About Michael Miller

A native North Carolinian, I have owned this cabin for 25 years, and it has always been a peaceful retreat from the heat and push of the city. Semi retired now - landscaping - beach walking - mountain hiking are favorite things to do these days along with occasional 5k race

Michael Miller purchased this cabin in 1989

Why Michael Miller chose Blue Ridge Highlands

Rustic but cool mountain cabin built 1970

Cool breezes, nice views with private location

Plenty of wildlife and long walks in the area

Cabin probably best suited for those who love rustic charms and are comfortable with the great outdoors

What makes this cabin unique

very private with cool temperatures during hot days of summer

the views from property are from around 4K feet. pretty nice!

Lovely, secluded, mountain top cabin with spectacular view.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Cabin was clean and neat. The directions were easy to follow. The quiet and solitude was a welcome change from our busy lives. The best part was sitting on the deck in the evenings and watching the local deer graze in rear of cabin and the star show at night could not have been better. We can hardly wait to come back and do it again. Spent time in Galax riding our mountain bikes on the New River Trail and dining in local restaurants. The antique shops were very nice too. I am torn between recommending the property and saving it just for me to visit. It is a nice place to stay. You will not be disappointed.

CABIN FOR A WEEK OR WEEKEND OF RECREATON AND RELAXATION

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful cabin. Great location near the recreation and scenic areas of the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, Grayson Highlands, Galax, the New River and the Virginia Creeper Trail. Total quiet and serenity with great views from a mountain ridge location--even with close-by hiking. Affords a great get a way for a romantic weekend, a family vacation or just a relaxing spot for a busy couple. We have stayed twice. The highlight of our first trip was finding a local honky tonk which had live bluegrass music and dancing. On the second trip, we enjoyed July 4th festivities in the nearby, small town of Independence. We will definitely stay again, and have wholeheartedly been recommended it to friends. Perfect for any season.

Very, very, quaint.

I've stayed at this cabin several times. It has a peaceful atmosphere and is set on a ridge with a breathtaking view. Once we slept outside on the back deck so we could see the stars. It is so dark there were million of them. A member of our group heard a stag snorting just before daybreak. The fireplace is huge and fills the cabin with warmth and light in the winter. My goal is to stay here in Autumn. The leaves would be stunning and we might be able to visit an apple orchard. Very comfortable!
