About Lorne Sheren

This house was the primary residence of my mom and dad, both of whom have passed on. The house was custom built by them as their retirement home. Dad retired from the New York City police department in 1974 and served as town magistrate for 24 years. Mom was a phys ed teacher in New York City prior to her retirement. Both mom and dad were ADK 46r's (having climbed all 46 Adirondack peaks over 4000' tall). Our nickname for Dad was "Owl" because he was always wise. When he dies we named the house Owl Perch Camp in his honor.

Lorne Sheren purchased this house in 1975

Owl's Perch is lovely!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first vacation in the Adirondack mountains and we loved it! For us it was a quiet retreat from our typical busy life. The lake was beautiful and having a sandy bottom shoreline made it even better. We've spent a lot of time at the ocean over the years and for a first-time lake experience we couldn't have asked for better.

The kids loved being on the water in kayaks...so did their parents! We also enjoyed watching the loons dive for fish up close on the water and listening to them from the shore. Sitting on the boathouse every morning, rain or shine, was a wonderful way to start the day. It really is a gem!

Owl's Perch is a lovely, well cared for home that is cozy and welcoming. It has everything you could need. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit at night and sitting on the deck while it rained. Our daughter loved the corner window seat and spent most of her time while indoors perched on it with a blanket and her computer or book. We hope to have an opportunity to visit again!

Perfect Cottage on the Lake

  • 5 of 5

Our long weekend on the lake was a blast. The house exceeded all expectations. Super clean, very comfortable, well stocked and plenty of room for our group of 7. We enjoyed using the kayak, fishing off the dock, barbecuing on the patio and roasting s'mores over the fire pit. The location right on the lake is perfect. Owner was incredibly responsive and helpful with the booking process and all subsequent inquiries. 6 stars if I could give an extra.

Rustic, warmth at Owl Perch with a view that can"t be beat!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I choose Owl's Perch for our 30th anniversary retreat and we couldn't have been more pleased. The pictures of the house and surrounding property are very accurate. The house had a warm, rustic Adirondack feel and look. If you like to cook, like I do, the kitchen is very well equipped and nicely maintained.

I especially enjoyed the view from the deck of the boathouse when I had my morning coffee,so beautiful and peaceful.

I would love to rent it again in the for a family reunion. It could easily fit 8-10 people with no problem and I"m sure all would love the experience.

The owner of the property was very helpful and provided a lot of info about the area, restaurants ,etc. Also gave his and his wife's phone number ,if we had any questions or problems.

I would highly recommend Owl's Perch to my family or friends.
