|Minimum Stay||3 - 4 nights|
Your special getaway will begin as soon as you turn off the beautiful and scenic Highway 89A and cross the rustic little bridge over Oak Creek. Families are often seen relaxing, fishing and enjoying the water when the weather is warm. What can be more restful than a babbling creek!
The first thing you will notice, as you drive through the winding streets and park at the house, is the extreme quiet of the lush green neighborhood and the chorus of the birds.
A bench awaits you on the front porch. This comfortable two-bedroom, two-bath escape has a large, modern kitchen with a dining table for six near the front window, as well as a bar with three stools. Rich dark granite was selected for kitchen and bathroom countertops, and kitchen appliances are stainless steel. Cabinets are hardwood, and the entire home has beautiful wood floors. A washer and dryer are available in a closed area near the kitchen.
The cozy living room has a welcoming fireplace with a granite hearth, which matches the other granite in the home. A large, flat-screen TV, satellite, many DVD movies, and a cabinet full of games provide pleasant indoor entertainment. Furniture includes a sofa (with hide-a-bed) as well as an over-stuffed easy chair and large coffee table. A deck with a BBQ grill and table with four chairs adjoins the living room and extends the entertainment area. Breakfast and coffee will certainly be enjoyed here.
Behind the deck is a short walk through the lush green landscape, passing a large swing suspended from the trees. The trees are a mix of evergreen and deciduous, creating an especially stunning display of color in the fall. A short and easy walk leads to a path going directly down to the creek.

Great location. Beautiful drive into town. Super soft beds. Cottage is much larger than it appears in pictures. Overall very peaceful vacation. Just what we needed. Thank you! K.A.R., Merrimack Valley, Mar ‘15 *****
The cottage was so peaceful. I enjoyed being so close to the creek, having the swing in the back yard, and having all the comforts of home in the cottage. The cottage was beautifully decorated and supplied most everything we needed. The beauty of the surroundings was the icing on the cake! Faye B, Phoenix AZ, Mar ’15 *****
My guests and I appreciated it being located just north of Sedona where we were able to hike and shop during the days and retreat to our cottage in the evenings. Although I arrived with a few guests, I’d feel comfortable and safe enough to stay there alone. I’d recommend this place without reservations. Nell, Houston TX, Mar. ‘15 *****
The fireplace was great for roasting marshmallows and playing card games in front of. Each morning we went for a hike down the creek, and up the hill, and saw the sunrise, which was amazing!! Given what we would have paid for a hotel and eating out in Sedona, this arrangement was MUCH better, since we ate healthy foods for each meal and all hung out together each evening, enjoying games and conversation…we will definitely be staying here again!! Laura W., Tucson AZ, Mar ’15 *****
One night we grilled out and marveled at the stars. The residential area is so quiet, and the cottage so nicely appointed, with roman blinds for privacy. I can’t think of anything I’d change, except wishing I could’ve stayed longer! Laura W., Hartford CT, Feb ’15 *****
Who could ask for more than a warm fireplace on a snowy day? Amy F., Jan ’15 *****
The home was completely redone, everything was very clean and convenient, being right on the creek was perfect, our kiddos loved the swing ;), all the neighbors were friendly and welcoming, the beds were super comfortable, they even had snacks waiting for us in the kitchen. Thank you! Can’t wait to come back! Scott B., Nov ‘14, *****
This had been my first VRBO rental and I was so pleased I could literally live there. Just a short distance from the town of Sedona. I would go back time and time again.
Cheryl, Oct ’14 *****
The creek is only steps away through the backyard, which includes a swing (!) and the neighbors were friendly as well. I appreciated the small touches like including shampoo, body wash, and hairdryers in the bathrooms. I would definitely stay here again! Jess, Scottsdale AZ, Sept ‘14 ****
You’re in easy reach of Oak Creek Canyon hikes and other attractions, and Sedona (the expensive, touristy part) is a 15-minute drive. Cruise on over to Oak Creek Village (south and east of Sedona proper) for a real treat—red rock buttes, canyons and bluffs will blow your mind (invest in a camera b/4 this trip). We made trips to Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon, Williams, Sedona, Cottonwood, Jerome and Prescott from this home base, so it really is conveniently located. Ron K., May ’14 *****
We enjoyed our stay at the Creekside Cottage very much. The place is cozy and clean—just like the pictures we saw on the Homeaway website. The surrounding area is tranquil and beautiful. Jacqui H., Apr ’14 *****
The TV/DVD is easy to use and there is plenty of floor space to stretch or do yoga if desired. The water is amazing – no chlorinated, fluoridated city water – it tastes delicious!! It’s located ½ way between Flagstaff and Sedona, so perfect for either location. Carola, Lake Arrowhead CA, Apr ’14 *****
The house and area were beautiful and the house was very clean with very comfy beds. The open and large layout made the house seem much bigger than it was. The kids loved the swing and the creek and the wood burning fire was awesome (bring s’mores). The variety of complimentary treats were a nice touch. We loved our time there and three days wasn’t nearly enough. If you are looking to unwind, relax, and get out of the rat race concrete jungle there is no better place than this Cottage. The Indian Village in Oak Creek had a great craft beer selection, market, and nice outside seating for lunch. Anonymous. Mar ’14 *****
The cabin was beautiful and just as advertised. It was our first VRBO and it won’t be our last. The men enjoyed making a fire and there was plenty of room to spread out.

Our favorite room was the gorgeous stone fireplace and comfy cozy couch! The chocolates on the pillows added a sweet touch and made the place feel warm and welcoming! This gorgeous cottage is perfect for a small family w children or a romantic getaway for a couple. The snow covered cottage was a nice perk we weren’t expecting!!! Great lil piece of heaven just 2 ½ hours from Phoenix!! We recommend this rental highly!!

The cabin was just as it was pictured on the website – nice kitchen, inviting living space, and cozy bedrooms. Felt like a true home away from home, and we’d love to return! Only issue we had was a total lack of cellphone reception, which I supposed isn’t too surprising given its location in a canyon. Kelly, Phoenix, Nov ‘13 ****
It was very nice and cozy. Well maintained. We would definitely come back and book with them again. Samantha T., Nov ’13, *****
We recommend the property. We also recommend hiking the West Fork, Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, Soldier’s Pass and Doe Mountain. For hikers, I also recommend the HikeHouse in Sedona. We enjoyed lunch at Indian Gardens in Sedona and breakfast at La Bellavia in Flagstaff. Jenn, Oakland County, MI, Oct ’13 *****
The kitchen is equipped as the description states and there are even a few items on the laundry area shelves such as a small crock pot & blender. We used the laundry, very convenient. The washer/dryer are large capacity and laundry soap was provided (nice touch). The bedrooms are roomy and comfortable with plenty of closet space. Bathrooms – body wash and shampoo/conditioner provided (nice touch). Living room is comfy with the fireplace. Windows face the back porch and blanket throws for chilly times are provided. We took many walks in the area and sat on the banks of the creek in the camp chairs we brought, very peaceful and relaxing. The tree swing was a HUGE hit. Used the patio and BBQ each day and it was just right. We all enjoyed seeing rainbow trout in the creek and one granddaughter even fished and caught four. The photos are realistic and a good representation. Sheila V., Phoenix, Oct ’13 *****
This is a clean cottage, nestled in a private community, away from the hustle and bustle of our technology driven life. We very much enjoyed our evenings and mornings at the cabin, exploring Sedona, nearby Cottonwood and Jerome (a must experience town) during the days. There is a great café down the road to Sedona called Indian Gardens (just before mile marker 378). Up the road is also Flagstaff Extreme, a high ropes course that takes 3-4 hours to complete and is less than $50 per person. Plenty to do and enjoy in this area, hiking, Slide Rock Park, Sedona, Flagstaff, or just sitting creekside. Off the Beaten Path, Las Vegas NV, Sept ’13. *****
Go to the trout farm approximately 9 miles south. Catch a few and cook on the grill provided. Wordman, Arizona, Aug ’13 ****
Cabin is even better than pictured. It is clear the owner truly cherishes his property. It was 112 degrees in Phoenix and 75 degrees at the cabin. Drive times are accurate, just 20 minutes south to Sedona and 20 north to Flagstaff. We will be back. Thanks Creekside Cottages for the beautiful weekend! Craig S., Mesa, Aug ’13 *****
I grew up in Northern AZ and always had a passion for the red rocks of Sedona, whether it is playing in "the creek", hiking in the hills, running the trails or mountain biking the slickrock. I still live in Flagstaff, with my wife and 2 children, where I run a business and stay very busy raising a family. However, because of my passion for Sedona, my family calls me a bit obsessed about staying in Oak Creek Canyon and sharing it with others.
Brian Petersen purchased this house in 2015
In the summer of 2014, my wife and I rented a place in uptown Sedona and the dream started at that time to purchase a place in Sedona. My original thoughts were to look in either the Village of Oak Creek (VOC) or in West Sedona, but my wife said "we should look in Oak Creek Canyon to really experience Sedona." We started to look in all 3 areas for a piece of property. Some of the first houses we saw were in The Canyon and, from that time on, we knew that we had to purchase a piece of property on the creek. I knew we were in "trouble" on this house when our realtor sent us the pictures of the house. When we drove up to the cottage the first time, my instincts were correct - this is a gorgeous place. From the towering hills on the east and the west, the cute walkway up to the house, the way the house was remodeled, and then the tropical backyard that leads directly to the creek. Come experience The Canyon!
The drive through Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon must be one of the most scenic roads in AZ. As you approach the turnoff to our cottage, you cross a bridge with Oak Creek running beneath it and then enter the quaint and quiet subdivision. Drive just a bit more and then you are there. Get out of your car and you are greeted with tall canyon walls on your east and your west and start to walk to the house. The house is striking as you walk in the front door with wood floors and granite countertops. Look a bit further and you'll find everything you need to escape from your troubles, but have all the comforts of home. The backyard is very tropical with berry bushes and other green plants that provide you a walkway to your own piece of heaven; the cool running waters of Oak Creek.
I stayed at this property last year and loved it so much we decided to bring in 2017 there. While cell signals still leave a bit to be desired, Brian has done his best to alleviate the issue. You just can't be cuddled in a canyon and expect to have a strong signal. The cabin is perfect and very well appointed. We had everything we needed for a four night stay. Thanks again, Brian, for your hospitality.
We stayed at this cottage over the Christmas holiday. First of all, the cottage is tucked away in a beautiful little area of Oak Creek Canyon, very secluded and peaceful. The cottage itself is charming, clean and has all the amenities you need. We arrived as a big rainstorm moved in and it continuted to rain non-stop for 2 days. Luckily a nice neighbor reminded us early the next morning that we should move our vehicle to the other side as it was flooding. We're so fortunate we did because the creek was well above the bridge for some time and there were a few people who were stranded for a few days. (If it's raining or is in the forecast I highly recommend you keep your vehicle on the other side of the creek. ) The cottage is close enough to Sedona to drive into the town in a half hour but far enough away that you feel like the rest of the world doesn't exist. Indian Gardens Shop and Cafe in the canyon was closed over the holiday but we discovered a small little convenience shop where you can buy supplies, wine, etc just a few miles down the road at the Butterfly Garden Inn. The cottage has a wonderful fireplace with a huge supply of wood just out the door. Just after the rainstorm ended the snow began on Christmas Eve and we had about a foot 24 hours later. It made for a truly magical winter wonderland and a perfect Christmas. We had some wonderful walks around the neighborhood and woods with everything covered in snow. That fireplace came in really handy on Christmas afternoon and night when the power went out from the storm but we stayed toasty warm with a raging fire and lots of layers. It made for quite the adventure. Luckily the power came on the next morning. The cottage reallly has everything you need, a huge fridge, satellite tv, lots of kitchen appliances and very comfy beds with memory foam toppers. My only complaint is that the wi-fi is very slow and sometimes non-existent....after the storm we lost it completely. But given the remote canyon location this is not surprising. At the end of the day this was a minor inconvenience and probably actually good for us to unplug. My only other suggestion is that some of the drawers in the kitchen need a good inside cleaning and I wish there were way more hooks for coats and winter clothing near the front door and maybe some better and more flashlights (we had a great need for them). Other than that I highly recommend the cottage for a wonderful "get away from it all" and into nature experience!
Thank you Brian for an amazing stay in your creekside oasis. The creekside cottage was warm and inviting. We loved the open lay out off the cabin, and felt like we had everything we needed from hair dryers in both bathrooms, to a nice array of snacks provided in a basket in the kitchen, to board games, wifi, and dvds. We made cozy fires at night in the beautiful stone fire place and enjoyed the cool november nights in the canyon. With dog friendly hiking trails nearby, we loved exploring west fork trail, and further into sedona- munds wagon trail. Your cottage was clean, well kept, uncluttered and very nicely decorated!! We are already looking forward to our next visit.
This property is the perfect place for anyone who wants to visit Sedona but be away from the crowds and have the experience of the forest as well as the red rocks. It is very well maintained, well stocked and clean. We were two couples in our 60s and happy to find the twin beds to be very comfortable, so we all slept well. The living areas were pleasant and the TV was perfect for some necessary football viewing.
The drive into Sedona is about 20 minutes, a little less to Flagstaff.
The cabin was so nice. Could not have asked for a more relaxing place to stay. Had more amenities than any other house we have rented. The snacks were really appreciated. I would recommend this house to others.
This was my first VRBO rental. For once, the pictures are very accurate. What you see is what you get -- unlike most hotels and resorts that are so misleading! The owners were very responsive and answered any questions I had. The home is completely renovated and has very nice finishes. It was very clean and well stocked with anything you may need for your stay. You can't go wrong picking this rental in Sedona!
