About Andrea and Mark Malin

He's a software developer and she blogs about their travels in their Airstream. Both born and raised in Southern California -- Culver City and Pasadena -- and married for 6 years. We have a rear house on the property where our daughter lives so there is always someone around to provide advice, directions or an extra key.

Why Andrea and Mark Malin chose Mar Vista

Our neighborhood is very walkable and safe, plus there are restaurants, markets, bars, coffee houses and a Sunday Farmers Market just a block away!

Purchased 18 years ago, we renovated this mid-century house ourselves and consider it a labor of love. We feel very lucky to be able to own a piece of West Los Angeles and share it with others.

What makes this house unique

It's difficult to find a 5 bedroom house in West LA, especially one as nice as ours, for such a reasonable price, too! We are freeway close to everything LA has to offer -- Disneyland, Universal Studios, Hollywood and Downtown LA -- and minutes to Venice and Santa Monica AND Malibu beaches, as well. Its one of the reasons we bought the house in the first place, just a great property with a terrific location.

Great time in west LA

We arrived on a late Saturday afternoon and were greeted by mark and Andrea with a fruit and cheese platter which our kids devoured after a long flight. We stayed with another family of five so ten of us altogether. The house accommodated us very well! The house was clean and the kitchen was well stocked with any utensils you could need. Our favorite part was our short scenic drive to Malibu. Walked on the pier and spent the entire day on the beach next to it. Kids played all day in the huge waves. Overall enjoyed our stay and mark and Andrea were helpful with any question or advice we needed!

GREAT!!

Mark was amazing!! My family & I(11 of us) celebrated my daughters college graduation by traveling to LA, so we decided to go with a this home instead of hotel. This was my first experience with a home so I was nervous, praying it would be as nice as the pictures. The house was beautiful, Mark & his wife were very welcoming. We would definitely be using them again whenever we visit. I definitely recommend this home we loved it!!

Amazing

By far one of the best b&b’s we’ve stayed at. Conveniently located not far from Venice and Santa Monica. Cvs and grocery store right next door. Mark and Andrea are awesome. There was cheese and fresh cut strawberries when we arrived which was perfect after a long flight. Later in the week Mark cooked for us and they had dinner with our group. Great getting to know Mark and Andrea!

Warm, welcoming visit to Venice Beach property ID 729826

My family group of 8 had a wonderful stay at the Mar Vista home in the Venice Beach area of Los Angeles. Mark and Andrea greeted us on arrival with a very warm welcome and a cheese and fruit tray! Plus, they took the time to answer any questions about the area, home and directions. The home was clean, well stocked with dishes, cooking needs (pans, utensils, plus basics like spices, oils, condiments), plenty of towels, beach towels, shampoos, soaps. All five bedrooms were nicely furnished and the beds and linens were comfortable and very nice. There are plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and a grocery (1/2 mile) within walking distance. There is one parking space in the driveway and easy unrestricted street parking. Venice Beach is a two mile walk, but there is also plenty of public parking within close walking distance to the beach. My family and I would highly recommend Mark and Andrea's Mar Vista home.

Loving it in LA

Wonderful house in a great location. My mom and Auntie loved it and repeatedly thanked me for booking such a great house. The owners Mark and Andrea were so nice. Upon arrival they had prepared a fruit and cheese platter along with cold beverages for us. That was very impressive. We love the location so close to the beach. We spent 3 nights at the house and then stayed a couple nights at the Disneyland Grand Hotel. We enjoyed our time at the house more than we Disneyland. My husband has already decided he wants to go again and stay at this house.

Very walkable, family-friendly location with several restaurants, coffee houses and bars within blocks of our home, including a Sunday Farmers Market 2 blocks away. Venice Beach is 2 miles west straight down Venice Blvd and Santa Monica lies just north of Venice, featuring the famous Santa Monica Pier and 3rd Street Promenade, famous for wonderful shopping, eating and people watching! Plus we're 10 minutes from LA International Airport (LAX), 30 minutes to Universal Studios, 25 minutes to Hollywood Blvd, and an hour to Disneyland. We are truly freeway close to everything you'd want to do in Los Angeles.

Check in time is 4pm and checkout is 11 am. Guests are welcome to enjoy all parts of the house, but the back yard is off-limits. Our daughter and her family live in the rear house on our property, so that is their area to enjoy.
