The Airstream Bambi
Nimble. Agile. Some would even say adorable!. The Airstream Bambi has always been a favorite among Airstreamers.
Airstream founder Wally Byam named the Bambi after a miniature deer he learned about on a 1959 caravan of Airstreams in Africa. The first Bambi launched as a 16-foot single-axle trailer in 1961.
The Bambi amenities include: fully equipped kitchen; heating and air conditioning; and fireside chairs. This Bambi is a 19' 2003 model. It has a memory foam double bed with luxury bedding, and a dinette that converts to a small double bed. All linens - towels, sheets, hand towels - are provided.
The kitchen is small but complete! Quality utensils, pans, dishes - everything you need to cook a great meal on the gas range.
The refrigerator has a small freezer, there's a corkscrew and wine glasses, and a french press for morning coffee.
All you need to bring is your food and personal items.
Want to tow it yourself? Contact us and if you are set up for towing and have some experience we will consider it. Bambi has a maximum gross weight of 4500 lbs and a tongue weight of about 500 lbs. To tow it you need a frame mounted hitch, a 7-pin electrical connector, and an electric brake controller.
We had such a great time in the 19-ft Bambi with our two boys and our dog! Steve had everything set up for us when we got to our campsite and did a great job explaining how everything works. We used Dungeness Spit as our home base to explore the northwest corner of the peninsula and still had plenty of time for camp fire and s'mores in the evenings. There were some rainy days but the Bambi was fully equipped with cozy bedding and mugs and a kettle for hot chocolate! Thanks so much for a great family vacation!
The Airstream was delivered to the property we were staying at and Steve and his wife hooked up and set up everything for us; including chairs and a table. The camper was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Cups, plates, cooking utensils as well as beach towels for the lake.
We had a fantastic experience staying in the Bambi! It was well equipped with everything we needed! The beds are super comfy and they left the best down comforter for my daughters bed! I highly recommend renting this for your next trip!
My husband and I rented the Bambi for a few nights out at Salt Creek. Steve had it all set up and ready to go when we arrived - we didn't use a hook-up but had plenty of battery, water, etc to survive. The trailer was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed! I would definitely rent it again and Salt Creek (recommended by Steve) was so fun! We enjoyed exploring the tide pools and hanging out at Crescent Beach.
We loved the cleanliness and sweet devor of Bambi. Steve and Denny were readily available to answer any questions. Bambi was all set up including the yellow loungers to welcome us upon arrival. Everything you need in a cute, compact Airstream. Highly recommend renting Bambi!
I pulled the trailer to Salt Creek Recreation Area with my truck. The trailer was easy to tow and tracked great on the road. Once there, "Bambee" performed perfectly. The trailer (I was in the smaller 19' one) has everything you need, and makes camping super simple. The owner, Steve, is very friendly, helped me get set up to tow, went over the trailer systems with me, and gave me the excellent suggestion to check out Salt Creek, which is a lovely place to spend a few days exploring the amazing tide pools and Crescent Beach at low and high tide. I will definitely be renting again from Steve. I had several people complement and ask me about the trailer, including owners of a larger Airstream who I met on the campground. I recommend this trailer for anyone looking to try something different and to explore interesting campgrounds on the peninsula.
