The guesthouse is located in the vibrant and historic Columbia City neighborhood. Just a short walk away from Lake Washington which has beaches for summer swimming and a long path for walking year round. Also 5 minutes away from Seward Park which is a great place for walking, running, biking, and exploring.
I'm from Alaska originally but have lived in Washington for most of my life. I live in Seattle with my husband and our baby. We love to travel and see new places. Although, having a new baby has kept us closer to home lately. Before having a baby we enjoyed traveling in Cuba, Mexico, Hawaii, Canada, the San Juans and we had an amazing honeymoon in Greece. We hope to be able to travel more when our daughter gets a little older. For the time being are enjoying hosting guests in our new guesthouse. We hope people enjoy exploring our fantastic neighborhood and city. I enjoy making people feel at home and hope to be able to offer great insight and recommendations for things to do and places to see while in Seattle.
Elyse Thomas purchased this cabin in 2010
I truly enjoyed coming "home" every evening during my stay in Seattle. The cottage felt safe, and the location was super convenient, just around the corner from the Link train station. The guesthouse itself was pretty and very clean, well-designed and with all the amenities one would hope for!
Cozy and comfortable. Close to transportation. All the amenities. We'll be back!
My husband and I stayed here four nights and while visiting our daughter who also lives in the Columbia City neighborhood. The guesthouse is very bright and clean, with the upstairs having a view of the mountains. It was well appointed and perfect size for two guests. It is located a short walk from the light rail which takes you to downtown or the airport, and to the coffee shops, restaurants, and grocery store in Colombia City and Hillman City. If you plan to visit locations in the city, you really don't need a car when staying here. Community is diverse which offers many options for dining!
Clean, well organized, beautifully decorated, full of light. There was a book that featured near-by shops and activities. There's a park and playground around the corner and the neighborhood is full of food and fun. The bed was comfortable and the shower hot. There were a couple of friendly spiders that came to say hello and were easily disposed of. The owners are friendly and available if you need them. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely be requesting this cottage again!
Will stay again when in Seattle. Clean and tastefully decorated. Two minute walk to Link light rail.
There are not enough nice things that I can say about Elyse, Earl, and their guesthouse. The pictures online don't do the house justice, it is even cuter and roomier than than the photos let on. The house was very clean, and the property around it was very pretty. The bed and the futon are very comfortable, and the house is full of all of the amenities that you need for a nice getaway. We made breakfast everyday to save a little money and never had a problem preparing our meals. The house is also in a great location, it is in a quiet little neighborhood that is close to many shops and restaurants. We made a 10 minute walk down to Rainier every night to eat at all of the delicious local restaurants. The link station is about a five minute walk away to take you all over the city. Elyse and Earl were also great hosts, they made us feel very welcome and wanted us to be comfortable. There is even a binder that they put together full of places to go eat and see in the area, we ate at 4 of their restaurant recommendations and they were all quite tasty. We would definitely stay here again!
