Lovely and so peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Stayed for a week with my husband and four children. Plenty of space for all of us. Such a beautiful home! We really enjoyed the remote location and had the house stocked with groceries...well worth the cost. We made many of our own meals, especially breakfast. Most days we set off in the morning for the beach, once for a sailing trip with Serendipity tours out of Playa Flamingo (highly recommend!!) and twice for surfing lessons at Playa Avellanas. The house has plenty of beach towels and washer/dryer which is so convenient. We spent most afternoons in the pool which was amazing!! Jordy is the property caretaker and keeps the grounds and the pool looking lovely! It was especially nice to have him there to charge our rental car battery when we left the headlights on overnight-oops! We brought some snacks and games from home and stopped at duty free for some libations so we spent most of our evenings in enjoying family time. We had dinner once at Villa Deveena in Playa Negra and once at Dragonfly in Tamarindo. The little store just down the hill from the house in Pinilla was really nice for when we needed ice and soft drinks. The four wheel drive rental car was excellent for the driving we did, be prepared to take your time getting around as the roads are gravel and can be rough. The directions provided by Mary really do work to get you to the house, but having GPS and a downloaded google map of the region was really nice too! The only difficulty we had with the house was when the water supply was briefly off due to a problem with the town well water supply...and you have to be VERY careful with the septic system, no toilet paper in the toilets, which is true for most of the region. Takes some getting used to but it goes with the territory. Also be prepared for critters like salamanders and centipedes and scorpions; they spray the house and keep it very clean but it’s in the middle of the jungle! We didn’t let anything stop us from opening the glass doors wide and enjoying the views. Costa Rica is a beautiful, friendly, safe country and this home is a truly gorgeous way to enjoy being part of the region while feeling pampered at the same time. Every one of the kids said they would return and we hope to do so very soon!

Beautiful house in the middle of nowhere...

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house, it has all the amenities we desired, it was clean, spacious, very modern and has the most breathtaking views. The multi-level pool was perfect for us, we could swim laps and play with our baby in the shallow area of the pool.

We would absolutely stay here again on our next trip.

What a gorgeous view!!! The pool was fantastic. The home was so much more than we expected.

  • 4 of 5

Pictures online don’t convey how nice this home is. The vistas were amazing whether enjoying the view of the ocean from the relaxing infinity pool or laying on the chaise at night admiring the multitude of stars in the sky.

It was a girls weekend to remember. Upon arrival Garrett and his wife Marcella, of PuraVida Catering, prepared a fabulous Costa Rican dinner for us. We arrived to Casa Cielos after a travel day of delays. Garrett and his wife were accommodating and the meal was tremendous!

Another great event was a morning yoga class with Katie Martin, out in the veranda. We really enjoyed Katie’s relaxing class while looking out over Guanacaste. We would highly recommend her sweet style of yoga, massage and inspiration!

Mary of Beachgrass Rentals arranged all of this for us. She was very helpful in coordinating activities within Casa Cielos!

Near the home we found a goat farm n purchased yummy fresh eggs, cheese, yogurt n milk. Carlos owned the farm. He spoke English and was very helpful with local shopping choices.

JWMarriott is down the street n a great option pool and Oceanside dining. Lola’s on Playa Avenella was beautiful for sunset. Beach Burger has a great breakfast and Amanda at BB provided great local recommendations.

We didn’t care for Blu as dinner was over an hour for food to arrive n not very good. Go to Blu, down from Lola’s, for the cool tiki hut, great cocktails n nice servers!!

Tamarindo is about a 20 minute drive from house. Pangas Restaurant was beautiful! Waterside under banyon trees with awesome food!

We took a sunset cruise on a catamaran via Blu Dolohin tours. Awesome!!! We toured the beaches north of Tamarindo via ATV Tamarindo Dreamer Adventures. Conchal n Flamingo Beaches were picturesque! I’m not an ATV lover but it was a fun way to see many beaches at once. Would like to tour via horseback if we had more time.

Finally, The roads of Costa Rica are really archaic. Be prepared for extra time to get to your locations n be patient. I wouldn’t recommend a walk outside the house. It’s very steep and unpaved. The potties are septic and needed tending. The house has two pups on site to keep critters away. They were very sweet around us but their barking kept us up at night. Doggies in Costa Rica are free to roam so keep in mind that Costa Rican dog culture is much different than in the states. That being said, the nature of a 3rd world country did not outweigh its amazing natural beauty!!

Simply Paradise

  • 5 of 5

If possible, this property is even more beautiful than in the pictures. It truly is a ‘house in the heavens’ with spectacular views of mountainous landscape, canopy and the ocean below. This is a spacious home with great attention to detail. The furnishings are beautiful and the spacious layout provided more than enough room for the four of us (two couples). Loved the design of this home with patio doors opening up to the patio with an outdoor kitchenette and beautiful infinity pool. All the amenities you would need are provided. Loved the outdoor shower in the master bedroom. It was not necessary to even use the air conditioning during the day as there was always a nice breeze (or strong wind) and we just opened up the patio doors and used the ceiling fans. You truly feel complete tranquility floating in the infinity pool taking in that amazing view – could not get enough of it.

Alfredo opened the gate for us when we arrived and he and his son helped bring our luggage in. We met his adorable dogs Cocoa 1 and 2 and he showed us through the home. Wished we spoke more Spanish, but we were able to use a translator app while we were there to talk to Alfredo a little more. Very nice man and he was always quick to open the gate for us when we returned and kept the pool spotless every day.

We usually headed out after breakfast to enjoy the beaches in the area. Playa Avellanas was beautiful and we really enjoyed Lola’s for lunch and a couple of cold drinks while watching the surfers. Playa Junquillal provided miles of beach to walk on while watching the local fisherman and surfers. Very few other people there. We headed to the north end towards Playa Blanca - so pretty and secluded. Tamarindo was great for watching the sunset and buying some souvenirs but I have to say, I found the quieter secluded beaches near Casa en los Cielos more beautiful. Playa Conchal was another favourite with turquoise water and we also visited Playa Brasilito and Flamingo while there. In the afternoon we would head back and enjoy a swim in the pool.

Loved the secluded location the home, but there were plenty of restaurants to choose from in the area that were a short drive away and Tamarindo is only about a 20 minute drive away. We also enjoyed cooking some meals and relaxing here. A car is a must to stay at this property – preferably a 4x4. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us and we hope to return.

Beautiful Property and Serenity Above the Jungle

  • 5 of 5

We were a two separate families, with seven people total staying in the house! The house is gorgeous and you can't help but feel relaxed looking out above the jungle and over to the ocean! It comes equipped with everything you could possible need; blender, toaster, wifi, Netflix, washer and dryer, beach towels, coffee maker and everything you would possibly need for cooking! The caretaker is so helpful, opening and closing the gate for you and taking care of any small issues! He speaks no English and we speak no Spanish, but it was never a problem. We got a flat tire one day and he put on our spare for us and got us on our way! And Mary, from the property rental company is very helpful too and was always available to answer questions and help us out (place to get flat tire fixed)! The house is set up quite nicely, with one large king bedroom and guest bedroom on one side and then the kitchen and living room, with the master bedroom on the other side. The large panel of windows looking out on to the pool and ocean opens up, and we got such a lovely breeze each day, that we only used the air conditioning in the evening when we had to shut them up! The breeze also keeps the mosquitos away, as we truly never saw any up there, and only experienced them down in Tamarindo. There are howler monkeys on the trees surrounding the house, and we walked down the dirt road to peer and gawk at them with the kids! This is the jungle, so be ready for monkeys howling at dawn and seeing large harmless bugs and an occasional scorpions roaming the grounds! The dirt road up the house is actually better than the main dirt road headed to the beach, but be prepared to drive a good 10 or 15 minutes on dirt roads. The closest beaches only take 15 minutes to get to, Playa Negra was by far the quietest and if you go to the left, you will be out of the surfers way to boogie board and ride the waves! We all loved this house and how serene and quiet it was! Everyone loved this beautiful house and wanted to stay longer. My only recommendation would be to put darker curtains in the master bedroom, as the others had them and 5:30 am sunrise comes pretty early! But then again you get time to sit out on the patio with your coffee in hand and listen to the jungle come alive!
