Home in a Stunning Location!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have stayed in a number of homes across the US and Europe. This was one of the most amazing experiences. The combination of the beautiful home and the absolutely stunning location can't be beat anywhere in the world. This will be our new "go to" getaway spot.

Breathtaking views, peaceful location, first class furnishings, well stocked kitchen, hot tub, fire pit table, outdoor grill, walkable to fabulous walking beach, gracious and helpful host -- what more could you ask for?
