FLAGLER BEACH IS LIKE STEPPING BACK INTO THE PAST. IT DOES NOT ALLOW CHAIN RESTAURANTS, OR HOTELS. THERE ARE MANY ACTIVITIES, WONDERFUL RESTAURANTS, AND GREAT MUSIC. THE PROPERTY ALSO IS CLOSE TO MANY ATTRACTIONS.
WHERE ELSE CAN YOU GET 300 FT OCEAN FRONT PROPERTY WITH YOUR OWN PRIVATE BEACH.
This place is perfect. The beach is right across the street, which is not busy at all. Incredible view from the 3rd story main living area. The beach is private I guess so there is hardly anyone else out there. We saw dolphins everyday and even saw baby sea turtles hatching on our last night there. It is three stories like I said and underneath the second story is a carport with a grill. It was shaded and cool even in august with a heat index of 105 most days. All bedrooms are comfortable and cool. Just 30 or so minutes from St. Augustine. That area of the A1A is not crowded at all. There is a little convenience store two blocks from the house for quick pick ups. Or, you are just a ten minute drive from a publix supermarket. Plenty of restaurants by the pier. I heard they were all very good. We ate at Flagler seafood co. I think it was called. I would recommend it. Don't let the house not being directly on the beach dissuade you. It is really just like the distance of a big backyard to get to the beach. I would bring a Kuerig if you like your coffee fast, their machine is a little slow but still fine. I would recommend that the landlords make an extra set of keys also. We locked ourselves out. Luckily they came quickly with a spare. Sorry again about that. We really couldn't ask for much more everything was just great. Thanks again!
We had a great stay in this beautiful home in April 2016. It's very up-to-date, has wi-fi and direct tv (if you plan on using it). It had all the kitchen utensils/cups/bowls you would need to make meals. And yes, it has a coffee maker (uses cone filters, btw). Don't forget to buy your paper goods, etc for the home before you arrive if you've never rented a vacation home before (ex. toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, hand soap, aluminum foil etc). The one thing it was missing was some beach chairs to take along to the beach, but since we bought four chairs and left them there, there should be some now!
The beach is across the street (the A1A) so you do have cars driving by the front of the house, however, it didn't bother us. The one thing i will say, is that they do not show any picture of the beach front homes across the street off to your right (and also one in front of you. All of the pictures only show the left side of the home where there are no houses). That was something i would have liked to have known before i got there. However, there is plenty of ocean to be seen from your deck. And it's the easiest walk across the street. Once you cross the street, there is a little pathway directly in front of you on the side of the home that sits in front of you that you can use to access the beach (the people that live in that house are very nice, btw).
Also, do not be alarmed that you don't book through homeaway.com (for anyone who's fearful of booking off-site). It is actually through Marsha from Tavolacci Realty, but it is all legit.
We went to a few of the restaurants in the area, which we enjoyed. The home is about 3.5 miles north of downtown Flagler Beach. It was about a 5 min drive. The town is very small and they say that it isn't really a touristy town, so if you are looking for a place where you can just 'be', this is it. Also St. Augustine is straight north on the A1A if you want to take a day trip up there. It took just under an hour to get there and we loved it there (lots of shopping!). And by the way, just in case anyone is wondering, there is a Target about 15 minutes away (and a Publix about 7 minutes away) that we used to buy all of our food (we planned out our weekly menu ahead of time and did some cooking about 4 of the 7 nights) and supplies.
We also spent a day at Universal Studios (Harry Potter World) which was only a 1.5 hr drive away as well (therefore Disney is about the same distance).
10 miles from Marineland, 25 miles from Saint Augustine, and 20 miles to Daytona Beach.
