About Janet Cantrell

We are a family of 4 and moved to Montana in August of 2014. We've lived in MI, OH, IN, GA, and FL but Montana holds a special place in our hearts. Just 1 day here and you'll know why. Moving here we wanted decor with a truly Montanan feel but not overdone. As a result we've created a very unique experience designed to be the best overall value in the Flathead Valley. I write for a travel blog, Radiant Wanderings, and work for Glacier International Airport (can you tell I love to travel) and my husband works from home as a backend web developer. Because of this we travel extensively and always choose to stay at vacation rentals whenever possible. We love the personal touches they provide and the insider tips for each location. We look forward to sharing our home with you and the beauty and adventure of Glacier Country.

Why Janet Cantrell chose Montana

With so much to enjoy in so many directions why not choose a base right in the center of it all. This home is 15 minutes from the airport and Whitefish, 25 minutes to Whitefish Mountain skiing and activities, 30 minutes to the adorable Flathead Lake towns of Lakeside and Bigfork, and just 40 minutes to the west entrance of Glacier National Park. Avoid the traffic, jump on the bypass and spend more time enjoying your destination!

What makes this house unique

Glacier and Whitefish Mountain views from the upstairs bedroom and office, front porch rockers, a 7 person hot tub, trampoline, and a fireplace are just a few of the features that you will enjoy after a day hiking, exploring, or hitting the winter slopes. Convenient location.

Fantastic stay in a gorgeous home!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was fantastic! Great home with wonderful Montana decor! There was 6 adults in our party and we came to celebrate my husband's 30th birthday. Communication with Janet was great, place was easy to find. Close to shopping and a short drive to Whitefish. The hot tub and fire pit were a wonderful addition. Had beautiful evenings under the stars soaking away and listening to the crackle of the fire. We loved this property and wouldn't hesitate to book again! 5 stars for sure! :)

Cozy Montana Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Nice, clean and comfortable home in the heart of Kalispell. This was a great home for our family while we were away on vacation, as it was centrally located in Kalispell and just 20 minutes from shopping in downtown Whitefish, near many restaurants, grocery shopping and the outdoor ice arena at Woodland Park. Kitchen and family room were laid out nicely to visit with friends and family after a long day. Nearby park was great for the kids to play in the snow and on the slides. Janet responded promptly and even let us get in early so our kids could take naps as we had a very early morning travel day. I would definitely recommend this home to a friend and plan on staying here when we come back again.

Better than a Bed and Breakfast!

  • 5 of 5

We had a most wonderful time mid October at this cozy, comfortable, warmly decorated home, experiencing peak Autumn color everywhere; even the mountains were peppered with gorgeous yellow trees mixed among the evergreens. It was breathtaking! Our hiking experiences in Glacier included Logan's Pass with a breathtaking view of Hidden Lake below in the valley, Avalanche Lake Trail where we ate our picnic lunch on the rocks beside a beautiful waterfall, John's Lake Loop Trail and Bowman Lake Trail. We browsed unique and quaint shops, including but not limited to, antiques, paintings featuring local artists, and an ice cream shop where we were able to serve ourselves with combinations of ice creams and toppings; what a fun treat! This vrbo home is located very close to the airport, wonderful restaurants, many attractions and stores including Costco. We relaxed by the cozy fireplace and watched our favorite movies, and soaked our tired muscles in the soothing hot tub after long days of hiking. We look forward to going back to this inviting home for another great and fun experience! I would highly recommend this home to a friend. Janet was great to work with; she responded quickly to any questions we had and to our complete satisfaction.

Fall Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a terrific time at this vrbo home and the location! Janet was so easy to work with responsive in a timely manner. The home was cozy, comfortable and very clean. It was tastefully decorated with a woodsy feel. It was close to hiking (10 minutes to hours away) fantastic 5 star restaurants and quaint mom and pop shops. Janet has listings of several places to eat at and hike to. Whitefish and Glacier National Park was easily accessible and we hiked to the summit end of October enjoying snow at the top. The hot tub was a terrific treat at the end of long hiking days and the water was clean. I appreciated a home with washer/dryer amenities as well as fresh towels and sheets. We will be back in the summer to experience the activities at the ski resort and the nearby crystal clear lakes as well as during the winter once I ski a bit better. A terrific home and experience. Thank you for helping our vacation to be comfortable and trouble free!

Comfortable Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

Ideal location for skiing Big Mountain and hiking Glacier. This mountain home was both cozy and inviting. We sat by the fire each morning, enjoying the mountain views and relaxed in the hot tub each evening after a day of hitting the slopes. We appreciated the downstairs master suite and the upstairs bunk beds, double bed, and playroom. Plenty of space with open floor plan and very clean! Only a twenty minute drive to the mountain and to Whitefish and a forty minute drive to Glacier made this an ideal "home base" for our vacation. We will definitely look to stay again when visiting next summer.

In the Summer months you will enjoy endless hiking opportunities at Glacier National Park, fishing, kayaking, most likely some wildlife sightings, drive Going to the Sun Road or bike it in May before it opens to vehicles for the season. Whitefish Mountain has Alpine Slides, Gondola Rides to the top, Zip Lining, Aerial Adventure Park, Mountain Biking, Walk in the Tree Tops and hiking as well as several restaurant options on the mountain in addition to the many options in Whitefish. If it's a nice day I recommend sitting on the top of Casey's and looking out over the city as you enjoy a drink and meal. Don't forget to pick some huckleberries and try a slice of huckleberry pie a'la mode during your stay. For the backpackers who enjoy a bit more solitude, the Bob Marshall Wilderness is breathtaking and just waiting for your footprint. Beach opportunities abound. Try City Beach in Whitefish, Flathead Lake, Tally Lake, Foys Lake, or one of the many others in any direction. Many have kayak and SUP rentals available nearby. We can give better recommendations once we know your preferences. In Winter months Skiers and Snowboarders will enjoy days spent at Whitefish Mountain or Blacktail Ski Resort. Don't forget to try the nachos at Hellroaring Saloon when you need a warm up. You can thank me later, haha. Feeling adventurous? Skip the lift ticket and trek up the mountain on your skis or snow shoes. Or just step out the door and find numerous trails to cross country ski or snowshoe on.
