Overview

About the property

Are you looking for a waterfront cottage that is comfortable and accommodating? Inside this Maine camp you'll find three bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and full bath. Outside you can enjoy the large wraparound deck that is just steps from pristine David Pond. Kayaks and paddle boats, as well as a canoe and paddleboard are available for recreation. Swimming from the dock and swim float, as well as the small beach is fabulous. The cottage is located on a quiet cove that is undisturbed by motor boats.

You will hear the loons calling, the breeze rustling through the leaves and can enjoy hours on the expansive deck, in sun or shade, without being disturbed by insects.

David Pond offers great fishing for large and small mouth bass, pickerel, and perch from the dock or from a kayak. More fishing options abound in area lakes and streams.

Enjoy a vacation in Maine -- the way life should be!

About Patricia Wheeler

We are a retired couple who have always dreamed of living in New England and vacationing on Maine lakes and ponds. After several years of renting with our children, we purchased our camp. We enjoy splitting our time between life "in town" and life on the pond.

Patricia Wheeler purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Patricia Wheeler chose Kennebec

Lots of searching led us to this property. Our criteria were simple: we wanted a quiet pond, a cottage that offered comforts of home, and in an area where there are things to do on rainy days.

What makes this cottage unique

You will find lots to discover in this part of Maine. Local theater, music venues, and other cultural activities are always available. Pick your own blueberries and raspberries as well as a number of farm stands will contribute to every culinary taste.

The cottage is simply but tastefully decorated and designed for convenience and ease of use. You can stretch out and relax both indoors and out - and find a quiet space for yourself when the time is right.

Family Memories Truly made

  • 5 of 5

We had a terrific week vacationing on David Pond. The house was very comfortable and relaxing, and Pat and as so helpful and available if you had any questions. The lake is so peaceful and anyone that we met was very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the paddle boats & kayaks along with the paddle board and the canoe. Wildlife was seen daily from Great Blue Herons to loons, Osprey and a bald eagle just to name a few. The loons call can be heard on the pond numerous times a day. Especially in the mornings and evenings. Fishing was very good as we caught both Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass every time we went out, including a couple off the dock.

This is the perfect place to relax and unplug from the hustle of the daily routine, and to spend quality time with your family. Highly recommend this property, we certainly will be returning again!

Perfect location right on the water - spacious accomadations

  • 4 of 5

This is one of the nicest 'camp' vacations we've had! David pond is amazing and the accommodations are very nice and there was lots of watercraft which was terrific to use and you can't get any closer to the water. In fact I think this camp is the closest to the water on the entire pond. They were only two things I felt like I really wish we had which was a dishwasher and air-conditioning. Not a deal breaker.

The pond was super warm but quite shallow around 10' at the deepest part of the cove. However being in the cove made it so no boats were screaming by and the wind was always pretty calm.

The things that could've made the trip better: air-conditioning, dishwasher and less algae in the pond and also no construction going on next-door but I know that's out of the owners control.

We will definitely consider staying there again you just can't beat being so close to the water on such a quiet pond I think we saw four boats all week long. Overall the camp is very comfortable and feels very homey .

If I could give 4 1/2 stars I would.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and glad you enjoyed your stay. The neighbors are having a new septic system installed, and it looks to be almost completed. As far as the algae (metaphyton) goes, it is a natural feature of warm, shallow ponds and is harmless (though annoying when you're near it.) Appreciate your remarks and wish the kitchen could accommodate a dishwasher! Thanks for being thoughtful and tidy guests. Pat

Just what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have long dreamed of a fall vacation in New England. We used this cabin as a "home base" to see many of the sights in the region. The camp was clean, well equipped and the owner was very attentive. We enjoyed watching the loons and other wildlife on this quiet corner of David Pond. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and recommend it highly.

We had a great time fishing and swimming. Lots of water crafts available, and we used them all to explore and catch some great bass.

A nice location on a quiet corner of the pond.
