Cottage was very clean and cozy. The gardens were beautiful. Location was absolutely tops as was the customer service from Mr. Turan Ali. A wonderful experience and highly recommended.
The cottage was very warm on arrival and the wine, milk and biscuits much appreciated, as were supplies of tea, coffee etc and film/foil. We had a wonderful stay and found it a good base from which to explore, even driving as far as John O'Groats and Skye; such stunning scenery that the drive seemed no effort at all. Cairngorm was another favourite and a boat trip from Fort William when the weather was better in the West than the East. We didn't explore Inverness except to drive through for supermarkets and collect our son from the train station, but it appears to have everything you need - we didn't manage to make it in 25 minutes, even driving at speed like the locals, but it's a lovely scenic drive and you can keep your eyes peeled for deer en route.
We had amazingly sunny weather all week so perfect weather for climbing The Ben. It also meant we were not troubled by midges, and were thrilled to see so many types of birds on the table outside the kitchen window (robin, chaffinch, great tit, blue tit, coal tit, greenfinch, swallow). Well worth investing in some seed to encourage them. We also saw lots of deer, red squirrel, Highland cattle, hares, kites and a unicorn! Keep your eyes peeled in Inverness for that one. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to use (a pair of scissors and food tongs would be useful, and we bought dishcloths and scourers and left the remainder for the next guests to use).
Turan was very easy and friendly to deal with during the booking process and leading up to our arrival.
We stayed for four nights 2 adults,2 kids (5 and 9) and 1 dog wished we'd booked longer. Very relaxing and the view are amazing. The house has everything your need and there is plenty of room inside and out. You must go up to the peaks of Nevis and ride the Gondola up the mountain (dogs are welcome) we were lucky to see the last of the snow. We found that we couldn't leave the dog in the garden at this property as he would have jumped the fence (huskey). We were lucky with the weather so spend a lot of time out walking and looking for Nessy. Looking forward to our next break and will definitely be booking this cottage again.
We were welcomed to a warm, extremely clean and highly comfortable home to spend a week exploring the Highlands. 'Woodside' is a super-well equipped cottage with a welcome pack to get you started (thank you so much) in a charming location with many walks in the area. A quiet retreat where we recharged the batteries but also took our 9 months old puppy for many adventures in the local lochs and forests. A perfect base for exploring the Great Glen area and further afield.
Just had a lovely weekend stay here. Perfect cottage. Thank you so much for the lovely surprise of wine and shortbread also for all the household essentials supplied ie tea coffee sugar milk and all the little things you normally have to buy when self catering like Foil, cling wrap, bin bags, hand wash, kitchen roll, toilet paper etc. this was all greatly appreciated. The cottage is excellent value for money. There was a fantastic selection of books and games although weather was so good this weekend we never got to use them much. Perfect driving distance for all the major tourist attractions as well. Apologies about the dog's nose marks I left on the stair window it's the only thing I forgot to clean when leaving. I'll remember the next time as we will definitely be back.😊 Only regret was we had to come home.
Thank you Iain and Turin
We just had a long weekend in this fabulous cottage and wished we had booked for the whole week. It is cosy, wonderfully maintained and the log fire is a delight. We haven't slept so well for years - peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings - we will have to come again. Thanks !
Woodside is in the village of Errogie in the unspoilt, sparsely populated South Loch Ness area with many woodland, mountain and loch side walks starting from the front door. Within a few minutes of Woodside there are many other lochs, mountains and forests to explore. The wildlife will also amaze you with much to be spotted in the woodland from the windows or decking at Woodside inclduing dozens of bird species, regular sightings of red and sika deer, pine martens, pheasants, osprey, woodpeckers, red squirrels, bats and at night you are guaranteed to hear the occasional owl. Golden eagles have also been seen and the nearby Loch Ruthven is an impressive bird reserve. Dolphin watching is guaranteed from Chanonry Point on the Black Isle, a 40 minute drive away.
