The view of Owasco Lake from the Lake-house Retreat is spectacular! The cupola offers a unique perspective and view of the lake as well. Built in the 1800's, this house is set back on a large lawn. The French doors of the main entrance open to a spacious front porch overlooking the lake. The charming and comfortable lake home offers many areas for relaxation as well as large and spacious living quarters.
Upon entering the house there is a downstairs bedroom to the left. This bedroom has a bunk bed as well as a full size bed. The kitchen is beautiful with intricate stained glass inlays in the wooden cupboards. The kitchen is fully equipped. The dining room has a gorgeous crystal chandelier and has a full sized dining table with matching cabinet and china. There is a full bath downstairs. The living room includes cable television. There are two comfortable leather couches for your relaxation. This room opens up into the billiard room, for your enjoyment. The house also has WiFi access.
The second floor master bedroom has a king sized bed, with a couch and great view of the lake. Off the master bedroom is the spacious master bathroom which has a jacuzzi tub. The remaining bedrooms on the second floor include full size beds in addition to a day bed with trundle. There is a full bath as well on the second floor. Above the second floor is a awesome cupola which is perfect for reading, relaxing or napping.
This house was beautiful and ideal for our large multi-generational family group. There were 14 of us, ranging in age from 8 months to 80 years. We had plenty of space, enjoyed the pool table, and especially appreciated the large comfortable front porch area for relaxing conversation and a perfect view of the lake. We will plan to return and highly recommend this house for a large group.
The house was indeed beautiful and historic, however it was also spacious and comfortable for our weekend get-away with family and friends. We fully enjoyed using the kayaks and canoe to explore the lake; the dock was conveniently located right across the street. There were also many water floats and chairs to relax in closer to shore. We had fun using some of the outdoor games that were provided, including badminton and bocce ball. The kitchen was well-stocked with enough glasses, plates, pots and pans to cook for and feed our group of 14, and we enjoyed having meals both in the dining room as well as on the large front porch. Unfortunately our plans for s'mores by the campfire were rained out, but not before we managed to have a nice barbecue on the grill in the backyard. As for bedrooms and bathrooms, there were plenty of rooms to accommodate everyone comfortably. We had a great time!
Everything we hoped for. Great House, Great Location, Plenty to do. The entire family said it was one of the best vacations we have had.
A group of 12 friends stayed for a weekend (Fri-Sun) at the Lake House and it was absolutely wonderful. The pictures don't do this house justice, it is gorgeous. We had a great time in the house, there was plenty of sleeping space and the views on the lake were amazing (blue moon). Several people enjoyed taking the canoe and kayaks out on the lake, we grilled out and had a bonfire at night, and they guys got their use out of the billiards table. The house was about an hour drive to Ithaca or to Watkins Glenn, we ended up doing tasting down on the south east end of Seneca lake and slowly making our way back. The house is just outside downtown Auburn and we found plenty of restaurants and shopping to pickup anything we needed. Amy was easy to communicate with and sent my security deposit back in less than a week. We are definitely considering coming back next year.
