Popular past-times include birdwatching, hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoing, biking, fly fishing, photography, floating, horseback riding and book-reading all while appreciating the spectacular view and solitude. Town of Lincoln with small grocery store, restaurants and bars seven miles away. Travel time by car is one hour from Helena airport; one and a half hour from Great Falls or Missoula.
We built this home for our multigenerational family while working in the area. We have since moved with our children but love the house and location so much we come back to visit frequently.
Courtnay Crowell purchased this house in 2011
Have you ever read "A River Runs Through It" by Norman Maclean? Well, we chose Lincoln partly because the setting of that book is the headwaters of the Blackfoot River. My husband grew up in Montana Fly Fishing, and I fell in love with Montana working Yellowstone National Park as a teenager.
This is a property designed to help you reconnect with friends and family in a low stress, luxurious, wilderness setting. We designed the house with big spaces to come together and enough space for privacy when you want it. The views are spectacular from every window in the house, and with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, a separate entertainment area with table tennis and television, everyone can have their space and fun in their own way.
Very peaceful relaxing home with stunning Mountain views. Home is well equipped and very comfortable. Saw lots of wildlife and even a Grizzle Bear track. Short drive to quaint western town of Lincoln
We had a family of 12 stay at this home. Lot's of room in this house! Very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with what we needed for cooking. The grandkids loved the swings in the back yard. We even did Family photos on the property! We will be coming back.
Large newer home on mountain side overlooking blackfoot river valley just west of Lincoln, MT. Secluded. Our family stayed for two weeks and we would definitely recommend this property to others.
We had a great family get away here! The house was spacious and plenty of room for three families. Owners were easy to talk to. We rode ATVs through the mountains, swam in the river nearby, and roasted marshmallows and hot dogs in the fire pit!
This gem of a home was the perfect venue for our "girls weekend" that spanned 4 generations. The home was immaculate with more than enough beds, bedding, towels and kitchen needs. (The towels were AWESOME.) We made use of the fire pit and enjoyed the wonderful views and starlight.
The bird feeders were immensely enjoyed and the variety of birds from small to large were amazing. We all had our resources in motion trying to identify the different species. Perhaps a book about identifying birds?? with markers to give us novices hints!!! The birds definitely kept us entertained in the mornings-absolutely one of the highlights.
The area was very scenic. We had taken ATV's and were able to ride in couple different directions. Some of the smaller secondary roads/trails still had snow so we were unable to go explore as much as we would have liked. Summer riding in this area would be awesome. We saw lots of deer and a large herd of elk.
I highly recommend this home for a mountain retreat getaway. It is set up so there is lots of privacy if you were planning a group event.
We spent New Year's in this beautiful home in the wilderness outside of Lincoln, MT. We had 8 adults and 6 kids and all fit in the house easily and comfortably. It is well stocked with bedding, linens, and kitchen supplies. We cooked big meals for New Year's eve and New Year's day and found the kitchen easy to navigate and use.
The area is gorgeous. We cross country skied straight out the front door and into the wilderness. Deer scampered across out path and we followed snowshoe hare prints. We skied to the top of a hill nearby with amazing views of the Scapegoat Mountains and wilderness. Several in our group enjoyed a beautiful day backcountry skiing on Stonewall Mountain.
We all met back up at the house in the big warm main room, enjoying the toasty wood stove, playing board games and taking in the amazing views and bird life out the big picture windows.
I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a quiet winter get-away or group retreat.
This a rural property located against Helena National Forest and adjacent to a 7,500 acre ranch under conservation easement accessible to hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, ATVs or horse riding (permission required for hunting.) The house is located just 8 miles from the continental divide with easy access to the Continental Divide Trail. The Blackfoot river, famous for fly fishing, is just 2 miles down the road, hire an outfitter, bring your drift boat or just fish the banks.
