quite nice

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our time at South Haven and in this little house. It was clean, comfortable and ready for us! Lots of nice little touches. A great value for the price. It was a walk to downtown, and the beach, but it was a lovely walk. We enjoyed the neighborhoods! It was a little stuffy at night, as one window in my room didn't open, and the other was missing a screen. No A/C in that room. but plenty of fans. Thanks for a great stay.

Good to go!

  • 4 of 5

If you are looking for a place to stay during your visit, this place will give you the basics with a few fancy kitchen gadgets thrown into the mix. The house is small, but the multicultural neighbourhood felt safe and is patrolled by officers driving by daily. The house is 7/10 of a mile away from the lake, so transportation would be helpful or at the very least, a good pair of walking shoes should get you squared away.

The master bedroom is small, yet the bed was quite comfortable. I love American beds! The fan above the bed is a bit wobbly and in need of repair. The bathroom is small, but is expected of a small American home built in that time period. The other bedroom has two beds, adequate for two children with room to spare. The kitchen is tight, but very well stocked with basics plus extras, like a Keurig Coffee Maker and Fondue Pot. The hallway had a certain unpleasant smell embedded into the carpet. New carpet may not be a bad idea in that location, or at the very least, a visit from the carpet steaming professionals.

The living room sofa is comfortable for relaxing time in front of the television and the cottage comes with a full closet of toys and games to enjoy. This home is workable for those on a budget. The point of going to the lake is to be at the lake, not to hang out indoors, so think of it from that perspective and be happy that you've saved some money by staying here.

The owner was very easy to work with, she is accommodating and "chill," as my students would say. We rented bikes from a local shop and explored South haven all week long. The home comes with a book of recommended places to eat and shop. Was pleased with this rental and the price. The home is true to the pictures shown and representation online.

Place was great. There was plenty of room for all of us. Kitchen was good size and fully stocked of dishes and utensils plus other misc items so we didn't have to eat out at all Place was very clean when we checked in.

It was only blocks from the beach and downtown to walk around. Would def stay here again if we come up to south haven.

Nice but has a lot more potential...

  • 4 of 5

This is a nice house but has a lot more potential. The house was very clean and well stocked. The owner was great to work with and communicated well through the whole process. The location was ok - it was on the south side of town minutes from down town and the beach.

My major complaint is that the house had no no Central Air. It only had one window unit for the whole house. A couple of the days we where there it was 80 degrees and 80-90% humidity at 11 pm. The window unit just could not keep up - it was 78 degrees in the house. We made due but, if it was not for the supplied box fans and ceiling fans we would have been completely miserable. My suggestion would be install another window unit in the back of the house for those warm Michigan nights.

One area of improvement that I may suggest is the "Curb appeal" of the house. The outside of the house could use a coat of paint, new gutters and some landscaping (i.e. overgrown weeds in the landscaping, ect.) True this did not effect our over all stay but, it was not a good first impression. We were a little concerned until we got inside and saw how clean it was and saw all the amenities.

Pros -

Owner was a great communicator

House was very clean

House had every amenity needed and then some (TV, Direct TV w/ movie channels, WiFi, beach toys, beach towels, games, books and ect.)

House had baby stuff - pack-and-play, high chair and ect.

Close to everything in town

Areas that could improve -

No Central Air - one window unit for the whole house.

"Curb appeal" The out side of the house could use a coat of paint, new gutters and some landscaping.

Overall the pros out weighed the areas that could improve and we had a very good stay. Because of the cleanness, the amenities, cost, and the owner I would recommend this property to my friends or relatives.

Perfect for a family!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this house and our stay in South Haven. The house was an easy bike ride from South Beach, the Kids Corner, and downtown. we stayed with our 2 young daughters and the house had everything we could've dreamed of for them. Quality toys and coloring pages for indoors and a good selection of sand toys, outdoor balls, and a wagon and stroller for outside. Each of the twin beds in their room had a cute stuffed animal from the Pillowfort collection at Target which they absolutely loved. The beds were confortable with clean sheets. Plenty of clean towels and a good shower/tub. The kitchen was well stocked for our needs. Elizabeth was quick to respond on the second day when we had an issue with the DVD player. The only thing that he house didn't have is a washer & dryer, which was somewhat of a pain when our beach towels got soaked in the rain and our girls clothes were covered in ice cream! Overall we had an amazing experience here!

Comfortable, cozy and close to it all!

  • 5 of 5

We had a last minute opportunity to plan a vacation to South Haven -- we found this property that was very affordable, kid/dog-friendly, and close to everything. Elizabeth, the owner was so accommodating, very responsive and helpful! We loved our stay -- the house is so cozy, clean and organized. There's everything you could possibly need for a week's stay at the beach! For a family with 3 kiddos and a dog - it was perfect! Thanks, Elizabeth!
