3 bedroom house sleeps 5, easy walking distance to the beach and town centre

'Somerley' is a delightful spacious home located in a quiet road in Deal's historic conservation area and is a few minutes walk from the sea and the centre of Deal. Deal high street was voted High Street of the year for 2013 by the Daily Telegraph. The house is a short drive from excellent golf courses and the bus and train stations are both within walking distance. London and Canterbury are within easy reach by road and rail. Deal is conveniently located for day trips to France.

The house was built in the early 1800’s and retains much of its original character. The sitting room and dining room have wood panelled walls and attractive gas fires. There is comfortable seating and a choice of D.V.D's to watch on the flat screen T.V. Guests are welcome to use the books and games in the house.

The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you might need for your visit.

There are three bedrooms on the first floor, one double, a twin and a single. In addition to the first floor bathroom, the single room is fitted with a sink. There is a private courtyard garden with a restful water feature, which offers a lovely space to sit outside and enjoy summer evenings and even have a BBQ.

The games room in the cellar is a fun place for adults and children alike, especially if the weather is not so good.

On your arrival there will be a welcome pack to help you settle into your home away from home.

We have lived in the area since 2000 and we love being by the sea and yet in a town at the same time. Our children have grown up in a safe delightful place which is dear to all of us.

I have always admired the pretty houses in Deal, particularly in the Conservation area. We love our house because it has character and charm and it is in the heart of a thriving town and yet in a peaceful spot.

What makes this house unique

Many of our guests comment on how well equipped the house is. We really do try to provide everything anyone could want on holiday and to make the house as welcoming as possible. We love our house and we want our guests to feel that it is theirs during their stay.

Home from home

We had a comfortable family stay for 2-nights. The house is very cosy and has lots of little thoughtful touches - such as the tourist leaflets and the kids DVD selection, plus the housekeeper that came to meet us soon after we had arrived suggested a lovely lunch spot. We were lucky with the weather in November and it was a gorgeous sunny day on the Saturday to spend a day walking along the sea and visiting the castle. We have two children and the games room was an absolute hit!

Perfect Place to stay, Highly recommended

We are just back in London after a great weekend away staying at this property. The house is very cute and it suited our family of five perfectly. We loved the kitchen which was really well set up for guests. The rooms were all comfortable and cosy. The house was very clean and really was the best holiday house set-up we have stayed at. The kids loved the basement games room (as did the adults!). Lots of small touches really made a difference, fresh Bread, Milk and Butter, large towels and it was nice and warm when we arrived. Easy and friendly communication all the way, we really couldn't fault it. We strolled to the market on Saturday, a few minutes walk away and then had a look around the shops which were really nice. We managed lots of outdoor activities as well. We drove to Pegwell Bay on Saturday morning (about 20 mins) and did the local park run. We also headed for Betteshanger Country Park in the afternoon (2.5 miles) for some mountain biking which was fantastic. We found the local skate park for scooter riding and also a kick around with the football next to it. Thanks so much for a great weekend Wendy and Eileen, we'll be in touch to see if we can come again.

Highly recommended / Sehr zu empfehlen

I highly recommend Deal and the house. It is centrally located, so you do not need a car to the grocery store, train station, high street or the beach. It is totally comfortable and has enough space. There were four of us. If you like to cook on vacation, it makes a lot of fun in the large kitchen and especially with the large stove. From the kitchen you go into the courtyard. We ate there very often. If the weather is kind it is warm and windless. Deal is a really great city. There is a lot of small shops, greengrocers, butchers, bakers, cafés and pubs. It's just fun to stroll and shop through the very busy High Street. In Deal there are a lot of good places to eat, from fish and chips up to restaurants. We liked it very much!

Ich kann Deal und das Haus nur empfehlen. Es liegt sehr zentral, so dass man kein Auto zum Supermarkt, Bahnhof, High Street oder zum Strand braucht. Es ist total gemütlich und bietet ausreichend Platz. Wir waren zu viert dort. Wenn man auch im Urlaub gerne kochte, macht das in der große Küche und vorallem mit dem große Herd sehr viel Spaß. Von der Küche aus geht man in den Innenhof. Wir haben dort sehr oft gegessen. Bei schönem Wetter ist es dort warm und windstill. Deal ist eine ganz tolle Stadt. Es gibt dort sehr viele kleine Läden, Gemüsehändler, Metzger, Bäcker, Cafés und Pubs. Es macht einfach Spaß durch die sehr belebte Hight Street zu bummeln und einzukaufen.

In Deal kann man auch gut Essen gehen von Fish and Chips bis zum Restaurant. Uns hat es dort sehr gut gefallen!

We try to make the house feel more than just a holiday home so that guests can just relax and enjoy themselves.Deal really is a hidden gem, there is so much to do locally and it is easy to reach larger attractions. The high speed rail makes access to London quicker and France is just over the water! The best part for us about Deal is being able to walk to everything and enjoy the shops, restaurants, morning markets and taking tea to the beach.

Really good property 5 minutes from sea and high street quiet road and easy to find parking Good for buses.Property very clean and all bedrooms really good plenty of towels and well equipped kitchen courtyard eating area games room a real bonus.Owner easy to deal with and for two adults and three children an ideal property and good value for money Highly recommended if you prefer the seaside as it used to be

Quiet spot in a beautiful town!

Had a wonderful time in Deal! House came fully as advertised, was very clean and quiet, and all the utilities worked great! The Deal Pier, waterfront restaurants, and ocean view created an awesome vacation spot. Would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a great holiday.

Convenient, well kept house.

Nice house on a very quiet street. Superb kitchen and useful room in the cellar with games (though with steep stairs, mind your head going down). Close to the beach, centre of town, and a Sainsburys so no need to drive around. We had a lovely time visiting nearby towns and just walking on the beach.

Deal is an historic market town which has its own castle built for King Henry 8th within walking distance and further castles near by at Walmer, Dover and Sandwich. It has endless winding streets which have many quaint buildings and the area is steeped in smuggling lore. To visit Deal is to step back in time and yet it also offers all the amenities of a modern town, excellent restaurants and pubs plus a wide range of shops and a huge choice of outdoor activities.

Deal pier has won awards for the great fishing it offers and the newly renovated pier end restaurant offers customers the chance to sit and enjoy their meal looking over the sea. There are spectacular walks to be taken along the sea front and up the cliffs towards St Margaret's and Dover. Watersports are available in Deal, sailing, rowing and windsurfing are very popular. The Telegraph has just voted Deal No 1 in Top Spots To Lay Your Towel. The long beach is rarely busy and is a wonderful place from which to swim and paddle.
