All the charm of the desert lifestyle. the perfect getaway.
This is a really nice house with a beautiful yard in a great neighborhood. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The house was extremely clean and the kitchen was well-equipped for convenient cooking, including some basics like sugar and flour. There was plenty of patio furniture for enjoying the yard. The garage is large with generous driveway space. There are great views of the Superstition Mountains from the backyard and beautiful sunset views from the front yard. The neighborhood felt very safe and the neighbors were extremely friendly. We will definitely consider this house for future visits.
We found this place as a "half way point" between a flight from NC and a drive from CA to meet with family for Thanksgiving. We did a LOT of research and made a number of phone calls to owners before happily deciding on this wonderful property in Gold Canyon, AZ. Frankly, it was the phone call with Mike (the owner) which sold us - very friendly, accommodating and informative about the property.
Upon arrival, the property is quite impressive, both inside and out. It was very clean and well maintained, and of course, when you open the blinds to the back yard and see the pool area and Superstition Mountain in the distance, it really takes your breath away.
There was plenty of room for the 5 of us in the 3 bedrooms (1 master w/ en suite bath; 2 which share a bathroom), and there were enough towels, etc. for our 1 week stay. The kitchen is quite large and well appointed, and we cooked several meals while we were there. There's even an office off of the kitchen which we used for some quiet "computer time" (leveraging the very fast Wi-Fi service) during the stay.
The pool area is quite lovely, but the water was a bit cold that time of year, and we didn't feel it necessary to try to force the solar heater to work overtime to heat it up. I'm sure during the warmer AZ months, it's really nice. We did use the hot tub some, and definitely used the outdoor fire pit on those chilly, November evenings!
The Gold Canyon area is a bit off the beaten path vis-à-vis activities in the Phoenix area, but really it's only a 30 minute drive to the western parts of PHX, including Scottsdale, so it's not too bad if you want to get to some of the higher end restaurants and resorts. Locally, there are several restaurants in the area, including a nice one at the nearby golf course for outdoor drinks and dining. The Basha's grocery store is very close by, and has a Starbucks for those wanting "fancy" coffees. There are also plenty of outdoor activities (e.g., hiking, golf) nearby.
Mike (the owner) provided excellent customer service during our stay. He was always available to help us with questions about the property and the area. He also quickly resolved an issue we had with the two gas tanks both being empty, by contacting the propane provider to fill those tanks so we could enjoy the fireplace.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting a relaxing desert getaway!
My husband and I spent 9 nights at this beautiful home in October. The photos do not do the home justice. It is more beautiful and the rooms are bigger than they look. It's super clean and well stocked. We loved it! The pool, waterfall, and hot tube are perfect! It's on a very peaceful quiet street. We sat in the yard and enjoyed the spectacular view while listening to the waterfall...so relaxing and tranquil! Just what we needed! The fenced yard gives you perfect privacy.
All your grocery and other needs are short driving distance. I had to go into Phoenix for meeting daily and it was an easy drive, straight shot down I 60 to get there.
We LOVED it!! We hope that next year when we return, that it is still on homeaway. Thank you for the use of your beautiful home Mike!!
I would definantly recommend this home! The home was spotless and the view of Superstition Mountain is amazing!
When I booked our stay on vrbo it was actually the other home the owner had, he called to let us know he was in the middle of selling the home and he had purchased a new home. He said we could rent that home and he sent pictures for us to decide. I was a little nervous about everything but when we got to the home and he walked us through...it was beautiful! The owner, Mike, was so nice, even with the mix up at the end of our stay(that was totally my fault). When we come out next year we will definantly be staying here!
