What makes this cottage unique

There is a large private garden which now has a garden room and deck.

Perfect for Barbeques or when the weather is not so hot just sitting in the garden room and enjoying the peace and quiet. Reading or watching the birds. You might see a kingfisher flying up the river.

As a party of 4 adults me and my wife Amanda and my mum and dad Cath and Henry came here to celebrate my parents wedding anniversary my parents were greeted with a lovely message and a bottle of champagne on arrival The cottage was beautiful very peaceful and relaxing it has everything you need and there is a shop and a pub about 200 Mts away Ayr is not too far either if you want to do some shopping also the garden area and the outhouse is very nice with a bbq and outside decking area right next to the river which is an ideal fishing spot the cottage was immaculately clean inside and out and the wood burner was great at night when it got a wee touch cold five stars from me my wife Amanda and my mum and dad Cath and Henry . We spoke to the owner before we got there and she was very pleasant and helpful and assisted us were to go and so on we will definitely be visiting again in the near future thanks again Nancy from the cartwright family

Hidden Gem in Straiton

  • 5 of 5

An amazing cottage where nothing has been spared on furnishings, accessories and decor. We have stopped in several cottages in the UK and this is by far the best. There are two large bedrooms both with huge comfy beds and beautiful matching furniture. The garden cottage and gardens down to the river were also an added bonus and such a shame we couldn't get more use out of it as the weather wasn't kind to us during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners Nancy and Campbell and they were extremely helpful. I would not hesitate to book again or recommend this amazing cottage to friends.

We had an absolutely brilliant time staying at Old Toll Cottage. it was everything and so much more. So much attention to detail by the owners.

There is only one thing I can say about this cottage and the beautiful garden summer house over looking the fields and river. MAGIC.

Charming, homely, well maintained.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was exactly as it was described to us. As soon as we entered the cottage it had a lovely homely feel. Very clean, well equiped, well maintained with lovely decor and soft furnishings. The beds were huge and very comfortable. The summerhouse was an added bonus, again well maintained and furnished. The location was excellent for us as it was a great base to explore the local and wider areas.(I can recommend Loch Lomond). The 'boys' found an ideal fishing lake not too far away and us 'girls' had a nice walk around the perimeter of the village. I would definitely recommend this little gem of a place and we hope to visit again in the not too distant future. An added bonus was the great weather.

Have a great time visiting plenty of nearby attractions in Burns country and of course the many Golf courses in the vicinity.

Of course there are many wonderful walks to take from the cottage door.
