Why Juliet Jarvis chose Nice City Centre
There is no better city for a weekend away, or longer, with numerous flights from all over Europe daily; azure blue seas on the doorstep, mountains and skiing an hour 30 minutes away and of course, French cuisine in the charming old (and new) areas of Nice. This house was converted over 12 months from an old industrial building, that had formerly been a printing press and a wine bottling plant: the domed shape of the wine cellars can still be seen in the bedrooms below. It has a truly enviable location on the doorstep of everything in Nice (including a fantastic boulangerie at the courtyard gates), yet is located in an incredibly peaceful courtyard, with parking. For a stay up to a week, there really is no need for a car. Explore the old town and Cours Saleya flower market. Take the train to Villefranche harbour - magical - or even rent a boat there. Head for museums and art galleries, or the pebbly beach and its concessionaires for a lazy sunbed. Nowhere else does rose wine taste as good as lunch on the beach in some excellent restaurants,, overlooking the blue of the Baie des Anges, with only a 100 metre stagger home....

Absolutely nothing to say against this property, it's stunning. It had everything we needed within it and the location for everything outside was so close. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone and if I happen to come back to Nice this would be my first choice.
Beautiful house. Great for a larger group. Perfect location.
Great house, location. Would definitely visit again.
Quite disappointing--would not recommend!
The rental is located in a central area of Nice, not far off the Promenade. The unit is also spacious, but the space is not well planned. We had wanted to cook during our stay, however there was a whirlpool which caused a very intense smell of chlorine, to the point of being somewhat nauseating. It permeated the main level. For this reason, we never felt comfortable cooking/eating a meal there. The bedrooms have no closet space, just a couple pegs in the wall to hang a couple garments on each peg. There is no drawer space for clothing, though there was some open shelves, where some items could be placed folded. I found it necessary to live out of my suitcase for my stay. Also the beds are very low to the floor. No box springs, just a mattress that is on a frame close to the tile floor. Two of the three lower level bedrooms have frosted glass in a portion of the ceiling going up to the main level. Privacy is maintained, however they are not light blocking. Early morning light was disturbing. At night, if some remain upstairs with the lights on in the living/dining room areas, it disturbs those in the bedrooms below. There is wifi provided in the loft, but It did not work well at all in any of the three lower level bedrooms. The ensuite bathrooms had nice shower heads, but in the rooms that did not have a tub, the water did not drain fast enough, and spread out quite a distance. It was necessary to squeegee the floor after every shower. Lighting above bathroom mirrors was non-existent. It made it very hard to shave for a man, and hard for the women to put on make-up. A small towel bar was provided in the bath areas that would hold a hand towel, but there was no towel bar large enough for a wet bath towel after your shower or even a hook to hang it on. Each room had two bath size towels provided for a six day stay. We all found it necessary to constantly be running to the dryer so we could re-use our limited bath towel supply. Lastly, very poor, slow communication from the property owner. It took days for her to answer questions before our stay and on a couple occasions she got things wrong. We had negotiated for one cleaning (paid) mid way thought our stay. I clearly stated (in writing) that we would like fresh towels and our bed linens changed. Our old towels were removed. The linens were not changed, and no fresh towels were left until I emailed the local property manger. Would not stay here again. Use caution and consider carefully if booking.
I am very sorry this guest did not enjoy his stay. Most importantly, we always say to guests that they should let us know immediately during their stay if there is an issue, not wait til afterwards, so we can try and put any issues right: either via the owner or by our English guardian in Nice.
The house is designed, on the ground floor, as a very modern, open plan living area including lounge, dining and kitchen, so that parties of up to ten can enjoy a sociable space. We are sorry if there was a smell of chlorine, however there are skylight windows above the Jacuzzi area that can be opened, and air conditioning. This should not affect cooking a meal.
The guest says we were slow to respond: we are in the UK, they were in the USA and there is a time difference. In addition there was confusion as two separate members of the party emailed with enquiries and it did not become clear til the end that they were the same group. They also emailed me mistakenly thinking I was their tour guide.
We agreed a mid way clean, however it should be clear this was a six-night stay in a rental house, not a hotel. Every guest is provided with bath and hand towels and bath mats and these were replaced: on request we provided further towels with no issue, even thought this is not normally necessary.
The shower rooms are all wet rooms, with powerful and plentiful hot water supply in every room: we will of course check for any unusual flooding.
All the beds are extremely comfortable - we are normally complemented on this. All of the beds are sprung except the master bedroom where there is a lower superking bed with a memory mattress. There is drawer storage in two of the rooms, open shelf storage and hanging facilities in all of the rooms.
The two rooms with very contemporary, small frosted glass panels cut into the floors above are very dark if the curtains in the living room are drawn at night. It is very easy to place something over the panels - the beanbags for example - if it is necessary to totally block the light.
Wifi is provided and works throughout the house.
We pride ourselves on having created a very contemporary house in the centre of Nice, which is extremely quiet, with five ensuite bathrooms and extremely spacious, that we have successfully rented and stayed in ourselves for over ten years. We enjoy helping guests explore Nice, many who are repeat bookings, and will always respond to any problems or queries as quickly as we can if we are aware.
perfect location and size
The house was nice and perfect size. The location was perfect, close to the beach and grocery markets. I look forward to returning.
We were a large family group differing ages and this villa had everything we needed. Property description is correct we were aware about lack of privacy in bedrooms upstairs and although strange and could be seen as being very indiscreet there were ways to rectify!! Air con to main bedroom not working however Joanna did everything she could to resolve this cannot recommend highly enough !! Jacuzzi was fab and would visit again. Thanks to Juliet for allowing us to share her beautiful home
Beautiful property, convenient location!
The house was clean, beautifully decorated, and perfectly situated within Central Nice. We were so lucky to be come by this listing and it more than satisfied every need of our family during our trip to Cote D'Azur for our wedding.
The bedrooms are spacious and it had every amenity a family could need to live abroad for nearly two weeks. Our parents went out every morning for a relaxing stroll on the Promenade and conveniently located near supermarkets, patisseries, cafes, and restaurants. It was walkable distance to tourist sites including Old Nice and Cours Saleya. We had a wonderful time.
We would like to especially thank the owner, Juliet, and the guardian, Joanna, as well for accommodating our extraordinary needs. Our trip was extended due extraneous circumstances and both Juliet and Joanna very kindly and professionally worked with us to find a solution for our living situation. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
This very modern property is located in central Nice in a very quiet courtyard just behind the Promenade des Anglais, opposite the Sheraton hotel and five minutes from the world-famous Negresco Hotel. The beach is just 100 metres away and virtually the whole of Nice town is within walking distance. The Old Town and Cours Saleya (flower market) is around 15/20 minutes walk along the Promenade. With the benefit of private parking at the property, this also puts towns such as Monaco and Cannes, and villages such as Eze and Vence within an easy drive. Even ski resorts such as Isola 2000 are just over an hour away during winter months. The airport is only 15 minutes by taxi, and the location of the property on fantastically easy-to-use bus routes also makes moving around extremely simple. Every amenity is on the doorstep, from artisan boulangeries; Nice's seven-day-a-week indoor farmers' market; supermarches; and a range of excellent restaurants, even without heading to the Old Town.
Other Activities: shopping, dining, flower market, old town, Promenade des Anglais.
