I am a military officer and pilot as well as a real estate professional. I have extensive travel experience and understand the nuances associated with creating a comfortable and memorable experience in our nation's capitol.
Since being built in 1880 numerous Senators, Congressmen, artists, and academics have all resided at what is now Hill Flats.
The building was previously used as a lecture hall and residence for scholars conducting research at the Library of Congress which is across the street.
Due to the buildings immediate proximity to national monuments, the National Park Service and Washington DC has designated Hill Flats a Historic building and has registered it under the Capitol Overlay and Fine Arts District. This designation ensures that all preservation is conducted under the direction of the Architect of the Capitol.
Hill Flats has been meticulously preserved while ensuring that it meets modern comforts.

Incredible architecture and historic charm in an unbeatable location.
We had a wonderful time at The Hill's Flat! Space was even better than the pictures and had everything we needed. We were able to walk to all of the major sites and for those in neighboring communities we were just a short walk to the Metro. Capital Hill is a wonderful bustling neighborhood in which we always felt safe.
Location location !
The close proximity to the US Capital, Supreme Court, and Library of Congress made for great acesd to those sights. The Metro & Union Station were each within an easy walk. The many neighborhood eateries were fun experiences.
Staying in a historic home, with uniquely squeaky floors, made Washington history feel very personal.
The place was convenient for our visit, close to Metro and Capital Bikeshare which we used a lot. Facilites were nice and clean, but would have liked more reading light. Would stay here again if in DC.
This was our third time staying here. We always enjoy the view and the convenience and the closeness of everything. The place is always very clean and fresh every time. The rooms are just like the listing described and all you need to enjoy the stay. The owner has always been very helpful providing the information you need for checking in and out. We loved the way he let you leave your bags coming and going.
We walked to most all the places we needed to go like the Cafe Berlin (German restaurant) on Massachusetts ave. NE that was very good and reasonable. The Sweetgreen (Make your own Salad Restaurant) on Pennsylvania ave SE was a new experience for us because we don't have that down south.
I would recommend this place to all my friends and family
This apartment is in a great location for seeing Washington, DC. Walking to sites, metro, restaurants, etc. is easy. We enjoyed staying in this cute apartment.
The location is absolutely perfect. Literally steps from the Capitol, Library of Congress, or trains/buses to go anywhere. Apartment was perfect for myself and 8 yr old son. Lots of restaurants, small grocers, and shops nearby had everything we needed. Everything we needed for comfort was available in the apartment. Would definitely stay there again.
