About Rob & Karen Harrison

We are never happier than when outdoors under the warm Perigourdine sun, after spending many years commuting on planes, trains and automobiles we settled here in the Dordogne 14 years ago and have never looked back....

Rob & Karen Harrison purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Rob & Karen Harrison chose Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil

After holidaying in the Dordogne in 2003 we fell in love with the blue skys and outstanding natural beauty of the area and just a year later we were living here!!

Fanatstic stay...home from home

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cosy and clean property. Perfect for our toddler as well as baby monitor, high chair, stair gates all provided.

We were the only people staying onsite at the time as we visited at the end of he season, and had the lovely well kept grounds to stroll around in.

Lots to see and visit in the local area without travelling far.

Karen and Rob were both very helpful and friendly providing us with useful local information and were always on hand when needed.

Unfortunately our (ryanair) flight was cancelled the day before we due to fly home, we were able to extend our stay to allow us to fly home the next day and Rob even researched some info for us about claiming back money from the airline.

Would recommend a relaxing break here!

Perfect cottage in a perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

Having stayed in a number of cottages within the area, La Forge and the facilities it offers set the standards for others to beat. Following a 9 hr drive Karen and Rob were waiting to meet us and I can say that from the initial communications to the very last day of our holiday they were perfect friendly hosts throughout. La Forge was a dream with great facilities inside and a wonderful streamside terrace complete with bbq that was used most nights. Given the hot weather we had I was pleasantly surprised how cool the inside kept.

The grounds of La Banquet are scenic and idyllic with a good sized well maintained swimming pool and the games room was perfect for my 7-year-old daughter and had stuff in that would keep most kids very happy.

Conveniently located to explore both the Vezere and Dordogne valleys, La Banquet’s location made trips as far east and west as Rocamadour and Bergerac painless whilst having Sarlat just a 20 min drive away. Again Karen and Rob were on hand to give advice about the best places to visit and how to get there.

Definitely top of our list of places to return to in the future!

As good as it gets. Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Having just returned from Le Banquet with our three young girls , we cant recomend it enough.

Immaculate in every aspect. Our children had an enormous area of perfectly landscaped gardens to play in and were completely safe , which really put us at ease .

The pool was perfect . The house was amazing, so tasteful with everything you could possibly need. And to add to all that Rob and Karen were the perfect hosts, welcoming and approachable, especially to my two slightly talkative little ones !

If you youre visiting the Dordogne , then you will not find a better place to stay while doing so .

Highly recommended .

Liam moran.

Fantastic family destination ******

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have been happier with our choice to spend 3 weeks at Le banquet. The edge of village location in such a fantastic area was perfect, and the facilities were top notch. Our two children (4&5) loved the very well stocked play barn and were very hard to remove from the pool and inflatables. The gites are so well thought out and stocked it was a home from home. Karen and Rob (the owners) are so welcoming and knowledgeable about the area, and generally couldn't do enough for us and were great with the kids. With so much to see and do we're returning again next...roll on summer 2018!

Idyllic Countryside Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed out stay at Rob and Karen's cottages!

We were greeted by Rob and Karen upon our arrival and couldn't believe our luck at being able to stay in such beautiful surroundings!

Our cottage was spotlessly clean, furnished with everything we wanted/needed for a stay in the countryside - a fully outfitted kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, modern bathroom (fluffy towels!!), and laundry. We opened our windows to listen to the river rushing by and spent lots of time in the resort-like pool.

It was very, very hot (like 37C) and there is no air conditioning. We were a bit worried about how we would survive. Rob and Karen appeared with fans and also instructed us to shut the windows and curtains during the day. We were perfectly comfortable and now appreciate the insulating properties of ancient, thick stone walls.

Rob and Karen were always available but never intrusive - perfect hosts. They had recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants that were very helpful.

We cannot wait to return to their lovely property!!

A great holiday break in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in La Forge for a week in June 2017 and had a wonderful time. Rob and Karen were great hosts and everything in La Forge was set out very well. We loved using the big swimming pool later in the day to cool off. We ate out most evening and this just involved a short walk into Les Ezyies which has a great range of shops and restaurants. Overall a great holiday

Dramatic rock faces, sparkling rivers, green valleys, Chateaux, medieval villages, prehistoric caves and brilliant sunlight. The Dordogne, the very heart of the Perigord has been described by some as paradise.

As you pass fields of sunflowers and corn and marvel at castles towering at the top of cliffs or visit the many 'Beau Villages' in the surrounding area you begin to understand why. The area surrounding Le Banquet is dominated by pre-history, beautiful architecture and gastronomy. The perfectly preserved medieval town of Sarlat is just 20 minutes away.

The local markets are full to brimming with some of the best produce France has to offer.

Whether you wish to visit one of the many UNESCO world heritage sites, caves with their drawings dating back 20,000 years, picnic by the banks of the Vezere River, taste the excellent wines from Bergerac and surround or canoe, horse ride and perhaps fish, Le Banquet is at the very heart of it all.

If you are a food lover, then welcome to gastronomic heaven! Foie Gras, cepes, truffles and excellent restaurants - the region has it all.

Other local activities include: canoeing, airparks, quad bike hire, go carting the list is endless.......
