Gorges State Park, Caeser's Head State Park and DuPont State Forest are within a thirty minute drive. Also, Table Rock State Park (SC) and The Great Smoky Mountain National Park are less than an hour away.

Biking, hiking, golfing, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, fishing, and horseback riding opportunities are readily available in all directions.

The incredible Blue Ridge Parkway is only minutes away. The area is known as the "Land of Waterfalls" for good reason. There are over 250 waterfalls to be explored via outstanding hiking and biking trails or by scenic highway.

The town of Brevard sponsors many festivals throughout the year and is also home to many fine restaurants and unique shops. Farmers markets, live music and a fun night live can all be found in this vibrant little town.

Our cabin has two spacious bedrooms with two king size beds. There is a comfortable living area with gas fireplace and HD Smart TV with Netflix included. The modern kitchen is large and well equipped. And because we believe in healthy living you will find it stocked with a wide array of organic products. Just bring your main food and beverages. The front porch and expansive gazebo have lovely views of the mountains. The gazebo is a perfect place to entertain and the front porch is a favorite of the birders. It is so relaxing to sit in a rocker and watch the hummingbirds feed. Master bedroom features a kingsize tempurpedic bed that includes a massage feature. This is absolutely wonderful after a long day on the trails! It also has a HD Smart TV with Netflix, a master bath with whirlpool tub and separate shower. Other amenities include wifi internet, full laundryroom, and gas grill on covered back porch.

The location is ideal as you sit on the gazebo and take in the beauty of the area. With no visible neighbors you'll find this cabin to be an oasis after a memorable day on the trails or exploring nearby attractions and towns.

About Joseph Reynolds and Julie Stroot

We decided to take an early retirement in 2014. After traveling much of the U.S. in our RV for six months we chose the Brevard area as our retirement home. Not only is this area the perfect place to vacation but is also the perfect place to call home. We love sharing our beautiful cabin and surroundings with others. It is the second home that we have placed on VRBO. The first VRBO we owned was in Galesburg, Illinois. We have been involved in real estate for many years and enjoy owning and renting them out.

We Julie grew up on an Iowa dairy farm and has lived in Illinois, Texas, Kansas, North Dakota, Alabama, Georgia and Florida. Les was born in Florida and has lived in Montana, North Dakota and Illinois as well.

Why Joseph Reynolds and Julie Stroot chose Asheville Area

We chose to live in the Brevard area for many reasons. We have both always wanted to live in a mountainous area. We enjoy hiking and biking and the fine restaurants and bars in the area. Canoeing and kayaking are also activities we hope to take part in here. Also we enjoy farmer's markets and this area caters to organic and local "farm to table" foodies.

But mostly it was the friendly nature of the people we have met here that influenced us in our decision to settle in western NC. From the very first day we hit town we felt welcomed by natives and transplants alike.

What makes this cabin unique

At first we were drawn to this cabin because of the location. Nestled on a hillside with lots of privacy but not isolated or hard to get to. Then we went inside. It has beautiful hardwood floors with a wonderful handmade stick railing. The kitchen has every modern feature a chef could want and lots of space. But our favorite feature is the front porch that leads to a gazebo overlooking the mountains. It is just heaven.

Wonderful experience

  • 5 of 5

This property was one of the best that we have stayed in. Beautiful inside and out and so very well stocked with everything we could ask for. We had beautiful weather while we were there and enjoyed the fireplace on the cool mornings. Also spent time in the gazebo...so relaxing!

Five star mountain living!

  • 5 of 5

Wow .. Just...wow! Our stay in brevard was delightful and the accommodations at the cherry field cabin are perfect for an active family of four! It truly is the perfect base camp for hiking and downtown touring! During our stay we were able to take in breathless waterfalls, enjoy strenuous and non - strenuous beautiful hikes, and even enjoyed some horse backing. As for downtown brevard, it offers great bakeries, breweries, and ice cream/gelato shops! I would recommend the cabin to anyone as the decor and amenities are perfect! The gazebo, the view, the living space is all immaculate! Not often do you get a cabin with a jacuzzi tub and a bed that's better then your own! Julie and les do a wonderful job of communication and again this place is five star!! Loved it!

Beautiful mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

We chose Cherryfield Cabin for our Brevard vacation based on the positive reviews here, and wow, our high expectations were more than satisfied. Everything about this cabin is high-quality, from the furnishings to the electronics (large smart TVs!) and kitchen supplies. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The gazebo is lovely - a perfect place for relaxing with a book or a drink. The location is excellent for hikers and anyone who wants to enjoy the outdoors. We explored trails in Pisgah National Forest, Dupont State Park, and Gorges State Park. These parks are all short drive away, with trails that will take you to impressive waterfalls and breathtaking mountaintop views. The owners were very responsive, and went out of their way to make sure that our vacation went smoothly. Highly recommend!

  • 5 of 5

This was all it promised to be. Beautiful setting view area. No roughing it here all the latest modern luxury in a fantastic warm comfortable living area. Best owners to deal with. Let me bring my 3 dogs. No better place out there to stay. Will be my first consideration for a trip north. Wonderful place.

Nice place, good view,

  • 4 of 5

House was as expected. View would have been better in the spring or fall. RV parked in the driveway made getting in and out of the driveway a little problematic, especially in the dark. Owner was very helpful in finding a place to print out documents. Hiking to waterfalls was a great experience. Christmas light show at the N.C. Arboretum was so very nice. A couple more drive-through ones were nothing special. Several restaurants were visited and all the experiences were good. Drove around town ( Brevard) looking for the white squirrels but never saw any live ones. The only problem we had was that the master suite whirlpool tub ran out of hot water before the tub was filled to the jets. Though reported to owner, nothing was done to improve this situation.

Owner's Response: We are so sorry about the tub. I had no idea it was an ongoing problem for you. We have never had that issue before. We keep the temperature of the water at point where that should not happen and I was afraid if I had you turn it even hotter it might have become a safety issue. I'm not sure why you had that issue but we regret you had the problem. Also, our apologies about the RV. With our big circular driveway and area by the shed we thought we had it free of any parking issues. But we have removed the rv so as not to create any further issues. We try very hard to make everyone's stay as enjoyable as possible and it is constructive criticism such as yours that keeps us improving. Julie and Les
