Lovely top quality cottage with large private garden which runs down to the river Girvan and looks up the valley to the hills.

This is a great area to visit and the cottage is truly delightful.

On the edge of the Galloway Forest the cottage is very well situated for great walks and has many Golf Courses with in easy reach including Turnberry and Troon.

Surprisingly bright the cottage has two double bedrooms one with a 5ft King bed the other with a 6'6 Superking. What makes this cottage unique

There is a large private garden which now has a garden room and deck.

Perfect for Barbeques or when the weather is not so hot just sitting in the garden room and enjoying the peace and quiet. Reading or watching the birds. You might see a kingfisher flying up the river.

Hidden Gem in Straiton

  • 5 of 5

An amazing cottage where nothing has been spared on furnishings, accessories and decor. We have stopped in several cottages in the UK and this is by far the best. There are two large bedrooms both with huge comfy beds and beautiful matching furniture. The garden cottage and gardens down to the river were also an added bonus and such a shame we couldn't get more use out of it as the weather wasn't kind to us during our stay. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners Nancy and Campbell and they were extremely helpful. I would not hesitate to book again or recommend this amazing cottage to friends.

We had an absolutely brilliant time staying at Old Toll Cottage. it was everything and so much more. So much attention to detail by the owners.

There is only one thing I can say about this cottage and the beautiful garden summer house over looking the fields and river. MAGIC.

Charming, homely, well maintained.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was exactly as it was described to us. As soon as we entered the cottage it had a lovely homely feel. Very clean, well equiped, well maintained with lovely decor and soft furnishings. The beds were huge and very comfortable. The summerhouse was an added bonus, again well maintained and furnished. The location was excellent for us as it was a great base to explore the local and wider areas.(I can recommend Loch Lomond). The 'boys' found an ideal fishing lake not too far away and us 'girls' had a nice walk around the perimeter of the village. I would definitely recommend this little gem of a place and we hope to visit again in the not too distant future. An added bonus was the great weather.

A gorgeous tranquil haven in South Ayrshire

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing week we had! ( I have lready written a review but was unsure if your website was down).

Everything about the cottage was perfect. It could not have been more comfortable, warm, well designed and generally lovely to live in.

The "Hidden Garden" and Summer House by the river were a tranquil sanctuary and so unexpected!

We loved the village with its friendly shop and went down every morning for our paper and other shopping.

We had two superb visits to the Kirkmichael Arms for dinner and enjoyed their community run shop and charming café too.

We did all the Burns attractions and also visited Girvan and charming Dunure.

So much o see and do in South Ayrshire! It really is a hidden gem. Most tourists head north and west when they come to Scotland. We were so lucky that we chose to head south and had such a wonderful week in Old Toll Cottage and in Souh Ayrshire.

Have a great time visiting plenty of nearby attractions in Burns country and of course the many Golf courses in the vicinity.

Of course there are many wonderful walks to take from the cottage door.
