Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday home in Fanning Springs - Suwannee River Retreat

Beautiful, Newly Remodeled 3 Bd, 2 BA Home Located On The Historic Suwannee

Beautiful, newly remodeled 3 bedroom, 2 bath home located on the historic Suwannee River. Get away from it all. Easy access to Fanning Springs (1.5 miles up river) and Manatee Springs (7 miles down river). Bring a boat, or two 2-person kayaks available for use. Great views from the deck and dock that overhangs the river. Very peaceful.

Most people that know the Suwannee River feel that the home's location is fantastic, and the best of all the options. The river in this area is very large and grand, especially compared to up river where it can be quite narrow and crowded. It's size makes it great for skiing, tubing, and boating, and dealing with other boaters isn't really an issue. It is far enough up river (about 32 miles by boat) that you don't have the biting yellow flies of the coast, but close enough to boat down to the coast and back for fishing, or spending the day on your own private secluded island beach. The area has very little development as well, so you get the real sense of being in "old world" Florida. It truly is a unique, wonderful experience.

Please note: cell service may be limited. Unit does not currently have WIFI or cable TV. This property is quite rustic and remote, and is a great way to get away from it all. However, there is limited access to cellular phone service. Please understand the nature of your get away before booking.

Master bedroom with king bed, guest bedroom with king bed, and kids room with two bunk beds each with trundles. Easily sleeps 10.

One of the more common questions we get is regarding docking a boat at the property. You have a few options with regards to keeping a boat on the Suwannee River (flow of the river and boat wakes are a problem). Approximately 1/2 mile down the road from our rental house is a public boat ramp which is not very busy, and easy to launch/retrieve your boat. That is the preferred method and would take less than 30 mins.

Leaving the boat in the water with the current and other boaters creating wakes is possible, but not optimal. One option would be to tie the boat to the dock which is cantilevered over the river and anchor the aft section in the river (might require swimming to shore unless you are creative). The other would be to tie-off to our floating dock on the adjacent property, but you would need several good boat-bumpers. Again, the current and boat wakes put your boat at risk unless you are careful, and we are not responsible for boat damage or lost boats. There is room to keep a boat, trailer and vehicle at the property.

About Cheryl Tyrone

Our family has owned a home on the Suwannee River for 10 years now. We enjoy spending time on the water and relaxing with our friends during the summer months and hosting football and holiday parties during the fall/winter months. We have two children who have grown up bringing friends out the river for birthday parties and just to spend a fun weekend. Our Australian Shepherd loves running the property and hopping on a jet ski or the boat with us. We currently live and work in Gainesville and escape to the river for down time.

Awesome place to getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the house for a weekend getaway for my brother and his friends. The house was perfectly furnished and kept really clean. Plenty of room for everyone and a huge yard to park our trucks and boats. We will definitely be coming back for another stay.

Fun quiet family get away

  • 5 of 5

The pictures don't do this property justice. Beautifully updated large kitchen. Large yard with fire pit and amazing views from the dock. We are a family of four with a 2.5 yo and 7 mos old. The house was clean and spacious. My toddler asks us everyday if we can go back! The house was very clean and there was a closet full of cleaning supplies, etc. This was nice as we've rented many times before and often there is only the bare minimum if that. We visited fanning springs and manatee Springs which were just a few miles up the road. The property is great for families or just a quiet romantic get away. We will definitely be staying here again as soon as possible!

Paradise on the Suwannee!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week at this gorgeous house on the Suwannee and enjoyed every minute of it! The house was roomy, updated, beautifully furnished and immaculate! The pictures don't really capture just how wonderful it is! We had every thing we needed in the kitchen to cook for the family and plenty of linens and towels. They really have thought of everything! The previous guests reported low water pressure so the owners had a repair man out the day we arrived to check on the issue. They also check with us to make sure all was well. This made us feel welcomed and well-cared for during our stay.

We brought our 24' pontoon boat and were able to tie it off at the floating dock next door with a few big fenders. This made for great trips up and down the river. Our favorite spot was Fanning Springs so we made the quick 10 minute or less scoot up the river to enjoy the best swimming hole ever! The jumping sturgeon are a sight to see from the cantilever dock which was very large and gave us plenty of room to relax in the chairs and loungers. It was a great place to enjoy morning coffee or a beautiful evening. The Suwannee River Retreat is just that! It is most definitely the BEST place we have ever stayed on the Suwannee and we will be back soon.

Rest and Relaxation in a Beautiful Setting = Suwannee River Retreat!!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a comfortable property that would be a getaway from the stress of everyday life. We were not disappointed in any way!! The home and property is well maintained and beautifully furnished. Although we only used 1 bedroom, all rooms in the home were very clean and with fresh linens and plenty of towels. It was only the 2 of us but the home could easily accommodate the 10 people that it lists. Our next visit will be with our kids and grandchildren or friends - knowing that we'd all be comfortable. Would be a great place for a family gathering at the holidays or anytime. The description in the listing did not disappoint!!

We especially enjoyed the porch (a table would be nice out here) and the dock where we had our morning coffee and watched the sun come up, cocktails in the evening and were soothed by the flow of the river and wonderful breeze. My husband fished and caught a few bream while I read my book and snoozed :)

Got a kick out of watching the sturgeon jumping out of the water.

We were here for 2 days and the only time we left the property was to go to Hitchcock's grocery store which has anything that you need for your stay. And to take a ride up to Cross City and got a box of fresh gulf oysters from Rick's Seafood which we grilled and enjoyed both days on the charcoal camp grill. Also - GREAT fire pit.

Even though we both had cell service we didn't feel the need to use them. Had plenty of entertainment just enjoying the peaceful setting. So used to doing projects on time off, my husband was looking for a blower or some other equipment to play with - LOL. Not used to relaxing!!

All in all we thoroughly our stay and will be back.

Thanks for a great time at a great place.

Perfect Birthday Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a weekend in September, and it was amazing. Riding down the secluded driveway for the first time really made me know that this is where you want to go to get away from it all! The inside was really nice, and we could tell that it was just vacuumed and cleaned right before our arrival. That was the first thing that the girls complimented on when we walked in. There were plenty of dvd's to watch, but we just brought out the board games and spent the whole night playing them together! The bathrooms were very clean and had plenty of towels. The kitchen was fully furnished to cook everything we wanted for breakfast in the morning. We went and ate at the light house friday night. It was a local seafood restaurant, and I highly recommend it. Great seafood for a great price! Anyways, back to the house...The back yard was really big and the view of the river was awesome. I didn't bring my fishing pole because I didn't think there would be much in there. However, after I saw about 6 fish jump withing 10 minutes, I realized that I should have brought it (not sure what type of fish they were, but they were big). Oh well, I know next time, because we are already talking about renting this house again soon!

Owner's Response: Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. Those fish you saw are Sturgeon. Look them up, they are scary looking! :) Those are protected but there are plenty of fisherman/women on the river and they tell us our little nook is known for good fishing. Glad you enjoyed yourselves and looking forward to hosting you again!
