Quality Home on the Beach in unspoilt Seaside Village just 50 m from the Sea

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 1 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bedroomed, 2 bathroom with decked garden and beach access which sleeps 5/6

Seaview is a charming unspoilt seaside village which is popular for family beach holidays, sailing and fishing and year round walking. This three bedroom holiday home is part of a well-maintained high quality development right on the seafront with direct access to Seaview's two main beaches and the Isle of Wight Coastal Footpath. Patio doors open from the living room to the stunning, south facing, decked garden which can be lit for evening dining under the palm trees. The property has just been redecorated and furnished to a high standard and is an ideal year round holiday home. The development is private and very quiet. Parking is a short distance from the property though you can park right outside the front door to load and unload. Seaview village has a few shops including a fabulous community shop , a hotel with a great restaurant and a pub all just a short stroll along the beach or road, depending on the state of the tide. It takes less than 10 minutes to collect the fresh croissants for breakfast!

Seaview is a prime bucket and spade holiday village originally popular with the Victorians which still has an old world charm. There is only one small hotel, albeit with a famous restaurant. The roads are too narrow for coaches so it has remained an unspoilt gem frequented by generations of those in the know.

The living room has sliding doors to a south facing private decked sunny garden with steps to the seafront

path from which the beaches and slipway are reached. You can step in your swimsuit from the garden to the sea, about 20m at high tide! This garden is a fantastic suntrap and has a wonderful view of the Solent All three bedrooms have sea views and the master bedroom has a small balcony. The house is very light and airy, decorated in shades of blue and yellow, with the twin and single bedrooms sharing one bathroom and the master double bedded room having an ensuite bathroom and small balcony.

There is a good sized airing cupboard on the landing and a utility room off the ample kitchen which has a breakfast table. The living room has a dining table to seat eight and comfortable seating to relax in and is equipped with books, games and TV.

The Isle of Wight has nine golf courses, horse riding and many attractions for a great day out including the famous dinosaur centre at Blackgang Chine. In Ryde (4 miles) there are shops, supermarkets, bowling, a cinema and even an ice rink for the occasional rainy day, though the Isle of Wight is noted for its sunny weather. On a perfect sunny day nothing beats a morning on the beach, a walk to Baywatch Cafe for a fish lunch and a barbecue in the garden for supper. Seaview is a great base for walkers exploring the east of the island and, for bird-watchers, Bembridge Harbour is a noted site for viewing wading birds.

Although busiest in the summer holidays Seaview is a great year round destination and the house has plenty of hot water and combined night storage and convector heaters for winter warmth.

Fantastic location, very comfy stay :)

Really great property in fantastic location right on the beach. We loved being able to walk into the village along the beach - tide permitting. The kids loved exploring in the rock pools and Seaview has some super spots to eat and drink. Anne was so helpful before and during our stay - great communication throughout. Overall, property was clean, comfy, no-frills - suited us perfectly and fantastic value for money - would def book again.

On the whole it was lovely

  • 4 of 5

The house and location was wonderful. We found the property didn't smell fresh, the bedding in the main room smelt a little damp, we later discovered there was mould on the curtains over the door which was probably the cause. Any other issues were soon rectified by Colin who was very helpful.

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed your holiday at Seaview Bay but a little surprised on your comments on the freshness of the bedclothes. I can assure you that I had washed and tumble dried them myself and the main bedroom only made up 48 hrs before you arrived. As for the mould on the curtains, this is caused by the bedroom balcony door being left open when it's raining, they get wet and can get mould on. I believe that the helpful Colin noticed that you had the door open in the rain too! They get washed regularly but the black still shows. I think the next curtains need a different type of lining. We constantly update the house and this is a useful thought for the future.

My first visit to the Isle of Wight and I was delighted with the choice of this property. It was as described, very well maintained, clean and comfortable. Only steps from the beach and such a lovely location, peaceful at the time of our visit and so very relaxing.

I would thoroughly recommend and hope to have the chance to re-visit myself.

Not a true description given. Not really a house more duplex apartment as apartments above property.

Not good experience. No access as key holder not there on our arrival. Owner not very sympathetic after 8 hour journey- had to wait over an hour before key arrived. In fact she ignored phone call from my husband whilst he was trying to help me as my phone kept losing signal. Owner does not give any contact numbers on her info - beware as I only had email address and no signal. Parking up 3 large flights of stairs with no lighting when dark. Creepy when you are single female parking car. This was not made clear in any editorial about 'house'. Could not get shower in main bathroom to work only had cold water despite following instructions constantly. Equipment not 'PAT' tested. No certification visible. Some kitchen equipment very old and needed cleaning before use. No hot water had to search out how to get hot water. Many instructions how to turn heating off as costs much to run. As a renter it is a holiday you do not go round being economical to please owner especially one who doesn't care about renters.

Would not recommend as owner blamed caretaker for lack of access and said 'have a go at caretaker next morning '. Never saw caretaker and appalled at owners attitude. If my husband on the mainland had not contacted owner by email I would have to return home as couldn't gain access to a holiday home I had paid for in good faith.

Owner's Response: This tenant sadly had an unfortunate holiday, half her family had cancelled, she had a long journey and not very good weather and then entirely due to our mistake she had to wait 40 minutes to gain entry to the property. This was not a good start, but writing a review full of inaccuracies and misinformation does not help anyone. After many years of very successful letting no one has ever been kept waiting before, but to ensure it never happens again we have now fitted a Keysafe, details of which are included in the directions. Mobile reception is patchy in the Isle of Wight, this is why we find it more satisfactory for tenants to communicate via email, which this tenant did, and enabled us to get the house opened quickly. I also spoke to her via my landline, and as well as apologising profusely and frequently, was able to tell her the exact time of the arrival of a keyholder. Her husband’s call to me, threatening to sue me did not help the situation. As far as her other allegations are concerned Seaview is not creepy, it is one of the safest places in the world! The stairs to the parking are very well lit all night and there are street lights in the parking road. However this tenant never used the parking. Because of the unfortunate arrival and elderly relative (and the development being pretty empty) she was permitted to park outside the door during her entire stay. There is a folder of information, with the suggestion “please read on arrival” prominently displayed on the kitchen table, which if she had looked at the first evening, she might have read the instruction on the first page to turn on the immersion for hot water. Presumably she did not realise the man she invited in to turn on the immersion, and later demonstrate how the shower in the main bathroom works (there are in fact instructions prominently displayed beside it) was in fact the caretaker she claims not to have met! I believe the cleaner also popped in too. I have checked the shower in question this week and it is working perfectly. As for the heating instructions, we find some of our tenants are not familiar with combi night storage and convector heaters so we try to explain in the instructions that it is better to keep the night storage on and only use the convectors for a boost when required. The kitchen had been cleaned to the usual high standard before her arrival, the toaster and kettle are less than a year old and the fitted electrical appliances all in good working order.

Lovely location and superbly equipped.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house which was extremely well equipped and spacious. Right on the edge of a stunning beach and lovely pubs and walks close by.

It was lovely to stay somewhere with such a well equipped kitchen and although we ate out a lot there was everything you needed to eat in.

We will definitely return.

Seaview is a well-known sailing centre with a number of public slipways and charming beaches to suit all tastes, Sandcove beach and Seagrove Bay are on the doorstep. Priory Bay, possibly the best beach on the IOW, is a 15 minutes walk from the house. There is good fishing from close to the shore and deep sea trips can be booked from nearby Bembridge.

There are an amazing number of attractions on the Isle of Wight for a place that measures only 23 miles by 13 miles. The Isle of Wight has over 60 places to visit with plenty of things to to do come rain or shine! There are fun parks with thrilling rides, animal and bird sanctuaries, carnivals and festivals to delight visitors of all ages.

Wherever you go on the Isle of Wight you will see evidence of a fascinating past, going back to the time of the dinosaurs. Roman villas, medieval castles, historic houses, Osborne House- Queen Victoria's home for many years and exhibitions which reflect life in a bygone age.

Golf: The Isle of Wight has 6 golf courses of which Ryde is the nearest one to Seaview. Freshwater is probably the most scenic and Sandown and Shanklin the most testing. Cowes is also very popular and all are happy to have visitors.
