A little piece of paradise!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in this charming cottage by the lake. You would be hard pressed to find a vacation home more full of character than this. We spent the week of July 4th with our two teenage boys. The kayaks and canoe kept them busy all week. We used the outdoor grill every night and the screened porch was the perfect outdoor space. Tara, the owner, left lots of helpful information and there were tons of games and dvds in the house for family fun. We had a magical vacation and cannot recommend this highly enough!

Owner's Response: It is always a pleasure to hear that visitors to our VRBO home enjoyed their stay as my family did growing up here every summer. We look at what we would enjoy if we were the visitors on vacation, and try to supply every accomodation to make your visit everything you were expecting and more. We are always open to suggestions for making your stay better! Your family is delightful, and we are so pleased you had so much fun in New Hampshire. We hope you will visit us again sometime, and thank you for your kind words. Enjoy the rest of your summer, and thank you again. Tara

Wonderful Get Away at Lake Winnepocket

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five plus mini-dachshund just spent four days/three nights at this lovely cottage in NH. The home itself was sparkling clean and spacious with good-sized bedrooms, plenty of sleeping options, and a large living room. We did not use the front porch because it's winter but I can only imagine how peaceful it would be in the summer. The kitchen was equipped with everything you could possibly need for baking/cooking, including all pots and pans, spices, glassware, dishes, coffee pot, mixer, etc. It snowed 8" one night and a plow service showed up and plowed twice, which was wonderful and made us able to go about our business, which was ski at Mt. Sunapee. The home was located 5 or 6 miles from a cute NE village with a couple of cafes, pizza place, post office and other amenities. Another mile or so out of town was a large supermarket, gas stations, Dunkin Donuts (critical), and hardware store. Although I did not meet the owner Tara in person, she was easily accessible via text and email. Also, she was so kind to offer us an additional night "on the house" since no one was checking in right after us, which unfortunately we could not do but it was such a lovely generous gesture. I have the feeling we will be back again - everything was just perfect and we are anxious to see the lake in the summer. Thank you, Tara!

Great lake and outside space. Allergy warning.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for a wedding in a neighboring town. The screened in porch, boats and the clear lake were the highlight of the property. The house got both beautiful morning and afternoon sun exposure over the lake.

Here are my comments-

Common spaces - Well appointed and clean kitchen with modern appliances and seating for 6 at the table. Living room was dark but this did not bother us. The decor was rustic cabin. There was a sitting room in addition to the TV room. The back porch was truly the highlight of this property. AMAZING! I love a good outside space which you can enjoy without worry about getting eaten alive!!

Bedrooms- Master is on the main floor. No complaints about the bed. The other 2 rooms were on the second level. One bedroom had 3 "twin" beds that were actually cot mattresses on platforms. My kids (ages 5 and 6) were ok with this but I was not. I tried with no success and had to move to the other bedroom. That room however had a beautiful view as it faced the lake. The third bedroom had a twin bunk bed and separate twin. There was also no guard rail for the top bunk (at least that we could find). My adult nephew and niece did not complain about the mattresses. I slept in the twin and it was ok as well.

Overall impression - I loved that the place was obviously not just a rental. Made it feel like a home not a shell. Big plus. I also loved that not only were the linens supplied, but the beds were made when we got there. Small detail on the owners part that made a great impression on us! And was very helpful. The owner was professional and friendly - never met her but a positive experience - which is key for me when renting on these types of websites. My only complaint was regarding allergies. The place was very clean and I noted that there was no dust. However it was very musty and the owner has a dog(s) that, it looked like, spent time in the house. All of us needed to take allergy medicine for general allergies - especially when going to bed. My husband is highly allergic to dogs however and if he had been there he would have had to get a hotel room. I felt that the dog part should have been advertised for people like my husband. It would be a bummer if you rented the place and then could not stay there.

Overall a nice place as long as you are not a person with allergies. We could not stay there again because of allergies. However, with that consideration, I would recommend the place to others.

my family and i stayed here about a year ago and we still talk about it! it was the best trip we have taken by far! everything was clean and fun. The owner is an awesome women and was more then amazing to deal with. i can say enough good things about her. we even think we might go to this house again for a trip this year! As a family of 9 we left to go do something i think one day of the long weekend we were there. it was a great time and this house is always on my reccomendation list for people looking for a trip! The owner even texted me when we left thanking us for cleaning and making sure everything was left the way it was when we came in. She was great!

Awesome location, gr8 house, Best Trip

  • 4 of 5

Had an awesome experience staying here. This house is situated right at the lake, which adds to the beauty of the house. The house is well equipped with all the amenities. Someone with real love and eye for antiques and arts will like this even more. The house is overflowing with a huge collection of adorable items.

Drawback, just one bathroom in the house.

But overall awesome experience.

Thank you Tara for allowing us create memories at this paradise. I would love to visit again.
