What a wonderful getaway. My wife and I had a great time. The owner Charlie could not have been nicer. The home was cozy and secluded and lacked nothing. What beautiful country. We will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful stay in this beautifully restored farmhouse. Light, bright, super clean, and oh so quiet. With 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths, it was perfect for 2 couples. It would also be great for a girls' getaway or a family trip. Charlie provided everything we could have needed, including lots of brochures on local wineries and restaurants. So very nice!
My husband and I enjoyed our time at the house. We visited for the Hermann Oktoberfest festivities and we are very happy that we did. We would love to stay here again. Thanks again.
My two friends and I chose to stay in this cottage to celebrate a girls weekend and a 40th birthday. This was the perfect little cottage. The house was clean and tidy and everything was available for us if we needed it. The owner was so friendly and was there to answer any questions we may have had. He even left us some sweet rolls for breakfast. No detail was spared. We plan on coming back to visit this little cottage again to celebrate another 40th birthday!
My wife and I stayed for our anniversary. Charlie was a wonderful host. Ask him about his wine. The cottage was very nice with everything you need. Very secluded. But also close to the wineries and to Herrman. When we go back I hope it is available to rent again.
First, if you want something close to Hermann and the wine trail this is not for you. But if you love to drive winding highways of Missouri then this is the best it gets. This house if 18 miles south of Hermann, MO on highway 19 and 8 miles north Owensville, MO. The property is immaculate as far as farm/rural settings go. The property is totally hidden from the highway so you hear the traffic go by but you don't see them and they don't see you. The house is a an old farm house that burned down and was rebuilt around the main fireplace of the old house. The fireplace is unusable but that is a great idea considering most people don't know how to use a fireplace and best for safety. It is one floor with a loft. The loft consists of a bedroom, bath and sitting area. The only problem we found (there were 4 of us) is that the upper bath does not have a shower just a whirlpool tub. So that was a little troublesome, due to most people use a shower. Aside from that it is a perfect place for 2 or 4.
For the price there is no place that is as nice or stocked like it is. The owner's literally did not forget anything, they fully stock the kitchen from any utensil needed to most basic food items you would want. Then there are the towels, better than any hotel or B&B out there. There is a fire pit outside and small gas grill for grilling the brats you buy in Hermann. There is satellite TV, dvd player, wifi, and stereo. The owner's have put a lot of thought and care into the building of the house and the large and small touches that have gone into the preparing for guests.
This is one of those places that is a wonderful surprise for people on vacation. If you had your own vacation home you could only hope to keep it up like they do this place. When we go back to Herman there will be no need to search fo a place to stay this is it every time.
It does not get any better than this.............................
Watch glassblowers at work in New Haven, enjoy treats at the Swiss Meat and Sausage Company or visit a nearby Alpaca farm.
Property not suitable for pets or children. This is a working farm, so there may be occasional activity in the vineyard or fields.
