Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Saint Augustine - The Pearl....Bchside Priv Home

2 bedroom, 1 huge bath, fenced back yard, brand new and just one block beach.

Enjoy your best vacation ever. The Pearl is a beachside private home totally remodeled during the winter of 2014-15. This small ocean jewel is a two bedroom, 1 bath home in a quiet, highly regarded and admired beach neighborhood with a laid back atmosphere, eclectic mix of old Florida cottages and contemporary homes just one block from one of the several deeded beach accesses...just walk on. It is on a full lot that runs from one street to another providing additional privacy and access and parking. We are 100% pet friendly and children love this cottage. The furnished covered porch out front is a delight to relax on and listen to the ocean. The backyard has a great party deck for grilling, entertaining, relaxing and sunning. You are just a short, easy 2 minute stroll to one of the best beaches on the East coast and an easy bike ride to the intra-coastal waterway public boat ramp and Windswept Beach Park. You are only 10 miles from Marineland and 15 minutes from historic downtown St. Augustine.

The open Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen floor plan allows The Pearl to live big and easily all on one floor. Both bedrooms have extremely comfortable Beds (we love comfort). The MB is a king size bed and the other bedroom has two twin beds with a kit to easily convert them to a king size bed. Also, one of the two sofas in the Living Room is a great Queen sized sofa bed. You can easily sleep up to 5 people. Our home is fully equipped, very comfortable and very well decorated. A comfortable and brand new stainless steel and granite modern kitchen allows you to easily prepare meals at home when you choose. Enjoy the 48“ flat screen LED HD satellite TV, DVD Player and free wi-fi. The Master Bedroom also has a TV and DVD player. There’s even a stocked desk if Mom or Dad need to do a “little” work while away or just write postcards. We’ve provided lots of little extras to make your vacation memorable and the most fun.

We are out of state owners but very “hands on” with our property visiting often and living in one of our three vacation homes in St. Augustine during the winter. Our other two homes, 2nd Haven #295611 and The Mermaid Cottage #408813 are listed on VRBO also. The Mermaid Cottage and The Pearl are next door to each other and can be rented together for larger family/friend gatherings. Please read our reviews on our other homes. This house also meets those standards. Local friends help us maintain this lovely home and are available immediately should you need assistance

You will love this small ocean jewel The Pearl, the beach and the neighborhood. You will feel right at home immediately. We want you to relax and enjoy our home and your St. Augustine vacation experience and return year after year. Special winter rates available months of Jan., Feb and March.

About Deborah Reeves

George & Deborah live in the mountains of NC. George has just retired from a career as a general contractor and is still using those skills to remodel and maintain our homes. He is also a musician (often playing in the St,. Augustine area, especially in the winter months) wood artist and bee keeper. Deborah also recently retired from decades of owning salon/spas and is an avid gardener, stained glass artist (you will find her work in each of the homes) assistant bee keep and aspiring cookbook author with a blog site. We live a sustainable lifestyle in our 100+ year old farmhouse in the mountains of Cashiers, NC. and spend the winters in St. Augustine.

Deborah Reeves purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Deborah Reeves chose St. Augustine Area

George and I love the beach. We were both raised on east coast beaches and although we love living in the mountains of NC, we missed the coast. We always dreamed of owning a beach house. We've spent many hours and dreams designing and redesigning the quintessential beach get-away. We believe that we have created that special place to retreat, relax and recharge....the perfect 'memory building' spot to share with family, grandchildren and friends.

Acquiring The Pearl gave us the opportunity to "save" one more of the original beach bungalows. So many of these are being torn down and replaced with large tall homes. They are beautiful but we had a fondness for the older style cottages that conjured up lots of childhood memories. It has been fun to restore them to be very modern and comfortable homes. And we are happy to be sharing it with you and your family and pets.

What makes this cottage unique

We love grabbing a beach chair and just walking the short distance to the beach ramp. The ramp is built over the dunes and we enjoy looking at the plantings and creatures that live in the dunes. The beach is one of the widest on the east coast and we are always awed by it. It's a casual beach which we find very relaxing. Pets are allowed on a leash and we enjoy watching people and their pets. We are so close to Dtwn St. Augustine , the oldest city in the U.S. It takes minutes to drive Dtwn and enjoy all the site seeing, shops, architecture, wonderful art and great dining. We are always passing ghost tours and one of these days we're going to take one. Our neighborhood is well known for gopher Tortoises. They live here and are federally protected as an endangered species. We have a burrow in our yard and it is always a treat to see them roaming the yard. And it is nothing to pass one on the road as you are taking a walk and of course we see them as we walk the boardwalk over the dunes.

Very Nice Beach House

  • 4 of 5

The Pearl is beautiful - located in a safe, quiet neighborhood. The artwork and furnishings in the home are lovely. It is just a short walk to the beach, and only 15 minutes from St. Augustine. Deborah allowed us to check in early on our arrival day, which was very much appreciated. The master bed is very, very plush and soft. My husband was able to sleep on it, but I was not - I slept on the couch - which was very comfortable so it was not a big deal - I enjoyed watching the big screen TV at all hours of the night! The back patio and fenced in back-yard is a definite plus, however the yard and surrounding landscape could use some clean-up and maintenance. (I would also recommend adding a bit more throw rugs in the house). The owners have put a lot of work and love into this cute, comfortable home. We had a very nice time and would stay again.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking your time to write us a nice review and for your suggestions. I am glad that you enjoyed the big screen tv in the living room and the comfortable sofas. We purposely keep the yards as naturalized as possible. It is helpful especially after a long summer of drought. We do not install watering systems to try and be conscious about water conservation. The next time you stay be certain to look for all the throw rugs that are stored in closets and in the laundry nook. Many of our guests do not like them but we do provide them for those that wish to use them. We are happy that you will consider booking with us again.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you loved The Pearl. We completely remodeled this house 1 1/2 years ago. it was a two year project. We gutted it down to the studs and then everything was new...wiring, plumbing, exterior, windows, doors, appliances, a/c, heat, interior, bath, kitchen and of course furniture. it is a brand new house! It was a fun project and we are pleased that you liked it and will return.

Awesome cute home 🐢

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a week at the home. My sister and her boyfriend stayed a couple of nights with myself and husband and our 7lb poodle "Ali". The home was soooooo cute . The bathroom is awesome with a very large and pretty shower ! The fenced yard was so great for my fur baby. The beach was so close and dog friendly. My puppy loved it. We enjoyed Paula's beachside grill , good food and close by. I felt at home and hope to come again ❤️

Beautiful Beach House!

  • 5 of 5

As soon as you stepped into the Pearl you felt relaxed. I loved all the beautiful little touches around the house. My dog enjoyed the large fenced in backyard where he could roam. The front porch was the best for sitting out having coffee in the morning or a drink at night listening to the ocean waves. It was a block to the pristine white sand beach. It was a short drive to downtown St. Augustine. We would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased that you relaxed and enjoyed our little Pearl and the great beaches of St. Augustine. And I agree with you about the front porch...it is also my favorite place to sit and enjoy the mornings. The back yard seating areas are my favorite place to enjoy the sun if not walking down to the beach. We also enjoy eating meals in the back yard. Thank you for renting from us and we are very glad your pet could vacation with you. We will be happy to see you return.

Special Place

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, and our puppy, Bella, spent 10 relaxing days at this lovely beach cottage. The Pearl has an open floor plan, fully stocked kitchen, beautiful tile, and so much more. From the moment we walked in the door, we felt at home. Deborah and George are such gracious hosts, and always available if needed. We stayed at The Mermaid, their other rental, for 3 weeks last November. Our family visited for Thanksgiving, and The Mermaid easily accommodated our group. We so enjoyed our stay, and meeting Deborah and George, that our decision to visit the smaller Pearl cottage this May was like going back

home. We plan on making The Pearl one of our yearly vacation get-a-ways.

The real bonus is for us tho....we have made special friends with both of you and Bella and always look forward to seeing you again. Until next time....

Hawaii does Butler Beach/St. Augustine

  • 5 of 5

The house was absolutely adorable and was only yards away from my favorite Florida beach (I grew up in Florida). If I could combine Butler Beach with Hawaii's blue water and mountains I think I would have found heaven, although the boardwalks protecting the sand dunes and the gopher tortoise don't exist in Hawaii. With that said, my guests and I could not have been happier. The open layout easily accommodated all of us. The huge backyard was perfect for visiting pups and BBQs. The front lanai was a great place to gather in the evening. We used Uber to go to St. Augustine.... no parking hassles and great drivers. My son even caught a few waves, while I sat on the beach imagining that I could skim board without breaking anything (after all I am 58). If you rent a car... get four-wheel drive so you can drive on the beach... beach driving is a cherished childhood memory.

Owner's Response: It sounds like you treasure the same things about St. Augustine that we do. That's why we bought there and stay as much as possible. Very happy to hear that you also enjoyed out home and we are glad that the fenced back yard was well used by pets and family. Thank you for trusting us with this most special vacation time for you.
