|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
Cot N Munch is located on one of the best trout fishing streams on the East Coast, and located between Lewisburg and State College. This is on stocked water and you will have the usual on and off flow of passing fisherman, but when they leave, you get to stay.
Kitchen includes stove refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, pots, pans and utensils. We supply heavy duty paper place settings, saving water use and work for you. Sleeping arrangements consist of a private downstairs queen bed. Upstairs is a semi-private double and two single beds. More than enough room to accommodate up to 6 people. The cabin's "bathroom" is fitted with an eco friendly composting toilet, and an old fashioned pitcher and bowl for quick wash-ups. Just a few steps from the cabin is the shower house. In this building you will find two showers as shown in the pictures, with a dressing room. Also in this building is a double bowl sink where you can gather water for cooking, washing your dishes in the provided basins, or cleaning your catch from the creek. If you are feeling like a real pioneer, feel free to use the outhouse! There is a large 2 bay building to keep your vehicle under shelter and store your canoes or kayaks. We are within minutes of the Coburn to Cherry Run hiking and biking trail to the west and Buffalo Valley Rail Trail to the East. A short drive to groceries, restaurants and thousand of acres of state forest and state game lands, wineries, and micro breweries. We are only about 10 miles from Woodward Camp. Far enough away from yet close enough to everything you'll need. Great kayaking, fishing, hunting, hiking, snowmobiling, or just a quiet, peaceful, relaxing weekend getaway. Sorry-must be 21 years of age to rent our cabin and IF YOU PLAN ON FISHING--YOU MUST HAVE A VALID PA FISHING LICENSE. We encourage you to please read all the information in the rental agreement and the paperwork on the table upon your arrival. It will make our job easier when you leave and lower the time it takes to prepare for the next guest. Thank You
Hello, John and Sandy Erdley here. I'm an asphalt construction worker and musician and my wife Sandy is in retail. After moving here from Main Street, over 20 years ago, we came upon this cabin on one of our first walks down the old rail bed. After 3 tries to purchase it over a 17 year period we finally got it. We get to enjoy it when you our guests are not here and we only hope that you, our guests enjoy it as much as we do.
John and Sandy Erdley purchased this cabin in 2013
Cot N Munch is located on the banks of one of the most famous Trout streams on the East coast, the Penns Creek., famous for it's Green Drake hatch and fly fishing. In my early teens I and my 2 Uncles would visit the Weikert area right up the road for the first day of Trout Season. On the way home we would stop and walk down a road to the Penns. One day awhile back when walking back to my house after a morning of fishing I realized the road I now live on was that road. So this is a very special place to me. Over the years I've spent quite some time on the beautiful water of the Penns Creek and from what I've seen I can tell you there are few cabins that have as much privacy, with the view and calm you have at Cot N Munch.
Cot N Munch is centrally located between Lewisburgs Bucknell University and State College, home of the Penn State Nittany Lions. It is on stocked water and it's the perfect place to kayak to or from. We are within minutes of the Coburn to Cherry Run Hiking and Biking trail to the West and Buffalo Valley trail to the East. A short drive to groceries, fuel, restaurants, microbreweries, wineries, State Forrest and State Game Lands. We are only 10 miles from Woodward Camp, a modern X game training facility.
Need to mention: In the garage you will find an unlimited (be reasonable) amount of firewood. Please keep in mind the size of your fire and weather conditions and make sure it is out before you leave.
If you are going to smoke, smoke outside and please use the three sand buckets or fire pit. Respect our property and the next guest by not throwing butts on our property. If you can not you will be charged extra on a revisit.
The wall at the front of the property was my last accomplishment prior to back surgery. It took a lot of time and energy. This being said, do not play or allow the children to play on the wall.
Do not move picnic table. The chairs around the fir ring may be moved wherever you wish, except to your home.
Thank You, John
We loved our time in this cabin. This is a very unique and cozy little cabin that I would recommend to everyone I know. We actually loved the fact that the cabin itself had no running water and could only be accessed in the shower area. It gave it just that much more of a rustic, authentic camp type feel. The setting and scenery is beautiful and there is a ton to do and see. Plentiful wildlife and natural beauty. We were lucky enough to be there during a full moon and were quickly reminded just how bright the stars shine in the country. The fire pit was amazing, and it was really nice to fall asleep surrounded by only the sound of the creek flowing and a lack of city lights. Truly wonderful experience. We will be back frequently!
Great place to spend a weekend away! The scenery is lovely, and the fire pit is phenomenal. Hope to be back one day.
My son, father-in-law and I enjoyed four day fishing trip at Penns Creek. Staying at John & Sandy's cabin added enjoyment to a meaningful trip. Accommodations are great for those who want a quiet, scenic cabin experience. Kitchen is good even for foodies. Location along river is picturesque. We came from Wisconsin, Montana and Kentucky. Hope to come back.
We absolutely loved our stay here! If you are looking for somewhere that offers you pure R&R then this is the place for you. The cabin is clean, cozy and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed during our stay. There isn't any running water in the cabin so there are plenty of heavy duty paper plates to use (it actually was quite nice not doing dishes!). The appliances are all modern and very well maintained. The bed is very comfortable. The decor in the cabin is adorable. The bathroom area was well designed, well lit and very clean. There were plenty of towels/wash clothes provided for our stay. We stayed in the downstairs bedroom, but there are other sleeping arrangements on the second floor. Very cute! A double bed when you get to the top of the stairs...and then a side room that has two more twin beds.Very well laid out. The outdoor shower house also is very clean, well lit, and the heated changing room is a nice touch! The fire pit and seating around it is a nice way to end the day. Plenty of firewood was provided and it's kept under a shelter so it was nice and dry. The scenery is amazing. There is an incredible view from every window in the cabin. Fall, during peak color change, is the perfect time to visit this cabin! The cabin is so close to the creek that you can hear it at night when you go to bed. That is awesome! My husband caught a nice sized bass from the creek right outside the cabin. There are eagles that fly up the creek in the morning and back down in the evening. A couple of heron hang out on the rocks in the creek. Chipmunks and squirrels run all around. A squirrel came up right beside me while we were fishing and drank from the creek. Too cute! The cabin is very private. There is only 1 other camp and it's a decent distance from the cabin. Sandy was a pleasure to deal with. You can tell she cares very much about people having the best stay possible at their cabin. She responds to emails very promptly and takes the time to answer any and all questions you may have. All in all we had a fantastic stay at this cabin and are very much looking forward to the next time we can go back!
If you are looking to get away from it all, this is the place. Not only was the setting serene and beautiful, but the cabin was clean and comfortable. There was plenty of hot water in the showers, tons of firewood for the fire pit - already split! - and plenty of towels, linens, blankets, and paper goods. We greatly enjoyed sitting creek side, reading our books while keeping one eye open for the wildlife: bald eagles, golden eagles, herons, ducks, deer, wild turkeys......our close proximity to Bald Eagle State Forest provided us with several hiking outings during the course of our stay, and a short drive into Mifflinburg and/or Lewisburg gave us a night out for dinner. We were sorry to leave and would definitely go back
This was a dream come true for us. We needed to get away and this cabin did it for us. Beautiful property and stocked with everything you might need. Thanks for the firewood too.
The wildlife was incredible. Ducks, eagles, herons and the list goes on and on. Fishing wasn't great but that's okay. The wildlife made up for it. We loved Mifflinsburg, so much history in the area. It was so good to see the farms in use and producing. The country was just georgeous.
Thanks again and we'll be back. You can count on it.
