About the property

Very private pool area, all amenities, 5 minutes from the beach

SPECIAL OFFER IN MAY AND JUNE FOR LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS!!

Villa Giorgos is a comfortable, peaceful and private retreat on the forested outskirts of the charming traditional village of Gavalohori. The villa has dramatic views of Souda Bay, Aptera Fort, The Akrotiri Peninsula, acres of olive and cypress trees, and the spectacular White Mountains. All of the bedrooms in the main villas (not the annex studio), and the living areas lead out to balconies and terraces to enjoy these views.

Despite being perfect for larger families and groups, during the low and mid seasons it is still possible for smaller families or couples to rent either one of the villas for a lower price whilst the second villa would remain locked - please contact me for prices.

Hidden away on a hillside at the end of a short private track above a ravine, and surrounded on 3 sides by a forest of tall cypress trees, Villa Giorgos is very secluded and yet only 4 minutes away by car from the pretty coastal village of Almyrida with its sandy beaches and many amenities. The villa is comprised of 2 conjoined villas and is ideal for families or large groups who like to holiday together whilst still having their own space and a little more privacy, whilst the completely self-contained annex studio on the ground floor is perfect for those who are less able to negotiate stairs or who like to come and go via their own entrance without disturbing the other guests.

Both sides of this modern villa are comfortably furnished and well equipped with everything needed for a relaxing vacation including Free WIFI, satellite TV’s, DVD and CD players, ceramic hobs and built in ovens, fridge/freezers microwave ovens, washing machines, barbeques, and air conditioning units in the bedrooms and living rooms. The A/C units also double up as heaters, and there is central heating for the cooler nights early and late season (fuel for the central heating is not included in the rental price), as well as solar powered hot water with a back-up immersion heater. The thoughtful Greek owners, Giorgos and Spiridoula, have supplied large pool/beach towels so that you will not have to take up precious room in your suitcase by bringing these with you. The bathrooms are fully tiled and the master bathroom in Villa 2 includes a large Jacuzzi bath tub and a separate shower cabinet. The villa has many typically Cretan touches such as local cypress wood for the interior staircase, the doors, the tilt and turn windows which provide a constant through breeze, the shutters, and the pergolas on the pool terrace and the outside dining terrace. The bedroom furniture, including the built-in wardrobes and vanity units, and the kitchen cabinets have also been made from this matching warm wood and the villa's bedroom floor tiles also look like a matching wood. Natural local stone has been used in abundance for all of the walls, steps, stone paving, and raised flowerbeds on this lovely terraced property which includes a spacious private parking area with an electric gate.

The newly tiled swimming pool with has a water polo goal and is set on its own terrace set above and behind the villa. Surrounded by a low stone wall and tall trees, including cypress, olive and carob, the pool area is very private and peaceful where the only sounds you are likely to hear are the birds singing or the tinkling of bells from nearby sheep. There are 2 pergolas on different levels near the pool and barbeque that provide shade and are equipped with a dining table and chairs as well as sun-beds, and a swing seat. Bordering the pool terrace and all around the villa itself, there are many raised flowerbeds which are planted with an abundance of shrubs including magnolia trees, roses, margaritas, different coloured daisies, and hydrangea. The living rooms and bedrooms all lead out to balconies and terraces which have a choice of sun or shade and are equipped with tables, a couch, chairs so that you may relax with a meal or a drink whilst taking in the glorious views down the valley to the sea.

Villa Giorgos has a unique countrified location with no immediate neighbours – just 1 semi occupied holiday villa a few hundred metres away on the on the far side of a ravine. It should therefore appeal to the escapists amongst you who value comfort and seclusion, whilst being just minutes from beaches, tavernas and shops.

About Miss Frankie Miles of Villas Crete Holidays

Villa Giorgos is exclusively booked by Frankie Miles. Frankie runs Villas Crete Holidays which is a registered Tourist Office, based in Hampshire, England, and with a resort manager and representative in Almyrida, Crete. Whilst most travel companies cover many different countries and/or areas of Greece and Crete, we at Villas Crete Holidays only work in the North West of Crete and we specialise in the Apokoranas region, just east of the historic Venetian town of Chania. The Apokoronas (including the villages of Almyrida, Kalives, Kokkino Horio, Plaka and Gavalohori) has long been a popular destination for holiday makers seeking a typically Greek seaside resort area that has many amenities, but is far removed from brash tourism. The area is renowned for its sandy beaches, crystal clear turquoise water, stunning views of Souda Bay and The White Mountains, excellent tavernas, and archaeological sites.

Frankie is very hands-on at Villas Crete Holiday. She has worked with rental villas on Crete for more than 20 years and has written the best selling guide book "Crete on the Road". The book includes detailed directions and information to all the major tourist attractions, as well as many hidden sites. Also in the book is the only existing map of the National Highway showing all of the entrances/exits and distances. Frankie’s unrivalled knowledge, love of the island, and attention to detail is now being fully put to use to guarantee a fantastic holiday for our guests.

Why Miss Frankie Miles of Villas Crete Holidays chose Apokoronos

It is rare to find villas with 6 bedrooms.

Despite the complete privacy Villa Giorgos is only 900m from the shops, and tavernas in Gavalohori. You can walk on a quiet country road to have a delicious meal and a drink (or two) without worrying about driving home.

The villa has a fantastic private location in the heart of the countryside but it is only a few minutes drive from the beaches, shops and tavernas in Almyrida and 45 minutes easy drive from Chania airport.

What makes this villa unique

Villas Crete Holidays truly are the Apokoronas Specialists as unlike other offices, 3 of the 4 members of our expert team live and work here all year round which enables us to always have completely up-to-date information about the villas, local facilities, and tourist attractions. We can help you with all aspects of your holiday including good value, reliable car hire, airport transfers, local information about shops, beaches, tavernas etc, detailed driving directions or walking directions for many routes. We can also arrange private boat hire, private boat trips, private sight-seeing flights, horse riding, water-skiing, big game fishing, guided walking, and guided coach excursions. Our office staff speak English, Greek, and a little French, and have a vast list of local contacts, and our representative in resort also speaks some Italian.

Both the company itself, and Frankie's book have been featured and recommended in articles in major British newspapers including the Sunday Mail and the Sunday Telegraph, as well as smaller publications such as Greece Magazine.

Most importantly, because we handle many villas, in the unlikely event that there is an unforeseen problem at your villa, we can usually offer you an alternative villa (although this cannot be guaranteed in high season).

We have many years experience working in tourism on Crete, and most importantly this experience is specifically related to villa rentals, which needs a very different area of expertise to other types of tourism such as walking holidays, or package holidays for the masses. We use all of our knowledge and local contacts to ensure that your holiday goes off smoothly from start to finish, from first booking the villa that is most suitable for you, to your arrival back home. When you are in resort, we are available during office hours for information, and 24 hours a day should you need medical assistance, yet we remain unobtrusive.

Villa Giorgos was a perfect villa for our holiday

  • 5 of 5

This property was a great find! We had privacy but we were also close enough to the village. The owners were more then helpful and the Susanna the agent coundn' t have done enough. The villa was clean and very well kept. The welcome pack was greatly appreciated as we arrived late and hungry! A very enjoyable holiday was had here and we hope to be back!

Gavalohori is a pretty traditional village with 4 tavernas, a bakery, and a well stocked mini market on the main square. The nearby beach at Almyrida is shallow and safe, has watersports, scuba diving, pedalo and pedalo rentals, an area with pool tables and game machines, a children's play/activity centre with baby sitting, and is lined with many shops, cafe/bars, tavernas, and Villas Crete Holidays for tourist information, private boat hire, boat trips, private sightseeing flights in a light aircraft, horse riding, water-skiing, big game fishing charters, and guided walking and coach tours.

A few minutes by car from the villa, there are a variety of archaeological sites and quaint villages, and an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio, and lace makers in Gavalohori. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 30 minutes away by car.

With its stunning Venetian harbour, quayside bars and restaurants, what better place to relax and watch the world go by. In the narrow streets behind the harbour you will find tavernas, bars, the famous covered market, and many local shops selling handicrafts, textiles, jewellery and hand made ceramics
