The villa is situated in olive groves and not on a development on a quiet lane but within easy walking distance of the village - 8 minutes to the village square

A large 10m by 4.5m pool for all the family to enjoy has easy access wide Roman steps and no ladders.

Villa Ariadne is a comfortable light and airy detached villa.

All balconies have stunning views of the White Mountains and the open countryside. There is full air conditioning included in the price.

The gardens, carport and pool are on the same level around the house making it easy for access.

There are 3 steps up to the front door and three from the verandah to the patio and paths around the villa

The open plan lounge and kitchen/diner are upstairs with two balconies.

On the first floor you will also find the master bedroom with luxury king size divan bed ,fully fitted wardrobes, mirror, dressing table, voiles and french doors to a balcony.

The upstairs shower room has a newly fitted rain shower 200mm in size and an english glass shower cabinet with 900mm ceramic shower tray .

The two twin-bedded bedrooms are downstairs and have a large terrace and/or balcony and a large family bathroom tiled in blue and white with a bath/shower.

This arrangement is ideal for families or couples sharing who require some privacy as they can sleep on separate floors.

The washing machine is downstairs under the stairs

Windows and doors are double glazed with shutters in white aluminium.

The lane to the villa is a quiet one and leads to Gavalohori Square in 8 minutes on foot. It is driveable with normal car and no 4*4 required.

There is large covered area having a tiled roof with a table and chairs at one end of the pool and an open patio at the other end with 2 parasols.

A gravelled area with a stone seating area around an ancient olive tree provides shade and extra seating/ dining area and a place to relax away from the pool. There is also a table and chairs on the back verandah and the same arrangement upstairs off the living room.

FREE welcome basket includes wine water OJ eggs biscuits tea coffee sugar, loo rolls, tissues and liquid hand soap. A bottle of our estate organic extra virgin olive oil is also included.

Outdoor pool shower,

Mature gardens with palm trees olive trees, shrubs and flowers, patios, shaded area.

Electric gated entrance with a tiled roof carport for keeping your car cool in the heat of the summer.

The owner gives EXCLUSIVE use of the swimming pool to guests during their holiday as owner does not use the pool when guests are in residence.The owner live in the adjacent villa and happy to give help and support to guests, if required : Please note that the owner leaves guests to enjoy their stay at all times without interference but is very happy to chat or give ideas of where to go and where to eat out.

Also there are no immediate neighbours or other villas to overlook the villas or the pool. The grounds are just under 1 acre in size and fully fenced and stone wall to the front of the property.

VILLAGE AND TAVERNAS

Close by is the charming and friendly village of Gavalochori which has three tavernas including Arismari and Monica's and Niko's, a bakery and two mini markets..

LOCAL INTEREST

Folk Museum an ancient Olive Mill with beautiful Cretan arches and interesting Greek churches. Roman wells can also be found above the village. Lovely walks

Superb, quiet and peaceful Location in a luxury Villa

Four of us stayed at this villa in June 2018 and had a great time. Penny the owner lives next door but was very obliging in being available when needed but away sufficiently that we had plenty of privacy. The Villa is 400 metres up a track and surrounded by olive groves. There are lovely views of the White Mountains to the South West and we saw some lovely sunsets.

The villa itself has all mod cons including air conditioning and balconies to each bedroom. The outside space is fabulous, with a large pool, sun or shade patio and BBQ.

Go back down to the track and a few hundred yards further along the road is the village, with a choice of Tavernas & small shops including a bakery.

The coast and beaches are only a few miles away and are lovely and sandy in many areas.

Overall this villa is well recommended for staying in and touring to, the western side of Crete. Fab!

The Luxury of your own Private Pool

Villa Ariadne is very private with wonderful views of the White Mountains. We have known Gavalachori for over 20 years and it is a perfect central location for Georgeopolis, Kalives, Almerida and Chania market on a Saturday morning. Visit Kissamos for a traditional fish restaurant and up to Falassarna for honey raki and wonderful swimming. You need a car!

Ariadne has a good kitchen and a BBQ in the garden - get your meat from the brilliant butcher in Kalives.

The property is a 10 to 15 minute walk to the village, mainly along a rough farmyard track which is very dark at night. Good tavernas with friendly staff.

Overall, a good place to stay, clean, well-

maintained and very private.

We may well return at some future date.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of my villa. I think presentation is very important and is based upon how I would like a villa to be. It is indeed well placed for visiting many places. The country lane is an agricultural road so nice and quiet and a torch is always necessary unless of course there is a full moon when it becomes very magical amongst the olive trees bordering the lane. Steer by the stars!! The situation is very tranquil and private and just what is what is required to get away from it all but not so far from great tavernas in the village , nearby villages and the beaches.

Excellent

We have stayed in many a villa on the beautiful island of Crete and Villa Ariadne is up there with the best of them.

Situated in a quiet country location so stunning views, yet within a 10 minute stroll along a dusty track to the village of Gavalochori which has a couple of superb tavernas. We found this a really enjoyable bonus with this villa.

The villa itself was very clean and equipped with all that was needed plus, the beds and pillows were really comfy so took no getting used to which must be a first !! Penny the owner also did a very thorough clean of the villa during our stay.

We all enjoyed the large pool and was particularly impressed with the wide, non slip steps into it. No dodgy metal ladders to negotiate plus there was a shallow ledge even in the deeper end. The pool is surrounded by pretty gardens which attracts lots of butterflies.

The beach at Almyrida is just a 10 minute drive away and so to is the village of Douliana which also has a great taverna.

Penny was on hand if we needed her but otherwise we were completely left to enjoy our holiday. We have no hesitation in recommending.

Relaxing, stunning location, lovely villa

We had an amazing stay. The photos just do not do it justice! Immaculately clean with lots of thoughtful touches - especially things like bread, milk, wine and loo rolls! Great rural location within walking distance (with a torch at night) of a couple of fantastic tavernas in the beautiful picturesque village of Gavalochori.

Exactly as described and expected but more so

Just two of us stayed for a week. We felt guilty and not having two more to share the lovely experience! The property is immaculate and well kitted out. We enjoyed drinks and breakfasts on the upper terrace and downstairs in the shaded part of the very private garden. Chania Airport was easy and the owner's most precise directions got us to the villa without a hitch, even in the dark, in 40 minutes. It is in a charming location just outside the village, but not too remote, along a virtually unused track. The walk through the Olive groves to get to the two tavernas was a genuine leisurely 11minutes and a part of our holiday which we really enjoyed every day. It is quiet here, we weren't aware of any midges or mosquitoes. There was no passing traffic. We drank the local wine, sampled the local olive oil and enjoyed the local food. If possible shop before arriving, Penny the owner will have told you where; we were just too late. It is a good base from which to explore this part of Crete, with beaches, noisier towns, delightful old villages, archeological sites etc all never too far away.

The satellite TV is not what one might expect at home but then we never switched it on. Also there is no WiFi, but again it was little bother as every taverna and even some entire town areas all offered free WiFi. Mobile phone reception was very good. Everyone including the owner here were very friendly and we would certainly recommend it to like-minded travelers.

The backdrop of the White Mountains the olive groves and hilltop village of Douliana provide the wonderful scenery from the villa . The local village of Gavalohori has three tavernas, - the womens lace co-operative, three small supermarkets and a bakery and it is a lovely traditional Greek village with friendly people

Watersports are available at Almirida beach. Scuba diving in Almerida. Horseriding in Georgeoupoli.

There are many walks in the area to enjoy plus plenty of wildlife. The sandy beaches at Almirida and Kalives are nearby and have all facilities of tavernas coffee bars, beach bars supermarkets, chemists. Nightlife can be found in Almerida with its numerous bars, Greek tavernas english run restaurants and cafes.

Enjoy Chania with its Venetian Harbour and wonderful old side streets for a coffee or meal.. There are museums, a superb indoor market and many shops to browse in. A beautiful city with a great buzz and numerous coffee shops to sit and watch the world go by.
