For a real local Irish experience
From Birds of Pray, to Stunning Sea bass, Horse riding to Karting we have it all just bring the sun. :-)
We recently stayed at the Oak Barn for 3 nights in order to visit family nearby. It was extremely comfortable, very well decorated with many nice personal touches throughout. We were 3 adults and the property was just perfect for our stay. A good size lounge/dining room as shown in the pictures, with the bedrooms and bathroom on the smaller but adequate size. The kitchen has got enough to get you through, but don't plan on making any big meals as there isn't (in line with the Eco focus) a full oven - microwave and hob are sufficient. However, you don't necessarily need one with the breakfast option... The owner, who welcomed us with some delicious homemade scones and a glass of bubbles (most welcome after an early start) lives next door and can provide you with the most amazing breakfast for a nominal charge. Fruit, yogurt, homemade bread, coffee and the best full Irish breakfast are to be relished and definitely enough to keep you going all day!
There is a table with chairs outside which you'll want to use to soak up the stunning surroundings, enjoy the peace and quiet of the landscape (with just a hint of the sea in the far distance) and maybe even some stunning sunsets too!
There are plenty of local towns of all sizes within easy driving and many beaches for long walks nearby....most definitely on our "to return to" list.
Compact and bijou property in county Louth. Clean, comfortable, visually attractive, well decorated, and as described on web-site. Enjoyed exploring the area, with walks to beaches both sandy & pebbly. House makes most of available floor space, but would be cramped for any more than 4 people, with 1 bathroom, and 2 bedrooms. Cooking is a little challenging with a hob and a microwave but no oven. Plenty of sights to see with seaside walks, Neolithic sites, and castles within reach. Fair range of places to eat within 15 minutes drive, and a fantastic fish-shop at the pier at nearby Clogherhead.
Friendly welcome awaits you, with owner nearby for any queries.
