Lovely cottage in the countryside

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I had a lovely relaxing stay at the cottage. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, and had left a welcome pack with wine, biscuits and eggs which was a really nice touch. The cottage itself had everything you would need, was lovely and clean, with a fab power shower and a comfy bed. The log fire was really nice to get going in the evening. Around the cottage there is beautiful countryside and walks close by, would recommend walking down to the Tarn for a wander round the lake and an ice cream.

We really enjoyed ourselves and we’ll be back!

A True Delight Staying at Tarnside Cottages

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful location these cottages are set in, we stayed in No 1, as you walk in the door the view from the patio doors looking down to Tarnside Tarn is super, then taking in the actual accommodation was a joy, very clean and tidy with a fully equipped kitchen, the lounge area with a lovely wood-burner (logs supplied) with another view down to the Tarn was a delight, as was seeing all the birds on the feeders, a visit from the ducks and chickens was most welcome as was seeing the race horses having a well deserved sand bath in front of the cottages, so nice to be staying on a working stables and meeting the horses, stable No 50 was my favorite.....loved carrots....

The area was just a dream for walking, we walked 20 miles of Hadrian's Wall, not far to travel to from Tarnside and a super road trip taking in Gretna Green and Moffat in Scotland, as was the visit to Kielder Forest, all achievable from Tarnside, we have had a truly wonderful stay, thank you Anne for your hospitality and the gifts on arrival....we will be back.

Clean and comfortable retreat in beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

We were really excited and pleased as we pulled up at the property and so were our children. Really special to be so close to all the horses and my daughter was delighted as she loves chickens too! The owner is very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The accommodation was really clean, very bright and pleasant, and well kitted out. The view from the patio doors was really stunning and lovely to take in first thing in the morning. It was a great location for us to explore Hadrian's Wall, Carlisle and the surrounding areas, but we couldn't wait to get back and get that wonderful log burner on. Would definitely go back again.
