The idyllic Son Saura sandy beach, with shallow water for safe paddling, is just a five-minute stroll away from this two-bedroom apartment in Son Parc, Menorca. Kitchen / living area, two bedrooms and bathroom with bath, w/basin, shower & WC. Colour TV and DVD player (Region 2 DVDs), plumbed-in washing machine, fridge/freezer, dining table with four chairs, two comfortable sofas, fixed vent air-conditioning in both bedrooms and two portable fans, iron, ironing board and clothes airer. The apartment benefits from having its own dedicated Wi-Fi router, which gives guests access to broadband internet. UPVC patio doors open onto an east/south-facing private sun terrace with patio table, chairs, parasol, sun-loungers and BBQ. Two kidney-shaped swimming pools are within a few paces of the apartment entrance door. A two-minute stroll takes you to steps leading down to Son Saura, Son Parc's "superb" beach. If you wish to avoid the steps, a more gradual incline route, but slightly longer time-wise, can be taken. Bars and restaurants are all within ten-minute walk. Horse-riding and golf are just a five-minute drive away. Bath towels, hand towels and bed-linen are supplied. If your stay is for 10 nights or more, additional towels and bed-linen will be supplied at the commencement of your holiday. You'll need only to pack beach towels. Two communal kidney-shaped swimming pools are within a few paces from the entrance door.

The bay at Son Parc is ideal for families as the sea is shallow for several metres into the sea, which makes it ideal for toddlers who wish to paddle. Shops and restaurants are all within a ten-minute stroll of the apartment and so car hire is not essential. There is a reliable regular bus service to Mahon and neighbouring Fornells. Car hire is not essential as all amenities are within easy walking distance. However, if you wish to explore the island of Menorca then car hire is definitely recommended.

Golf course: There is a 18-hole golf course in Son Parc. It is the only golf course on the island and is a good test of golf, whatever your handicap. The course is situated only a five-minute drive, or a thirty-minute walk, from the apartment. There is also a golf driving range as well as tennis courts. The clubhouse at the golf club boasts a superb bar and restaurant.

Walking: There are some superb walks to be had in Menorca. Details can be found in the Welcome Book which awaits you on your arrival at the apartment.

Swimming: The apartment complex boasts two kidney shaped swimming pools. In addition, the local beach provides excellent safe bathing in crystal clear water which is superb for snorkelling. The beach is ideal for young children as the water is shallow for several metres into the sea. This makes it perfect for children who enjoy paddling. Pedalos, kayaks and sunbeds & parasols are available for hire at the local beach.

2018 will be the 16th consecutive year of holidaymakers staying at Els Vents, 8.

My name is Nigel McPheat. I've been married to Linda since 1980 and we have two daughters (Claire born in 1984 and Naomi born 1987) and two twin grandchildren (Joel & Rose born in 2015). We live in Flitwick, Bedfordshire just 40 miles north of London.

Why Nigel McPheat chose Minorca (Menorca)

As a family we enjoyed several holidays in Menorca and we never tired of returning to the island. We decided to buy the property in Son Parc in 2002 as it is close to a beautiful sheltered bay a wide sandy beach. The resort has a handful of shops, a few bars/restaurants and Menorca's only golf course is located on the edge of Son Parc. On occasion, we have not hired a car and just spent the fortnight relaxing, reading books, sunbathing on the patio, stepping outside the entrance door to take a refreshing dip in one of the two pools and wandering down to the local beach and taking a refreshing dip in the Med.

What makes this apartment unique

The 40 apartments that make up the Els Vents development are predominantly owned by Spanish people who use them for holidays or let them to friends and family. Only a handful of the apartments are let commercially. This means the complex is rarely busy and most of the time you will find the two kidney-shaped pools empty. The apartment is well-located, being less than a five-minute stroll from a large soft sandy beach and within a ten-minute walk of well-stocked shops and bars/restaurants. The airport is only a twenty-five-minute drive away. Car hire is not necessary but is recommended to those wishing to explore the island. From Son Parc, it's possible to travel by car to anywhere on the island within 45 minutes.

"Our first visit to the apartment. Four of us went (2 adults + 17-year-old and 19-year-old). All the information was correct on the website. The booking and help to find somewhere to store our bags and freshen up, because our flight did not leave until late at night, was very good. Very quiet. No need for a car. All you need is not far away. Loved the beach. Easy going down. Exhausting coming back up. Need a good pair of legs. Would not change a thing. Great holiday. Thanks Nigel"

An english speaking representative is available 24 hours per day. Bed linen + hand & bath towels are supplied. You need only take beach towels. There is a plumbed-in washing machine and ironing facilities. There are hairdryers in both bedrooms and a key-operated safe in the twin-bedded bedroom, for which there is no extra charge. Cot and / or high chair can be hired for a small additional charge. If there are up to four of you then the rental cost is all you pay. A cot and / or high chair can be hired for a small additional charge. Fixed vent air-con has been installed in each bedroom as well as mosquito mesh blinds. Two kidney-shaped communal pools are only paces away from the apartment's entrance door. Locally, you will find bars and restaurants, some with live music and entertainment. Had all you needed for a quiet relaxing holiday

Stayed early May resort was just getting ready for the summer season. Son Parc appartments had all you would need for a self catering holiday, would return in the future as Minocora has all you want for a quiet relaxing holiday

Excellent family holiday

We have just returned from a fabulous two weeks holiday at Els Vents 8. The apartment was well maintained, clean and comfortable and I really appreciated the little extra touches such as ample sandwich boxes and ice packs for picnics on the beach.

Nigel was a pleasure to deal with, answering any queries within minutes and his recommendations for restaurants

were excellent, our favourite being Aquario in Na Macaret. The two pools were really appreciated by my grandson who spent happy hours in the evenings playing with the Spanish children, communication through play was lovely to see. The bar-b-que was a lovely addition to the patio and we thoroughly enjoyed using this along with a glass of wine on a couple of occasions. The fact that the patio was not in the evening sun made this a lovely cool place to relax after a hot day on the beach. Son Parc is an absolute gem, set among pine trees, uncommercialised, with the most beautiful beach, ideal for children. I would have no hesitation in recommendiing this lovely apartment for a wonderful, relaxing holiday.

Wonderful stay in a little gem!

Els Vents 2 is at the very top of the hill overlooking Son Parc and with glimpses of the sea. Although a ground floor apartment, there are steps immediately outside the property and the general "hilliness" of Son Parc itself requires a reasonable level of mobility. Els Vents means "windy" (there are 8 different words in Menorcan language for wind) which did mean that in a fairly breezy week, it was a bit noticeable at the apartment complex and we did have to regularly relocate patio furniture which had blown around. Should however imagine that this would be cooling in the height of summer. The complex was very quiet and we were always the only people in either of the pools.. The owners of Els Vent 8 have thoughtfully left 2 sun loungers and folding chairs that can be taken to the poolside if required.

The apartment is well equipped (microwave, fridge freezer, oven, 4 ring hob, toaster, kettle and plenty of fans as well as air-con in both bedrooms) and we appreciated that basic cleaning materials and little essentials like salt and tea bags had been left (presumably by previous tenants) to reduce the shopping burden on arrival. It was also very clean and tidy and we were surprised to get towels and bedding changed midway through our 8 night stay.

Access to a car on Menorca is highly recommended (we hired ours at a good price directly from Ryanair - supplied by Hertz) and the owners gave us good directions to the apartment from the airport. Very useful as we arrived in the dark - but actually it's an easy trip oif less than 25 mins.

Nearest supermarket at the Beach club is down some steepish steps (around 70 of them) - halfway down to the beach. Walk to the "strip" (the restaurants/bars) even with an 83 year old was just under 20 mins by the longer road route - but a bit longer going back up!!

Son Parc itself was quiet. Many restaurants on the strip were not open. We can however recommend the Tapas at Sagitaro, and the excellent chinese restaurant and we had some lovely early evening drinks at the Beach Bar. James and Danielle also made us very welcome at the Mucky Duck and we enjoyed an excellent paella party at BJ's

However, you have said that "there are steps immediately outside the property" and this might put potential guests off of booking the apartment. The only steps outside the apartment are ones that lead to the apartment above and there are no other steps apart from one small step up to the gradual slope leading to the pool area. Even the walk from the reserved car parking area is not up steps but up a slope leading to the pool area and the entrance door Els Vents 8. A clean and quiet apartment near to superb beach

We were very impressed with this apartment. It was clean, comfortable and well maintained. We have used Els Vents 8 twice and friends of ours who have stayed on their own equally enjoyed their visit. Having a swimming pool outside the front door was a bonus. The lovely sandy beach is within easy walking distance. There are plenty of bars and eateries within Son Parc.

Pretty apartments, beautiful beach, quiet area

The apartment was clean and well equipped - with a pretty terrace garden at the rear - away from the pool area which was perfect for dining in the evening without worrying that the little ones would fall in the pool! there were 2 pools which we pretty much had to ourselves for the duration- the only downside is there is not a shallow end for little children. the transfer was approx 30 mins from the airport. the beach was approx 10 mins walk away down hill (pretty steep coming back up) beautiful, warm and shallow for quite a distance. The main strip of the resort was approx 15 minutes walk away the resort itself was probably too quiet for our liking with limited good restaraunts and shops there was a nice golf club on the outskirts of the resort which our husbands enjoyed playing at and they did really nice Tapas. however for a short taxi ride the neighbouring resorts had more to offer.

overall we really enjoyed our stay - with 2 exceptions 1, there were ants in the apartment which the owners did leave spray etc to help with but they were persistant! 2, i think that most of the apartments were privately owned so we were not taken kindly to enjoying ourselves by the pool during siesta time.

Nigel was very easy to communicate with and a big plus point was the handover day not being restrictive therfore we could choose the best flights.

We have since arranged for our representatives to give the apartment the necessary treatment so that the chance of any further such problem is minimised. Also, we have made sure that a supply of ant-repellent is always kept in a high cupboard out of reach of any children. It is unfortunate that you encountered some negativity from others on the complex during siesta time as the two pools are there to be enjoyed during the daylight hours. Fantastic Apartment

We stayed in this apartment in May 2012 with our 5 yr old and 3 yr old. We could not have asked for a nicer place. Everything you needed was available to you. The location was perfect, easy access to the beach, supermarkets and restaurants. The pool was amazing and we had it ourselves every day which was lovely. The owners were fantastic, nothing was never too much trouble and we had all the information and more about the apartment, resort and Island. We will would love to return one day.

Son Parc is situated on the north coast of the Balearic Island of Menorca to the east of the Spanish mainland. This well-loved resort has all the facilities one seeks in order to enjoy a relaxing holiday. Bars and restaurants. Nightly entertainment. Golf. Beach bars. Excellent sandy beach with dunes behind. Sheltered bay for safe bathing. Shallow water for young ones to paddle. The apartment is situated in a quiet complex of just 40 apartments which have the benefit of two kidney shaped pools. Both of which are situated less than a dozen paces from the apartment's lockable entrance door. The island's only golf course is in Son Parc (18 holes). amenities, however there are shops, bars & restaurants open in nearby villages/towns and therefore a car is recommended in April. The island of Menorca is a lovely island. The beaches are stunning. The sea is so clear, snorkelers love exploring the rocks at each side of the bay.

A short walk from the apartment, opposite the Sol Parc apartments, there is the Son Parc Forestal, which is a woodland trail with various pieces of exercise equipment dotted around, with swings, a zip-way and play areas for younger children.

There are many wonderful secluded coves all around the island, several of which can only be accessed by foot after having negotiated narrow bumpy roads in a car. In the magazine rack in the apartment you will find several guides to Menorca.

Especially recommended is Cala Macarella on the south side of the island. Whilst it is possible to drive direct to this particular cove and park in a wooded area behind the beach, you might wish to drive to neighbouring Cala Galdana, to the east, where you can park up and take a gentle 30-minute stroll along the cliffs to reach Cala Macarella, where you will find a beach bar selling snacks and beverages.

Mahon, the island’s capital famous for its deep harbour, is a good place to go shopping and sightseeing. Also, you can take a trip around the harbour in a glass-bottomed boat. A bowling alley and cinema complex can be found, should you encounter poor weather (most unlikely!).

Ciutadella, located on the west side of the island, is the old capital. Here you will find a selection of shops as well as a host of fish restaurants located along the harbour’s edge.

Through the middle of the island you will find the towns of Ferreries, Es Mercadal and Alaior. All three are traditional Spanish towns containing local shops and restaurants. Adjacent to Es Mercadal is El Toro, the highest point on the island, which can be accessed by car.

Nearby Fornells is a good place to visit at night where you will find many top quality seafood restaurants. The prices can be relatively dear and so we would suggest you check out menu prices before taking your seats. On occasion the King of Spain has been seen dining in one of the harbour-side restaurants.

If you are feeling like a 30-45 minute walk, there is a marked footpath to the nearby holiday resort of Arenal D’en Castell to the east of Son Parc.

Following several maroon-coloured directional signs you will soon find yourself walking across a cliff-top footpath to the adjacent resort where you will find bars, restaurants and a really superb large sheltered bay, where pedalos are available for hire.

There is also a water park at the Marina Parc Hotel in Arenal D’En Castell. It is open from 10:30 to 17:30 each day and visitors are welcome.

If you wish to stay at Els Vents 8, £100.00 deposit will secure the booking. Balance becomes due eight weeks before departure. Payment by credit card, via Paypal, is accepted.

If your holiday period covers two different weekly rates, please divide each weekly rate by seven to obtain the nightly rate and then multiply by the number of nights for each rental rate period.

We have no fixed changeover day so you may arrive and depart on any day of the week. Arriving guests cannot normally access the apartment before 14:00. We ask guests to vacate the apartment by 10:00 on their final day in order that the apartment can be prepared for the arrival of the next set of guests.

Prices are based upon up to four persons. A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking. The 75% balance becomes payable 60 days before the start of your holiday. For bookings made within 60 days of the departure date, the full amount is payable at the time of booking.

  • 50% refund for cancellations more than 30 days before check-in date.
  • 100% refund for cancellations more than 60 days before check-in date.
