Sunbreak: Peaceful getaway on gorgeous waterfront

Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Bath, Sleeps 9.

This charming lake front home on the public side of Lake Anna is the perfect spot to relax or launch adventures on the water. Enjoy a spacious quiet lot nestled amongst old shade trees and a large sunny lawn. Catch the sunrise over Frasier Island peaking through the trees. The expansive waterfront shoreline is just waiting for fun and memories to happen. This home provides a dock and large sun deck and swim platforms to wade your feet into the water. It is handy to Dukes Creek Marina for boat rental and service, and the only waterfront restaurant on the lake. The dock is surrounded by quiet deep water, perfect for that guest who likes to throw a fishing line.

The interior of the home boasts 3 well appointed bedrooms and 2 full baths. The Master Bedroom has a king sized bed with a spectacular view of the Lake, and a private full bath. The guest room has a queen sized bed, and the 2nd guestroom/kids room has a full sized bed and a Pack & Play for youngsters. The whole house is on filtered water, so no need to bring bottles.

The comfy living room also has a direct water view of the lake and opens to a kitchen and dining area that are well stocked for entertaining. Come out and play.

The playroom . . . ah the playroom . . . has an Olhausen pool table, a carved-wood bar, comfy sleeper sofa, DVD player, and a brand new Smart TV with awesome sound system connected to various apps to stream your favorite shows/music from Amazon, Hulu, Pandora, etc.

About Lake Anna: Lake Anna is the second largest lake located entirely in Virginia. It encompasses 250 miles of shoreline and 13,000 acres of water. The lake is 17 miles long and surrounded by farms and forest.

Lake Anna has 2 sections, the main or public lake and the private side. The public section consists of 9,600 acres and where you will find marinas, restaurants and commercial business. The private side is divided by 3 rock dikes and consists of 3,400 acres and there is no public access unless you own property on that section. That means there are no public boat ramps or marinas, only homes adorn the shoreline.

Attractions: There is boating, jet-skiing, fishing and water activities on Lake Anna, but there are many other activities to enjoy while visiting this area and they include: Lake Anna State Park, Wineries (Lake Anna Winery & Cooper Winery), Kings Dominion Theme Park, Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park, Bluemont Concert, Monticello (Thomas Jefferson's Home), Montpelier (James & Dolly Madison's Home), battlefields, places to shop. We are nearby Fredericksburg, Culpeper and Charlottesville.

About Ravi Sawhney

We live and work in DC and love our friends and enjoy the urban lifestyle . . . but sometimes we (especially our little girl) just have to get out and dig in the dirt, splash around, and see sky full of stars. We looked around and found that Lake Anna is a perfect place to do it! We bought the house on Valentine's Day 2015, and spent the Spring getting the place spruced up and ready to play. We'll work on the landscaping once it cools down a bit. (written June 15) One thing we didn't need to work on was the waterfront . . . the dock and cool water are always good to go!

Tragically, we are not able to get down to the Lake every weekend, so are happy to share through VRBO. We hope you'll enjoy your Sunbreak, and help us keep it in good shape for family and guests for years to come.

What makes this house unique

We love our easy/fun getaway-- and want to make it easy/fun for you too. Compare our amenities. Fresh linens and bath towels are included in cleaning fee. Trash hauling is included. Whole house is on a water filter/neutralizer, so no need for bottled water or Brita, and showers feel great. Plenty of water toys and life preservers. Please just come out and play, and treat our stuff as if it were your own! (assuming you take good care of your own stuff)

Long Lake Weekend

  • 4 of 5

Went to the lake for a long weekend and the house provided exactly what we needed. We spent the majority of our time outside in the yard or on the dock enjoying everything the lake had to offer.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review, and glad you enjoyed it. When it cools down, we're reseeding the lawn and doing some landscaping/clearing to improve the view of the lake. Should be nice. Come back and see us next year!

Fantastic Lake House

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at the property for the Columbus Day weekend. We absolutely loved the place! It is very spacious (more so than I gathered from the pictures) and we made use of the facilities offered. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is large and well-equipped, there is a grill which we used too, the lake is just past a few trees in the backyard (my 83 yo grandma could get down to the lake in a few minutes). We also enjoyed spending time around the bonfire in the backyard, playing pool and attempting to kayak. We swam a lot even though it was a cooler weekend (the lake temp was around 73 degrees), you can dive right off the dock which got warm in the sun when the sun finally came out for us. I would definitely recommend this property to anybody looking for a low key family getaway. (I think the only thing I wished for was a hottub!)

Property was very private and well equipped.

  • 5 of 5

This place is very quiet, you can barely see the neighbors through the forest. My family and I really enjoyed the large dock and canoe. It is an excellent location for swimming and plenty of life vests. My family appreciated the abundance of cookware and utensils in the kitchen. There is literally everything you need for cooking. We stayed a week and cooked all meals at the house. The owner provides plenty of instructions for operating the house and all the light switches are labeled. The owner also responded promptly to all emails before and during our stay. This place can provide your perfect family week at the lake complete with swimming, boating, large meals, campfires, and movie nights with the flat screen tv.

Property was very clean, and is in good condition. It's obvious the owner cares for the place, is more than just an income property.

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful long weekend at Sunbreak. The property was ideal - secluded, beautiful views, private dock, fire pit. The house was also equipped with everything to make vacationing easy. The house is also very close to a few marinas and the Lake Anna Winery making it easy to see more of Lake Anna. I would definitely stay at this property again.

Wonderful family getaway

  • 5 of 5

We went there over the WE with our 9-months baby boy and a couple of friends and their 16-months daughter. We made the most of all the amenities offered at our disposal: top-quality grill, pool, dock, canoe, wi-fi. The kitchen is more than fully equipped and the bedding, at least the king size bed in the master bedroom, is even more comfortable than our own! It is true that the decor is not our usual interior style but it fits so well with the place and the surroundings that it felt actually very genuine and cosy. The whole house is fully childproof, which contributed evidently a lot to our well-being and relaxing. And it is so nice to be able to get a swim from the dock in the morning in such a beautiful light.

We brought back home a lot of good memories and many pretty pictures!
