We spent a great two night get - away at Amore De Bay. Bonnie was a gracious hostess warmly greeting us, providing us with breakfast (warm muffins on the second morning), and even recognizing our wedding anniversary with a balloon. The suite is located on the bay complete with a phenomenal view. The city of Menominee is a short drive south for restaurants and J W Wells State Park is a short drive north for any number of outdoor activities. We recommend this peaceful spot for recharging anyone's politically weary spirit.
Thank you to the Marshalls for sharing their beautiful, lakefront suite with us. We were greeted with genuine hospitality when we arrived. Bonnie gave us a wonderful orientation and she and Bob both were available to answer any questions that arose. Even though it was a wet weekend, we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the U.P. with a stop at a winery and a workout at the Menominee YMCA. The spa-like bathroom with whirlpool tub was definitely my favorite part. The cedar-lined cathedral ceiling made bedroom feel much larger (and smell refreshing too). We found it to be an easy drive from Chicago. Al and I are eager to come back and pick up where we left off.
It was great!
Waking up in the morning to a gorgeous sunrise over the lake was incredible. We enjoyed grilling and eating meals by the water savoring the beauty!
There are a few wineries and breweries relatively nearby, a few picturesque small towns and some parks with lovely trails and waterfalls!
We greatly enjoyed the hospitality of the hosts!! We felt bad for having the hosts do so much for us: we would have been perfectly happy to do our own dishes and cook our own breakfast. We understand that safety is an issue in running a Bed&Breakfast, but we think it would benefit both the clients and the hosts to install a small electric stove and a kitchen sink.
The bed was really really soft - which is amazing at first but did lead to a bit of back pain since it does not provide good lumbar support.
The cabin was gorgeous, very cozy - we loved the fireplace simulator and the high ceilings.
Overall, it was a wonderful getaway at the beginning of the fall season!! After we had posted our pictures on Facebook, a friend immediately asked where we went and that she wanted to go on vacation there!
We highly recommend this lovely, romantic getaway! The room was beautifully decorated and impeccably clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the speakers throughout brought music to every room. The view was breathtaking and peaceful. Our hosts were wonderful and gave us complete privacy. There were many things to do in the local area and beyond. We traveled a short distance north to Escanaba where we toured the lighthouse and then went to Harris to the Island Resort & Casino. We are very happy that we made the decision to stay at Amore' De Bay!
Amore' De Bay was perfect for our 60th anniversary. The cottage is bright and cheerful; the view of the Bay is relaxing to look at from the screen porch or the gazebo. We enjoyed our coffee and muffin and fruit in the morning in our comfortable room.
Amore’ is clean and comfortable. Bonnie had many amenities for our use. We enjoyed the dish TV music, the breakfast in the morning and just being able to read or rest. The bed is very comfortable and there are two comfortable chairs in the room. We also enjoyed the “fire” in the stove.
Our children had a Limousine pick us up for our anniversary dinner at The Landing Restaurant in Menomonee. Bonnie was right there with her camera to take photos for us. Bonnie and Bob really made us feel that this was home for4 days and three nights.
Amore’ has everything you need accept ice. So if you wish a cold drink be sure to bring your own ice.
Thanks Bonnie and Bob for doing all you could to make our anniversary special.
