My husband Mike and I always wanted a place to go outside the hustle and bustle of the city to host holidays with family, and relax with our 7year old son, when we saw this home our dreams came true, it's a true family compound. growing up in Massachussets I wanted our son to get his hands dirty and experience nature. He has 30 acres to explore and now call himself "a country kid".
Jill Pallad purchased this chateau / country house in 2012
There are so many reasons why I thank my husband for talking me into buying this home. We have been making beautiful family memories by hosting holidays here and spending summers. Our son is thriving, he is an expert swimmer now, champion frog catcher, loves talking golf lessons at the The Links and is counting the days until summer camp at Hillcroft.
Dining alfresco on our deck with the majestic views of the Catskills mountains at sunset is one of my favorite features of this home. That along with hiking the trails throughout the property and ending the night by the fire out roasting s'mores are another few reasons why we love it here.
The pictures here don't do this house justice. You will be blown away by the grandness of the main living space when you see it in person. The view and sunset from the main living room/back deck are incredible (an awesome surprise). We were 14 adults, 2 kids, and 4 babies and the place never felt cramped (one couple slept on an air mattress). The house itself is built of solid materials and is furnished with high-end items in every corner. Beds are extremely comfortable and every room was given thought and attention to detail. The house is very well-equipped for cooking and baking. We were there in the winter so we didn't have access to the pool, but the fire pit and garden areas are beautifully manicured and impeccably maintained. Too many other little amenities and surprises to list all of them. On top of all of that, the host was extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended.
We just spent a wonderful Thanksgiving at this beautiful home. We were a group of 7 adults and 9 children and everyone had a great time. The kid space downstairs was filled with toys, games, and books, and the children (aged 4 - 9) had a blast there and playing outside on the zip line, swing set, and the basketball and bocce "courts". The pool was closed for the season, which was sad but not unexpected, but we enjoyed the fire pit and views from the fabulous deck. All of the adults raved about the comfortable beds, and the kitchen was equipped perfectly for all of our cooking. The owner Jill went above and beyond to prepare the house for our stay and was incredibly responsive while we were there when we had questions. We hope to come back in the summer and highly recommend this home.
J's home is beautiful. The house combines exquisite taste for adults with a downstairs children's zone that is a young person's paradise of games and books. The pool is sensational, the multi acre yard and woods are lovely, and the views are inspiring. We will return to this refined and inspiring home.
The photos don't do this place justice. Very well kept, very clean(!!), very large grounds with impressive decor and finishes. We were a group of 13 of mid twenties couples and friends and had more than enough space.
The pool and and location were really the key amenities for us but this home could easily be well suited for families with children. That being said, we also did not venture off the property other than a few times and still did not tire. Markets are literally 10 mins away, but the house is secluded enough providing a sense of privacy.
Very well appointed kitchen, decent space -- we had no problem cooking to feed 13 adults.
Plenty of parking (5-6). The driveway is a bit long, appropriately paved but we had 1 very low bearing car. It's completely doable but required caution. Also a big plus to be able to park a car in the garage (if you're protective).
Super responsive and friendly owners - always available via text/phone/email. We had no issues with getting any questions/concerns addressed and answered.
This is really not just a rental property. We felt at home upon arrival and would most definitely be back. Thank you Jill!
