About John and Lynn Coulson

We are a recently retired couple who live in Angus with our chocolate labrador. We have two married children and two grandchildren.

Why John and Lynn Coulson chose Inveraray

We fell in love with this property immediately because of the area and the spectacular setting of Hazel Cottage. We also thought it would give us an interest in retirement and make a fantastic cosy 'bolt hole' for ourselves and the family as well as a property to rent.

What makes this house unique

Beautiful views of the loch, very peaceful, tranquil setting whilst having a very friendly pub a short walk away and a restaurant a very short drive away. The proximity of the boat yard is a bonus as it the many activities possible from this wonderful location. Recently refurbished Bistro Pub across Loch (35 mins by boat) and a fine dinning restaurant 15 mins by boat across Loch. Boats can be hired by the hour, day or week.

Fabulous weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Myself and my family hired Hazel Cottage as a birthday surprise for my mother’s 80th over Easter weekend. We had a great long weekend away. The cottage had everything we needed will all amenities and is set in a beautiful location just next to Loch awe. The house was a good size and the lovely decked area , sunroom and bbq hut just made it. John and Lynn were very helpful and answered all my questions that i had before arriving. Myself and my family will definitely be booking up hazel cottage again in the near future.

Loved the gorgeous views of Loch Awe and the soothing sound of the stream from the sun room. Perfect

  • 5 of 5

Our group of two couples and one teenager found this to be a very special retreat. Extremely comfortable, well equipped, and spacious. The decks, sunroom, and bbq pit are features that are not often found in a rental home, and it was great to be just up the road from a boat rental place and a pub. What else could you ask for? We also took advantage of the local sightseeing like the Kilchurn Castle, Inveraray, and the Neolithic sites near Kilmartin. Just a wonderful stay! Highly recommended.

Everything was perfect for enjoying the Scottish countryside.

  • 5 of 5

Great views. Walk to the marina for breakfast and to the pub for dinner. You will find what you need when you cook. We were two couples and had plenty.of comfortable space. Cottage is well located for day trips to the islands, Trossachs and down to Tarbert.

Lovely clean fully equipped house, fantastic views

  • 5 of 5

Exactly what we were looking for. Fully equipped clean house, in peace and quiet with excellent views. Tesco delivered, so with 2 fridges we could stock up for the week. Broadband kept the kids happy in the evenings. Used the BBQ hut on 4 evenings, even when it was raining outside. Dalmally golf course was fantastic - quiet, very reasonably priced, could hire clubs and trolleys, friendly people. Hired a boat from the yard (very nice owners) down the drive and spent 2 hours on Loch Awe. Travelled to Oban (45 mins) and Fort William (1 hr plus). The fantastic drive through Glencoe to get to Fort William is a must. Kids climbed Ben Nevis and played in the snow at the top. Would certainly recommend Hazel Cottage to anyone looking to get away from it all. Excellent communication from owners throughout booking process.
