I started Alpacas d'Auxvasse in 2003 with 3 pregnant, female alpacas. That number has grown to almost 40. I invite you to experience the wonder of my farm. Help feed the alpacas, play in the garden, wander around the property and take in the sights, sounds and smells of nature. If you'd like to learn a new skill, I offer classes that will teach you how to prepare alpaca fleece starting on the animal and taking it all the way to a finished scarf! Consider my farm for a small retreat with your friends or family.
Ann Mayes purchased this farmhouse in 2003
The property was perfect for my dream of raising alpacas. I have a small farm store and studio here.
Peace and tranquility! Stargazing! Beautiful views! Perfect for anyone who loves nature but appreciates the comforts of a beautiful home. Close enough to Fulton and Columbia to enjoy dinner at fine restaurants, take in a movie, attend a theatre presentation or wander the historic districts. Lots of hiking in State wildlife areas or municipal trails plus miles of gravel roads outside your door.
I cannot possibly describe what an awesome experience it was of me and my family to stay at Ann's farm. The house is awesomely equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There was a charcoal grill available in the back yard that we used to cook out. There was a washer and dryer in the basement which is a fantastic amenity for a week stay.
The best part though is the fantastic views from the back porch. We all sat outside in the morning and marveled at the hummingbirds that come and feed right outside. Beyond the hummingbird feeder is an open pasture where alpacas roam. They are fantastic to watch. We were welcome to pet and feed the alpacas and they were the most gentle and docile creatures. It was a great experience to see them up close.
Ann was an amazing host. She gave as a quick orientation to the house but an even more memorable introduction to the workings of an alpaca farm. We got to feed and roam among the alpacas throughout the farm. Ann was kind enough to show us through her workshop where she processes all of the fiber.
We loved it. My kids (8 and 11) were never at a loss for something to do. If you are looking for a farm experience, alpaca immersion, or something close to Columbia this is the place to stay. I would recommend Ann's farm over any place in the area.
Stayed here for a week on a hunting trip. The house was very clean and well kept. There was plenty of room for myself and 3 hunting partners plus our gear. The owner was very accommodating! Thanks Anne!
Ann, I spoke with my brother who was in charge of the crew this week. He insisted that I jump on the computer and write a great review. He stated that the house was very nice, but wanted me to focus on you as a host. He said that you were among the kindest, most helpful people he has ever had the opportunity to meet. This means a great deal to me as it is difficult for the guys to be gone for long stretches at a time (half of the crew had been out for 3 straight weeks). It makes everything seem less stressful when you are blessed to have a wonderful person such as yourself involved. Thank you so much for taking care of my guys. We will certainly be back if MO is on our schedule next year. I would recommend your place to anyone that is looking in that area!
Enjoy the peace and tranquility of farm life away from city lights and noise. Enjoy your favorite beverage on the screened porch, while watching the sun rise and set. Feed an alpaca, read a book, walk miles of gravel roads, explore nearby wildlife parks, BBQ, and stargaze. Learn a new craft such as spinning, weaving or rugmaking. Above all, do it on your own time at your own pace.
When you are ready for some excitement, visit Fulton's Brick District, have dinner, visit The Art House, have dinner at one of the many restaurants. Columbia is only a 45 minute drive offering world class Theater, Art, Sports and Dining
