About Emily and Stephen Cahnmann

Based in NYC the Cahnmann's wanted to have a rural escape that was not too far from the City. This property is 100 miles door to door for them and they frequent it often and also their log cabin up the road.

Emily and Stephen Cahnmann purchased this house in 2015

Why Emily and Stephen Cahnmann chose Pennsylvania

We love this area because of the access to the Delaware River and he lovely mountain views. It's extremely private on the mountainside (you may not see more than one car pass by a day along the gravel road). It's located very close to NYC and also other ski resorts, golf resorts, concert halls, restaurants etc... Just listen to the sound of the birds............beautiful!! You might even see an American Bald Eagle!!

What makes this house unique

Private, NEW, modern, artwork, internet TV, Sonos sound system, Roku internet TV, gas grill, extra big deck, sleeps 8+, over-sized main floor deck and an additional roof deck with great views, close to Delaware River.

Wondeful Stay

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful property! It was a larger group and two of us had to sleep in the loft area by the rooptop access, that was a bit uncomfortable if you had to use the bathroom at night and climb down the steep ladder. Regardless, we made it work and we all fit overall comfortably. The yard and property are beautiful, and the deck was the best part. Would recommend!

Couldn't have asked for more!

  • 5 of 5

We had an incredibly relaxing time with our kids for the week swimming in the river, a lake, s'mores at the campfire each night and laying on the roof deck at night checking out the stars (there's a ridiculous amount!). Being able to grill a healthy dinner each evening and eating out on the deck was a blessing for us. The kids loved romping in the forest and seeing many animals (chipmunks, water snakes, squirrels and fish). Just wish we'd have seen a black bear. (They are peaceful to watch, not pet!). This is an awesome place to stay for those looking for peace and quiet and love being in nature. It was great having a quality sound system while hanging out, it made for great background tunes. The location was beautiful and couldn't have asked for a more relaxing time!

Beautiful house

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing stay, we didn't want to leave. The house is beautiful both inside and out. The owners were very attentive and available. We could tell they really care about their house and renters. We really loved the decks and open floor plan. Everything is new and top notch. We lost power while we are there and the generator kicked on right away and kicked off when the power came back on. Very convenient. I really can't say anything bad about this property. We will be back for sure!

Best Property in Barryville!

  • 5 of 5

My first impression of the home before I arrived was that this is a great property. When I arrived, I was wrong about it being a great property, it is an absolutely AMAZING property!! Everything about this property is awesome, Emily and Stephen literally thought of every aspect of a vacation home when designing this property. From the indoor & outdoor home theater system, wrap around deck AND rooftop deck (total game-changer), to the top of the line kitchen/grill appliances, you do not have to worry about a thing besides bringing your own cloths and food. It was also immaculate in terms of cleanliness and organization.

When reminiscing about the trip, our favorite part of the property--which I believe truly separates this property from every other property-- is definitely the rooftop deck. Being able to sit in zero gravity chairs (another great touch Emily and Stephen provides) while starring at the stars at night was truly a breathtaking experience. The surrounding land also provided a mini adventure, we explored the woodlands and viewed some awesome wildlife.

In addition to the great amenities the property has, it also helped that it was centrally located in relation to all the activities the area provides. It was a very short drive (approx. 10 minutes) to the nearest rafting vendor and grocery store.

Overall, we had a phenomenal experience and I could not recommend this property any more! If you are looking for anywhere to stay in Barryville, this is the place to stay! Emily and Stephen are great owners and they will truly make your experience one to remember!

Thank you so much Emily and Stephen! You made our weekend!

Amazing trip to Barryville

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I spent 4th of July weekend at Emily and Steve's amazing home near Barryville. We could not have asked for more. The house was lovely, the property beautiful, and the town adorable! We went rafting, grilled on the deck, lit a fire in the firepit, and cooked every morning for breakfast.

One thing to keep in mind is if you're going with a big group, most of the sleeping quarters aren't private. There's one bedroom with a door, and the downstairs area with futons also has a door, but the two lofted sleeping areas are either in the master bedroom or above the living room. It wasn't an issue for us, but if you're traveling as a crew, it's something to keep in mind.

THANK YOU to Emily and Steve for letting us share your lovely home! Can't wait to be back :)

Owner's Response: Thank you Sonya - you and your friends were wonderful guests! Yes, about the sleeping, it is not a place for complete privacy but a great way to spend time with friends and family. The futons pull out to a full twin bed, they can also be pushed together for a king bed. Thank you again! Please come back to visit!!

Beautiful, Spacious, Mountain Home

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I stayed at this lovely home for a rafting weekend. What a great place! The house is clean, bright, and welcoming. From the ground-level fire pit to the main level wrap-around deck, to the 3rd-story rooftop deck, the outdoor spaces are excellent. The inside is comfortable and spacious with a wood-inspired open floor plan featuring a master bedroom loft overlooking the living room and kitchen. Sleeping space and seating space are ample. The wood floors shine, and the granite counters sparkle.

On top of the facility, you won't find more gracious hosts. They will make you feel at home and give you great tips for enjoying the area.

You will love this house, as we did.
