About Rosemarie Ingleton

This is my private sanctuary in the woods where I take my family to escape the fast pace of New York City life. It is now my privilege to be able to share my special place with you.

Rosemarie Ingleton purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Rosemarie Ingleton chose Hudson Valley

There is no more beautiful place than the Hudson Valley. It changes so much with the seasons; each one offering a different perspective on the country experience. This is the perfect environment for enjoying the indoor/outdoor lifestyle.

What makes this cottage unique

When I first saw the house, it was the gardens that drew me in. Over the years, I have striven to improve it every season. My two sons encouraged me to make the family rec room their kingdom. All year long the wood burning stove adds coziness while the pool table/air hockey table, Wii console, flat-screen TVs (with cable & Smart TV technology), DVD player and board games provide hours of family fun. There is free WiFi throughout the house and a landline for local calls.

There's even a basketball hoop outside. My sons particularly enjoy practicing their baseball pitching and catching on the large outdoor lawn during the warmer months. There's even a fire pit area for making a bonfire and roasting marshmallows during the cooler months.

There are many areas to lounge away the hours. The focus is on complete relaxation and escape. We love it, and we believe you will too. Enjoy!

Marvelous cottage 2hrs north of Manhattan

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely weekend in the cottage in Redhook, close to the town but far enough for you to enjoy natures. This was our second time to Redhook and we took the kids to the General Store - Little Pickles and went for dinner one night in Rhinebeck (30 mins drive).

If you and your partner or your family need a breath of fresh air and a comfortable home. This is it.

Beautiful and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

My family and I (15 month old daughter) stayed here for a week at the end of July. It was a very easy drive from Manhattan (about two hours all in). The house is nestled amongst various trees, flowers and plants creating a vibrant outdoor environment. The pool was great and much needed as the temperatures were in the high 90's the entire week. The house was very pleasant to sleep in at night even without air conditioning. The house is conveniently located within close proximity to various farms, hiking trails and historical landmarks. Overall a very great experience and a relaxing week.

Cozy, well-situated, and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

This country property was a lovely Valentines getaway; totally quiet, with secluded grounds, and yet a short drive to the restaurants and attractions of Hudson, Tivoli and Rhinebeck. We appreciated the tasteful, internationally themed decor, and the iPod mix, too! A large, well-appointed kitchen more than suited our needs, and the bed and pillows were notably comfy. In all, a pleasant stay, despite sub-zero temps outside. I can only imagine how much more we would have availed ourselves of if the weather allowed for using the pool, hot tub, hammock, garden pond, local trails, etc... Plus, we made it to Manhattan for the second half of our trip in two hours flat!

Rosemarie was responsive and friendly to deal with, and we will happily consider a return.

Fun family retreat from the City

  • 5 of 5

First off the pictures do not do the inside of the home justice. It is beautiful inside, homey but elegant. Outside is breathtaking. We stayed for 2 nights, family of four and grandma. The children enjoyed exploring the outside, the landscaping is immaculate, the fish in the pond with ample seating for grown ups to enjoy a glass of wine while the children try to count fish was just perfect.

The house is in a great location, 30 minutes to the supermarket if you want to get your own ingredients and cook in the well appointed kitchen or 20 minutes to town for a diverse choice of restaurants.

The owner sent a well informed email before we arrived so that we knew where everything was and did not need any help while were there. I could go on, but if you are looking for a weekend out of NYC and you want to enjoy your family in a spacious beautiful home this is the place for you.

Country bliss!!

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the most charming and incredible country homes that I've seen! The home is very private and encompassed in serenity. The pool is inviting. The pond is lovely. The furnishings and whole atmosphere are comfortable. We have visited the home many times and will return.

Wonderful getaway to celebrate our engagement

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and I were looking for a quiet retreat close to the city to celebrate our engagement. We fell in love with the photos and gave Rosemarie's place a shot. It did not disappoint! It was such a wonderful oasis! We were greeted with a sweet note from Rosemarie and a bottle of bubbly waiting for us in the fridge. The home is very private inside and out, with a large backyard area that attracts birds, deer, and other little creatures. The property is removed from neighbors and we did not see anyone the whole time we were there. It really gave us a chance to unwind and have a good time. The kitchen is fully stocked with appliances for lots of cooking, and there is an outdoor grill that we used as well. We took a nap in the hammock, and had many meals outside. We got lucky with the weather, but had one rainy day during our stay, so we looked for board games and came across a great selection, and spent the day relaxing and playing games. We played some pool and ended the night with a film in the basement and cozy couch. The whole home is beautifully curated with gorgeous pieces that appear to come from all parts of the world, which made the place even more wonderful to stay in. Needless to say, the outdoor areas are just as wonderfully curated, and the pictures just don't do it justice.

The only thing we were sad about was that we had specifically looked for a place with a pool because we wanted to have a chance to be in the water, but on the sunny day that we wanted to enjoy that, the pool was 65 degrees and the pool heater was not working. Rosemarie promptly called her pool maintenance company to try to help us, but they were not able to troubleshoot with us over the phone or come fix it, so we sadly didn't get a chance to enjoy that.

Rosemarie was a joy to communicate with before, during, and after the trip, always prompt and gracious, and we thank her for her hospitality. We hope to be back and meet her at a future opportunity!

Owner's Response: Thank you for being wonderful guests. I am happy that you enjoyed your stay. You are welcome to visit again. The issue of the pool heater is being addressed, and the necessary part will be installed within a few days. Sorry for any inconvenience the cooler than desired pool temperature created. Happy Summer!!

The property is located in the heart of the Hudson Valley on a secluded 4 acre lot. Just 10-15 minutes from the historic villages of Red Hook and Rhinebeck, and a scenic 20 minutes drive to Hudson. Perfect for hours of relaxed antiquing, strolling and dining.

For skiing and snowboarding Catamount Ski Resort is 25 minutes away.

The Lake Taghkanic State Park is merely a 10 minutes drive away, and features a 156 acre lake. This park features cross-country skiing, ice skating and snowshoeing in the Winter.

The Roeliff Jansen Creek runs very close by our house, and makes a fine destination for casual fishing.

There are several pick-your-own farms close by (e.g. Greig Farms and Mead Farm) for berries and apple picking in season.

The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is a 15 minute drive away, where visitors can tour WW1 and Lindbergh-era aircrafts, or simply watch an air show.

If enjoying the performing arts is your joy, there is great theatre at the performing arts center at nearby Bard College.

There is something for everyone to enjoy here in the Hudson Valley. But there is always the option of doing nothing at all.
