About Mr Chris Weaver

We reside on the premises at Sticklinch Farm and have lived in Somerset for over 11 years. Our married daughter, Anna, lives nearby in Wells with our four grandchildren. We have two married sons - Andrew, a qualified GP and Robert, also training as a GP. Chris and Jan have both recently retired.

We enjoy the relaxed lifestyle in Somerset and have developed the 4 acre plot to accommodate our growing number of small farm animals. Our paddock extends at the rear up towards West Pennard Hill. Our flock of sheep are very friendly and will allow you to tickle their chins with a little help from some sheep nuts! We have Hampshire Downs sheep which this year produced 14 lambs between them! Also around the small holding are three pigmy goats which may produce sweet kids during the yea. We have a variety of hens and ducks producing fresh eggs. You could also try goose eggs from our Pilgrim geese. We own two friendly Border Collies called Lulu and Peter and some gorgeous looking cats.

We are very happy to show you around the small holding and chat about the good life!

Mr Chris Weaver purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Mr Chris Weaver chose Mendip (Glastonbury)

Having lived previously near London, we often talked about escaping to the country and in 2005 , we did it! Somerset is so laid back and friendly but we can still catch a train and get to London to enjoy concerts. Bristol and Bath are also cultural centers nearby.

What makes this cottage unique

Where else can you sit out in a hot tub under a clear sky and gaze at the stars without any light pollution !

perfect place to spend easter

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place we will definitely go back. The accommodation was perfect for our family of five (kids 9, 7 and 2) but it was the farm and all the animals that just made it so enjoyable and memorable. Newly born lambs and chicks, finding chicken and duck eggs, playing ball with Peter the dog the list is endless. To top it off we ended the days in the hot tub. The property is so well situated to visit cheddar gorge, wookey hole, wells, Glastonbury plus other places. Chris and Jan are fantastic and made our stay so much more memorable with all the extra little bits esp the Easter basket with the baby chicks in. Thank you so So much hope to see you both, peter, Lulu, flora and all the other animals again soon.

Wonderful farm getaway, amazing views, fun for all the family

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic weekend at sticklinch, Chris and Jan were very generous in letting the children feed the animals, collecting the eggs etc. The accommodation was as described, comfy and cosy. Perfect for a chilled weekend away with lots of great places to visit nearby if you can tear yourself away.

Lovely stay with welcoming hosts

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a few nights with our three kids (ages 14, 10, and 8) and had a wonderful time. Traveling from the United States, this was our first experience staying anywhere in England and it was an ideal perfect image of staying in the English countryside. Chris invited us to help feed the animals in the morning and our kids enjoyed seeing the goats, ducks, sheep, chickens, geese, hens, and the big bunny. The two dogs were a lot of fun, but Peter was especially a hit with our two youngest. We also had some delicious fresh eggs to eat as well. The view was spectacular but unfortunately we could not partake in any close hikes due to our busy touring schedule. We wished we had budgeted a few more nights in this area.

As for accommodations, it was perfect for our family of five. Anything you needed was provided. The beds were comfy, the kitchen was stocked with the basic amenities, and everything was clean and tidy. There was also plenty of room for our family of five to move around. Chris and Jan were very hospitable and made our stay very memorable. We hope some time if we ever make our way back to England to stay here again.

comfortable, well equipped, good for children, rural

  • 4 of 5

Chris and Jan were welcoming and friendly and provided a travel cot for our baby and stairgate and bed guard for our toddler, all of which were very helpful. Our two year old loved meeting the animals on the farm and it was great to eat eggs from the chickens and goose there and show her where they came from. The cottage was comfortable, bright and airy and included everything we needed, although the internet was slow. My husband and I particularly enjoyed relaxing in the open air hot tub under the stars after putting our children to bed. We would recommend this cottage to anyone wishing for a rural retreat, especially those with young children.

Owner's Response: We are glad you enjoyed your stay and you were able to sample the small holding produce. The internet in rural Somerset does have its slow moments and we await the governments pledge to give us all high speed internet! Chris
