About owner/property manager

Our downtown building is on the National Registry of Historical Places. We completely renovated it to a coffee café on the first floor and an overnight loft on the second. Our café offers the BEST coffee in town with breakfast and lunch and lots of healthy choice menu items. Glasgow is located in Barren County halfway between Louisville and Nashville and voted the Best Place to Live in Rural America! Hope you will stay with us!

Our building is located on the beautiful downtown square and listed on the National Registry of Historical Places. We take great pride in the renovation that we touched from roof to basement. The exterior wall is the oldest standing brick wall in Barren County. Barren County is listed as the Best Place to live in Rural America! During the summer we have a very festive Farmers Market every Saturday morning. Join us!

Great stay in a small town near Mammoth Cave

We loved it! We chose this VRBO because it was in the downtown area of a city, but was close enough to Mammoth Cave to visit. The rental is really neat by being above a little coffee shop and having modern furniture. We recommend anyone looking to stay in Glasgow or near Mammoth cave to stay here!

Not meant for more then 2 people

My boyfriend and I stayed at the artist pad loft with another couple during a weekend trip to Mammoth Cave. Although many of the past reviews mentioned other guests also staying at the loft for Mammoth Cave trips the owner seemed surprised by the fact that we were headed to the park early (8 AM) and made a fuss about serving us breakfast since the cook doesn't come into the coffee shop below the loft until 8 AM. We had a full day tour booked that started at 9 AM and the drive to the park was 35 minutes so we couldn't leave any later than 8:15 and I was originally looking forward to the breakfast that was included with our stay. We were only served a smoothie and a muffin since the kitchen wasn't open yet which is not an ideal way to start off a full day of hiking.

I had also read in other reviews complaints about their being a traffic light outside the loft windows that prevented other guests from sleeping. After visiting I now fully understand the issue. The common room of the loft (where the two roll away beds can be used for two additional sleeping places) had about 5 windows without any curtains or shutters. In my opinion a room without any window coverings shouldn't be marketed as a bedroom option and it was very bright in the room even at night.

Between the issues with being served breakfast and the second sleeping arrangements issue I was really disappointed with our stay. I think the loft could be a wonderful option if the owners make a few improvements and are willing to serve their guests a real breakfast before the morning tours of the park start.

Owner's Response: Hi Alex, I'm really sorry about the breakfast. We were involved in a motorcycle accident and could not get anyone in earlier to serve breakfast. We are adding blinds to the front windows so our guests can feel more comfortable in the living space. A true Kentucky gem!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Artist's Pad. The apartment has a modern-yet-historic feel, and it was a great "home base" as we spent our long weekend exploring Mammoth Caves (30 minute, easy drive) and the Nashville area (1.5 hour drive). The mini fridge/freezer was perfect for our needs, as we packed lunches during our excursion days. The owners also had pre-ground coffee, mugs, cups, and disposable plates/napkins/forks for us to use, which we greatly appreciated. The entire apartment was also very clean.

The apartment is situated downtown, and has a window air conditioning unit in the bedroom as well as a/c in the main living area. We were there in early August, on some none-too-cool days, and even my husband (the human space heater) remarked on the comfortable temperature of the apartment. The downtown location was nice, within walking distance of several restaurants. The town was fairly small and felt very safe. The local sheriff's department was nearby, so we did hear occasional police cars -- but I think you hear that in any downtown. It did not cause any sleeplessness or disturbance to us, in the least.

The included breakfast at the restaurant downstairs went above and beyond my expectations. The staff were incredibly kind, and we were given our pick of the menu every day the restaurant was open. (This included lattes -- a huge plus!!) On the day the restaurant wasn't open to the public, the owner personally made us a hearty breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, and orange juice. We never went away hungry!

I am so glad we stayed at the Artist's Pad, and highly recommend it to anyone looking to visit the Mammoth Cave area.

Wonderful people, place, food...definite place to stay!!!

What a wonderful place to stay! Sandy & Peggy were so professional, the part mentioned was beautiful & comfortable, and the food/coffee @the Fine Arts Bistro below the apartment was PHENOMENONAL! All the staff were so homey & sweet. It was just overall a great experience, we will DEFINITELY stay w/them again if/when we're down that was again!

Very clean, friendly and fun.

We absolutely loved staying in the loft. It was very clean and the decor is very chic. The staff in the coffee shop are great and make a wonderful breakfast as well as very good espresso and other coffee choices. This location is very convenient to Mammoth Cave National Park. We stayed here for two nights and hated to leave.

Nice place

pros:

- restaurant downstairs and breakfast included for two guests

- coffee available in the apartment

- free street/lot parking

- big bedroom for two adults, two stowaway beds big enough for adults, a couch and love seat

- large living space for lounging around

cons/room for improvement:

- facilities are not adequate for cooking meals (no stove/oven)

- please stock with glasses, plates, utensils (even without cooking facilities, we could still microwave, but didn't have anything to eat on)

We enjoyed our stay, but it wouldn't make sense for us to come back for an extended amount of time if we couldn't utilize the kitchen. Otherwise this was a great property for a short stay. Thank you for your place!
